What the hell? The guy couldn't answer a simple yes or no answer. If the law says its a crime, will you support the prosecution and trial of the responsible party? Will you try the thief for breaking the law? "Well, that's a very important issue..." That means 'No', because it's a simple question of the law and he either accepts the rule of law or he shouldn't be a judge.

If you’re actually interested in the answer it’s because it’s inappropriate to do so when being considered for a position that demands impartiality. You want your political beliefs and stances to be divorced from these proceedings as much as possible to maintain faith in our judiciary.

@@peterb6282 I've been exercising my reproductive rights for almost 45 years with no problems and have managed not to have an unwanted pregnancy. It's really not that difficult and the Supreme Court sent roe v Wade back to the states where it should have stayed to begin with. Maybe you should brush up on the roll of the Supreme Court and maybe read the Constitution and get back to us.

So freaking tired of nominees, especially judicial nominees, not answering direct questions with a direct answer. That goes for both Republican and Democratic nominees. We can blame Joe Biden, Ted Kennedy, and the Democrats for this behavior. It was those two and the Democratic party as a whole who started the charade with Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas that led to this with the shameful treatment of Brett Kavanaugh the latest in a long line of Democratic demagoguery. The blame cannot be laid at the feet of these nominees. Why would anyone want to be excoriated for simply telling their true beliefs and feelings? Droolin' Joe, Chappaquiddick Kennedy, and the Democratic party created this atmosphere beginning in 1987. This is a bit of grandstanding. He knows the guy can't answer the question. We go through this with judicial nominees all the time. They can't answer the question, so to ask it is just political theater. Sen. Kennedy knows that. This isn't his first rodeo. Yes, the ethic itself where a judicial nominees can't state an opinion because he has to put on this false cloak of impartiality is BS. Every judge swears to do that, and we expect that behavior on the bench. In reality, we're all human, and lawyers especially are highly opinionated people. We should be free to express those opinions publicly as citizens. Being a judge shouldn't preclude one from having political opinions so long as he rules on the facts in front of him.
It nothing else, letting these people answer would be like putting the sponsor tags on the jerseys of NASCAR drivers, so you at least know which special interests these nominees are working for. This guy clerked for Kagan. That's really all you need to know. He's a Left-wing activist.
