Waw, what a picture! Thank you Dr.Ludwig for this march, I didn't know it. Listening to it, we can clearly see the inspiration that Wagner's work offered ❤️❤️❤️🎶🎵🎼
Ticket to the Opera House to see the latest opera by Wagner: 20 reichsmarks. New suit to wear to the Opera House: 100 reichsmarks Dinner and wine to spoil your Feinsliebschen who you took to the Opera House with you afterwards: 50 reichsmarks Wagner's music made into a March: priceless
I had the pleasure of being introduced to the music of Wagner as a child, and to The Ring Trilogy as a young man in junior high. It has stuck with me ever since and this march is, indeed, a crowning piece to have found and listened to. Thank you for posting it! Our family heritage being German, it is a proud one to be sure.
@@jamesblatchford816 Oh heavens. 3 years ago I mistakenly used an incorrect phrase when describing the set of operas by using the colloquial term for Tolkien's Ring Trilogy. I am SO, so very glad that some 2 years + later you came along and corrected me. I mean, I would never have known, otherwise, that there were four operas in the series. 🙄 That must have totally ruined and obscured the entire meaning of what I was trying to say to Dr. Ludwig, as well as the people who liked my comment in that span of time. You may rest easy in your pedantry - you have done your good deed for the day - or did, some 10 months ago.
Wow, very interesting to see all the Ring's different motifs compiled into a single march! Very cool. It all feels very inspiring in a way, and it helps that they used the more epic and triumphal motifs for it. You can hear the crack of Donner's hammer, the heroic hunting horn of Siegfried, the glimmer of his sword Nothung, and the echo of Walhall's chambers.

Esta marcha fue compuesta por el compositor alemán Gottfried Sonntag en el año 1877. Esta composición musical tiene por fundamento el anillo del Nibelungo de Richard Wagner.
I have heard this march many times, but I have not heard this arrangement with the introduction at the beginning. Is this a new arrangement? Thanks for posting.
I was educated in boarding School running for German brother, La Salle, in Chile and I was part of the School band, we always march with the Nibelugen, playing saxophone , great memory.
Die Nibelungen, eine großartige Saga, der Marsch ist ganz gut, wird aber Siegfried, Hagen und Co. nicht gerecht. Kannst du nochmal ein bisschen mehr Landsknechtmusik zusammenstellen?
@@FrauFlau By the way, in R. Wagner´s version of the myth, in Rheingold, he is a giant rather than a dwarf. And we are talking about Wagner and Wagners music here.
Great music of a great composer turned into some preposterous kitsch. No wonder why so many people, even famous film directors among them, associate Wagner with Nazism, war, military aggression...Well, as a neighbor of mine once put it, "When once God handed down thought ability and reason to people on Earth, the military were out on drills".
You think this march sounds so overly aggressive, that you connect it was nazism? oO Don't you exaggerate a little? It actually sounds quite festive and calm.
@@dr.ludwig No, this was just a secondary thought to the observation that the great music of Wagner's Ring has been turned into something much more elementary and banal. This march is like using Leonardo's Mona Lisa as a tablecloth. It is simply bad in itself, at least according to my aesthetic criteria, and beyond any historical or political interpretations. Nazism and military aggression are something that could potentially be linked to it but this is a mere consequence of the preceding.
There are hundreds of marches of opera pieces, it was normal for centuries to do that. Maybe you simply see the march genre itself as inferior. I think you should give it a try, composing marches can be just as beautiful as any other genre. Even Beethoven composed a march: th-cam.com/video/TZix2QJgWUQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5wEz7_R9Ih2qxHel&t=9
This march is, by far, the most vulgar, grotesque, absurd, tasteless, downright obscene parody of Wagner's music I have ever heard. It is so laughable that even Bugs Bunny's take on the Nibelungen seems serious in comparison. I would have applauded it if Sonntag had meant it as satire. But no, he deluded himself into thinking that he was actually composing a serious piece of music.
My brother is named after Siegfried.
This march is used by the chilean navy
Chile conoce lo bueno. Saludos desde España.

Es hermosa la disfruto mucho en las paradas lo malo es cuando habla el locutor, viva Chile libre de comunistas antipatriotas 🇨🇱

The Chilean Naval Academy traditional march for parades. I have many memories from parades I was part of when I was young.

The Ring is comprised of FOUR operas.

Eher aus dem kompletten Ring.
