What to go son, you've done an amazing job. You should be proud of yourself... you have a tot of God given talent. Coupled with your work ethic you will go far. Congratulations 👏
Man you definitely had some critters living in that housing. Very worth the effort to clean it up! Good thing about videoing the process, if you forget how something goes, you have reference.
bro, you're doing a killer job, keep up the good work. glad I found your channel from the Barn Finds channel. This is my dream car, can't wait to see more.
Hi buddy, great job you are doing in this project. I live in France and I also do restoring old cars; but I am regularly amazed at the number of remanufactured parts available for American classiccars compared to the parts desert in France for popular French cars. By the way, Me and my son are looking for a 64 ford Galaxie 500XL😀 and it's not easy to find in Europe. So We are watching with high interest your vids. Go ahead and do more videos likte this.👌
Turned out great! I've seen some painted to match the interiors and others left flat black. My 64, which is my late father's has been in the family for 50 years, It has the original box and it's black. Still running the original heater core. Keep the old on as it is better quality as it is copper and brass.
Awesome! This was an interesting tutorial for the 64 Galaxie heater core/ box. I always wanted to see how it looks and goes together in this car. I heard the first generation Mustangs are a real pain to work on the heater cores😮
Looks great! But it looks like you didn't seal the holes where the heater tubes go threw the case it makes a huge difference in the efficiency of heater and fresh air! Keep up the great work it's going to be a beautiful ride!
Great job mate, it is starting to come together well. Please don't fall in the "patina" crowd. The car is too nice and you do great work. Every time I see a patina car I think lazy and doesn't love the car. But that's just my 2 cents
Thanks! Hahaha yes, eventually the car will be painted. You are right, the car is coming out better than I even thought so it does deserve a good paint job. Thanks for watching
Hey. In hindsight do you at all wish you waited on carpet install before pulling your dash and heater core. I wanna do the same job. But I have my carpet already and am exited to get it in. My dash is pretty dirty and heater box is bad also. Sould I wait on carpet...? I love your vids keep it up
How many bolts attach it to the firewall? I think my heater core is leaking in my '63 Colony Park, and I haven't figured out how to get it out. Looks like the whole unit has to come out like you've done. Would you have been able to remove the whole thing without removing the dash?
Yes it can be removed without the dash, there’s about 4 bolts through the firewall. And the heater cables will have to be disconnected. They have an Allen key fastener where you pull it on the dash
I'm restoring my box and it's for a slightly different model/year, but the same exact box. It was missing when I purchased the car, and wanted to know the shape of your metal duct in your cowl. Is it the same shape as the inlet on the box (oval) or is it a circular tube? Trying to find a seal and they all seem to be identical, but wanted to make sure.
If you mean the new seal with the clamp that I put on, the metal air duct that it connects to is oval. If you can’t find a seal, I have seen people make them. I considered doing this as well, as it was pretty expensive for essentially just rubber.

@@OmarRamirezGalaxie well I have a circular hole and an oval box now. Just realized that a 62 Fairlane and 63 galaxie isn't the same exact box due to the cowl inlet shape. Time to make it custom...
Paint the old girl this colour on the outside with that Wimbleton white... then you'd have something different these days... a properly painted car that is one of the coolest cruiser boats ever! Patina looks like the car dropped a couple too many wet wino farts and didn't change it's Drawers ... It's getting tired looking tired eh?
That's the most beautiful heater box ever😄
What amazes me is all the parts you can buy new for such an old car
Looks fantastic you are doing a very good job of it 👍👍

Thanks Scott really appreciate it
Simply replaced my ford heater box & core eons ago. Was nice having heat after many years of not having it.
Nice work 👌👍
Thanks! Appreciate it
Never thought I would enjoy watching a heater box build this much - great job on your build!
Lol thanks

Haha yes, I’m glad I can get these parts with ease. Good luck on finding the car, there are some very good deals in the states
Hey man, if you wanna buy an american car just come to sweden and get one its not that far

Dang that’s cool man, needs to stay in the family another 50 years. I agree, I’ll keep the original heater core and get it redone for a future build

Haha yes most of the smaller fords the dash is set so trying to get to the core can be difficult
Looks great! But it looks like you didn't seal the holes where the heater tubes go threw the case it makes a huge difference in the efficiency of heater and fresh air! Keep up the great work it's going to be a beautiful ride!
Thanks for the tip! I’ll add some of the permatex on there

Where do you get your parts from?

When I pulled the heater assembly it did have lots of dirt and dust but wasn’t too bad on the carpet.
Where did you get the rubber duct boot that goes on the far right vent?
Colliers classic! I have a link in the description
