Thanks for the adventure, maybe those Rad fat tire bikes would be better in this sandy terrain. Love the colorful clothing, make it fun! Wildflowers are and nice to see. Cookies always!
First... Field of Dreams shirt. 😂😂👍👍 wonder how it couldn't be a super bloom. So much water. Awesome visit to your favorite place. Those bikes are really cool. See you soon. ❤
Wow! I hiked that Palm Canyon trail in January of 2022 and that stream you kept crossing was a dry wash. What a difference this years rains have made. Beautiful and green, and so many flowers. Are you going to channel Itchy Boots and put out three a week? 😲 I don’t know how she does it! For a while it looked like you were in Morocco.
Perfect timing for this video! I'll be coming down from Nor Cal (so tired of the cold temps here). Will be at Palm Campground Tuesday. Can hardly wait. Saw all the water crossings and ran and got my water sandals to put in my day pack.🙂
I hope there is still water running. After that hike I decided I needed to carry my water sandals as well because you just never know). I'm sure you'll get plenty of heat. Can tell it is finally spring time here. Enjoy your outing.
FSTM,,,,;;;;,HELLO DEBBIE AND JOHN, OH, such blooms, this year JUAN BROWNE,OF BLANCORLIO, on YT,flew over the hills all ablaze with flowers, YEARSago, the family drove their truck camper, then used his drone, anytime there is enough moisture,EVERYTHING GROWS,, .Now this trip, you had to cross that stream several times I believe most are there for the greenery & flowers,, ,so I see the palm trees are sparse,as to what it once was ,oh well, there are still some,, till next time,,,,, stay well, 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
We were watching Laura Kampf this morning (you'd love her channel if you don't already watch) and she put ketchup in her grilled cheese. That I hadn't seen before but will have to try it next time.
I have taken a few spills on my gravel grinder in the sand. The beauty is often worth the adventure even when I've had a few tumbles that lead to some briar & 🌵 where the sun dont shine.. Fortunetly I've always been able to laugh at myself and ride on. BTW, perhaps I missed an update.... whatsup w/the future Humble Ride?
to each their own, but we almost never balance on rocks or fallen trees when crossing water. We either change to river shoes and walk thru, or just wear our shoes/boots thru the water and then walk them warm or dry. Once past the first cool/cold crossing you don't even notice. If on a multi-day trek, just keep that one pair of warm fuzzy socks in a ziplock bag in your backpack for evening and sleeping. This method has served us from the Mojave to the Arctic, even guiding clients. My concern, of course, is falling. An injury can end the day, the trip, or even one's hiking passion. (I see below that water sandals got some mentions.)
We talked to the guy in the jeep at the top. He had planned to turn back when he saw the hill but we convinced him it was doable. And then we heard him bottom out and I felt badly that I might have been the cause of a breakdown. We're going to do that ride again next year. If you have any other washes you've down out there that you think we could do on our bikes, let me know.
I thought of you when I saw this video. Love the stuff he is creating: (not suggesting you need it but great ideas for those who may have some physical limitations but still want to get out there): th-cam.com/video/vuMg0QwKAGI/w-d-xo.html
Deinitely Itchy Boots territory. I didn't see any airing down of tires though. Ha, ha whipped cream on the chocolate chip cookies...of course! Isn't it amazing to see what the force of water can do to a landscape. The rain this year has really changed the path of rivers and streams. Nice hiken and biken on this trip, no falls, you two did well. How's the garden lookin this Spring, would love to see that, are your blueberries coming along? I remember you picking them for trips. Thanks for this week's video, you always put out a good one, your work pays off.
Itchy Boots reference made me laugh. She is amazing- I've also seen her. Her recent trip over the Rechat (spelling?)structure "eye of Africa " was incredible. It's like she has no fear, hanging out with actual nomadic people in Africa. You guys are amazing too! New ebikes. Next step motorcycles😊
What a beautiful palm grove, it’s always exciting to see water in these types of places that’s for sure. Boy the sand ride would of been fun and hard it gave you both a bit of a work out. Your new bikes seem to be doing a good job. Look forward to the next video on the comparisons. Cheers Judy from Australia, have a good week.🌹😀🐧
Wow! Never seen so much water in Palm Cyn. Cute music. Too bad about all the palms that got washed away. Greetings from the Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL
For me age and trail stability are enhanced by a pair of hiking sticks, a casual observation or maybe my personal preference always roots for you guys to get your own sets. Your presentations and destinatins are GREAT!
Thank you for sharing your hike & bike adventure with us. I look forward to your offerings every week. Have you ever explored the south side of Anza-Borego? More specifically Goat Canyon Trestle? Great bike adventure. Pull out Google maps: About a ten mile round trip bike ride from Dos Cabezas Rd, start about half a mile northwest of the famous Dos Cabezas water tank. Cross the tracks and follow the tracks west up the wash about a mile until you hit the tracks on the other side, then follow them south to the trestle. Much easier than the ride you just finished in this video. I look forward to your video if you do it. God Bless!
A few years ago one of our subscribers suggested I make mats out of a horse stall mat. You can check your area to see if anyone has an old mat they are getting rid of. The hard part is cutting them and boy do they stink when they are cut. You can make them any size but they are very heavy. I tried to find the video where I made them but was unsuccessful.
Watching you two wearing thosse peaked caps on your walks makes me want to suggest you google “ Tilley hats and get the sun off the back of your necks.
I really enjoyed the Palm Canyon Trail. I was first drawn to it after seeing a magazine showing a spectacular wildflower bloom along the trail.
We are hoping all this rain doesn't flood them out again.
great trip, thanks
Great maiden voyage for the bikes for sure. They look awesome.
Thanks for the adventure, maybe those Rad fat tire bikes would be better in this sandy terrain. Love the colorful clothing, make it fun! Wildflowers are and nice to see. Cookies always!
Nice soundtrack🎉
Really beautiful
You two are so cute! I just found you ❤
Welcome.
Loved it!!
Thanks for the video. I love the Borrego area. It is hard to believe how much water was in the creek.
First... Field of Dreams shirt. 😂😂👍👍 wonder how it couldn't be a super bloom. So much water. Awesome visit to your favorite place. Those bikes are really cool. See you soon. ❤
Such great memories. I didn't realize he was wearing it until I saw it in editing.
Great fun video. Thank you.
That looked like an industrial-sized whip cream can in John's hand LOL. What a place as well.
He's so bummed because Costco stopped selling his favorite whipped cream--Land O Lakes. He mentions it every time we are in the store.
Lol. That was fun. You had me tilting my head at every turn of your e-bike. 😂

I don't know how she does it either! She's amazing!
The wildflowers are beautiful! Thank you for taking us along. I can’t wait for our next visit to this wonderful place.
Nice ride video !
Beautiful adventure! How special to catch the greenery and flowing water in the desert!
We are sitting in Borrego Springs watching your video this morning and thoroughly enjoyed not. Thanks for sharing.
I bet it's a bit warmer than when we were there. Hopefully still nice and green.
You can ride at my speed, Debbie.
Palm canyon is one of my favorite hikes ever! Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful scenery, great walk(ers), great bike ride(rs). Thanks!

Well that was fun. Next time add whipping cream to the salsa 😂

@@FromShetoMe thanks Debbie, I will have a look. I hadn’t heard of her.
Now I m hooked on Laura's channel. I have tool envy too.

Should start soon. I'll keep everyone posted as soon as there is some progress.

We were totally caught off guard with the water. I actually keep a great pair of water shoes in the van but need to keep them in my pack.
Inspiration Wash was an excellent adventure in my Ford Explorer - what a view and fun 4-wheelin!

Great video as usual. You two go to such neat places!
Deinitely Itchy Boots territory. I didn't see any airing down of tires though. Ha, ha whipped cream on the chocolate chip cookies...of course! Garden is amazing. John is out weeding every day. Poppies have taken over. Blueberries will likely be late but the rain was appreciated by all.
@@FromShetoMe The poppies here have taken over as well and they are so pretty against the purple lupin and the purple irises. The bees are in heaven.

John is such a guy at the first crossing. You both get 10s for style, balance & performance for all your crossings.
The bloom is fabulous to see.
Wow! Never seen so much water in Palm Cyn. Cute music. Too bad about all the palms that got washed away. Greetings from the Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL
Go Trash Pandas!
Noraly would be proud! What do you like about the new bikes over the rad bikes?
Come back next week and I'll have a video just about bikes.
For me age and trail stability are enhanced by a pair of hiking sticks, a casual observation or maybe my personal preference always roots for you guys to get your own sets. Your presentations and destinatins are GREAT!
We both have a pair but I can't hold cameras and sticks at the same time so end up taking just one. Don't know what John's excuse is.
I would like very much to know what osprey backpack you are using. Thank you
Unfortunately they don't make this one anymore. It's been a favorite.
Do you miss the power of your former bikes? Or does the lower weight of the new ones more than compensate? I enjoy your videos every week!
On a steep hill I miss the power but I also like getting more exercise. And if it is really steep or thick sand, I don't mind walking.

What are your mats you use to level the van? We need those!!

The hard part is cutting them and boy do they stink when they are cut. You can make them any size but they are very heavy. I tried to find the video where I made them but was unsuccessful.
have y’all told
us about the new type
of mikes you bought ? Maybe i missed it ?
I think you meant "bikes" instead of "mikes." I mentioned it last week and should have done it again. They are Specialized Levo SL.
Those new bikes open up more trails, don't they? Looked like a difficult ride up even with e bikes. You guys are great.
They at least give us access to trails restricted to Class 1 bikes. Yes, difficult even with ebikes. Sand is a killer.
Watching you two wearing thosse peaked caps on your walks makes me want to suggest you google “ Tilley hats and get the sun off the back of your necks.
I actually have a Tilley hat and lots of other hats that protect the back of the neck. Might take one this summer as we plan to do much more hiking.
New bikes? What brand?
Specialized Levo SL
