- We are talking about what we eat in a day! This has been very requested and we are discussing dog nutrition and dog diet in today's video!
This has been a challenge to find the right formula to fit two types of dogs: 1- the type that isn't picky with food and gains weight easily and 2- the type that is picky and struggles with weight gain.
We wanted to find something that would help both girls and make our life easier by them eating the same thing. We feed them a mix of Orijen Six Fish (or poultry) and Canisource Grand Cru (usually fish formula).
We feed them both 3/4 cup per day (plus a night time snack) according to the following schedule:
1/4 cup in the morning
1/4 cup at lunch
1/4 cup at dinner
snack before bedtime
This is perfect for Milton because she gets hungry very fast, plus she tends to be nauseous (and sometimes vomits) in the morning if she doesn't get food before bedtime. The portion also works perfectly for Herky since she gains weight easily. She is also very happy to be eating more often! haha

Hi! My dog used to have so many tummy issues with kibble 😢 we tried various brands for sensitive stomachs. He was sooooo picky too!! Never wanted to eat , sometimes had to hand feed. I was scared to change his diet, but with the help of our amazing holistic vet I changed to raw🙂 and what a difference!!! No more tummy issues for a year now! He loves the food and he went from a strict diet to eating almost everything ❤️ I add fruit and veggies and some supplements. He eats eggs, sardines, cottage cheese, kefir. He has blood tests every six months and is doing great! Love your pups❤️
I really enjoyed this video. Our pup pack have been eating raw (human grade dehydrated and frozen) for almost 5 years now and the benefits have been endless on our end! One rescue went off all thyroid meds and was weaned off heart failure meds within a year and the others have just greatly benefited with their all around health. Mine are all seniors and boy has it really brought out the puppy in them. Note: I also have added supplements to their diet along with fruit and veggies and oils.

We have the same type of dog. We were spending so much money at the vet because of allergies and ear infections. He would get heat spots , raw area on stomach , between paws and ear infections were getting so bad they had to sedate him to clean out 😔 someone informed us about raw and their experience with their dogs. So we switch our baby to raw and since then he has had ZERO skin problems , skin allergies or ear infections. He loves eating it now.
Our cavelier quickly did not eat any chunks as a puppy. We then gave raw meat (Carnibest). It is up within 5 seconds. She loves it and she has a beautiful coat, little feces and is super healthy. She will be 5 years old in December.

My dogs don't like eating out of metal bowls. When I changed to plastic, they ate much better. Also, I give part of their meal in a bowl and part in a treat ball which makes it more fun for them. No more problems with getting them to eat. Love your videos. Keep them coming!

LOVE IT!!! My Cav was just like Herky! He always would catch flies & eat them (we don't have many flies but if there was one flying around he would get it).

Obsessed with feeding my dogs raw and educating on raw
We have feed our cavies Canisource for the last 5 years. It is so true about the grass. Makes such a huge difference. Also the amount of tears and staining - hardly any at all. Also their poo will disintegrate closer like raw diet ( where on raw their poo will turn to dust within 2 days ) We love this dog food!!!!
Also we add 1/2 cup hot water to the cani-source - let stand for 10 minutes softens it up real nice
I feed our first cavi BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) / RAW for a number of year when I was a stay at home cavi mum, but when I went back to work and when we started camping, we switched to cani-souce. I would prefer to feed BARF or RAW, but the time and clean up takes a lot of time. Also we found a lot of resistance from vets and animal professionals. We only switched due to convenience and time management for us. We would not have switched if he had not found cani-source. We also tried the orygen for a bit, but found the protein % was too high for our cavi at the time.

The high protein was very unsettling for Maysin's tummy. He was having consistent loose stool / diarrhea and out vet and breeder thought it was due to the high protein, once we switched it was never a problem again

Orijen is the best dog food around ... mix of Orijen and raw. The got goat milk when they were pups

My Labrador was on raw food he had nature's menu and did really well on it but did have to remember to get food out of freezer. It was cheaper than the food he's on now which is a dry kibble. He had raw to begin with because he is allergic to some foods such as wheat and beef so he was on raw chicken or turkey as well. He now has a hypoallergenic kibble called Burns and he has canned pilchards on top which helps his coat be super shiny.

That's so cute, and I appreciate the feeding tips as I am looking at possibly taking in a Cavalier King Charles puppy or young adult hopefully before the end of summer. I've heard not so good things about pet food and about how I should be making my own, but I don't know how well I would keep up with that. I'll definitely look into that pet food you were talking about and I figure I might on occasion cook up some ground beef with some brown rice as my cleaning lady said someone feeds her dog.
my biggest concern about it is that while I don't have to work a nine-to-five job, I do have a freelance job where I scan groceries for a shopping app so I need to go to different stores in my area and this would be my first time owning a dog. Also, I would only get one (ESA means no pet rent!) and I'm wondering how I could ensure that she fares well when I'm not home. Besides, I still have church on Sundays as well.

if you love your dogs as it seems you do, please, do them a huge favor- feed them raw diet! it healthy, natural and tasty for any dog!!! there are tons of info on the net about raw feeding. It doesnt have to be expensive. I make my own mixtures and it cost us around $60 a month but makes my pooch happy, with a great coat and full of energy!please, please, read about raw feeding! your dogs are adorable and we wish you guys the best!

Just wondering...What’s your thoughts on Iams & Scientific Brand dog food
My dog is the pickiest ever when it comes to food, that's why he's raw fed. I fed him wet dog food at first but the only kind he liked gave him gave him diarrhea. Then, I tried to switch to a good kind of kibble. He wouldn't even touch his bowl and hand feeding only worked for about a week🙄😂 Now on raw, he's excited as can be when he gets his meals and jumps around my legs till I set down his bowl. It makes me incredibly happy to see him finally enjoy his food😍

The breed have problems with heart murmers. Our Bella did not have a problem with it or have any medication. The only problem we had later in her life were her Anal glands. Generally it was just the one side, but with medication it soon cleared up within a around a week. Bella did have meat but the vet put her on dry food after her first bout of Anal trouble which firststarted at around 7 y/o/ But she used to have a roast dinner every sunday when we had ours. Ours used to love her cup of tea three or four times a day.
our dogs were fed raw for about a year because our labrador has a wheat allergy, however we changed to burns dry food which is natural and hypoallergenic because we like to take our dogs on holiday with us and we couldn't bring the raw food with us :) they love their new diet would highly recommend

I feed raw and kibble! We have 9 Cavis and some are like Milton and others like Herky! I follow Dr. Judy Morgan and Dr. Karen Becker. I make Judy Morgan's puploaf recipe, but feed raw instead of cooked. I add garlic, brewer's yeast and turmeric and probiotics. Everyone in the comments is proclaiming how great raw diets are, but I feel bad because it just wouldn't work for us. Our dog Phoebe hates healthy stuff like the diva she is, and refuses to eat most fruits and vegetables which are so important for raw diets. And prepackaged raw isn't an option either, she's a Golden Retriever and it's just not financially possible to feed a dog her size prepackaged raw. (We're talking about an 80 pound tank of a dog here, not the 65 pound breed standard) At least she does well on high quality kibble and wet food.
Deku Kitty wow I've never heard of a picky golden retriever. I have a labrador retriever and he would eat anything the only time he got picky was when he wasn't feeling well and only ate fish for the day once he was on meds he bounced back. Our beagle can be a little picky trying new things but once hes tried it he will stop at nothing to get more!
Lucius Maximus She'll eat anything that isn't fruits or vegtables. Our other Golden loved them. Not her though!
My Cavalier whos 9 eats Royal Canin kibble with a small about of Harringtons wet ,she won't eat it dry & fed twice a day... raw would be no good for her she wont eat vegetables or fruit Cavaliers are different only you who knows them it's not always text book

Herky and Milton are so cute! When I spoke to my vet, she told me to make sure the food she eats has some grains in it. She feels its better because of heart problems cavi's can get. What are your thoughts on this?

Orijen is wayy to high in protein and fat for any small dog. I have a miniature schnauzer and they need low fat and low protein. i like to be around 23-25% protein and 11%-15% fat with added fish oil to food once a day
Do you have any opinion of Taste of the Wild (Salmon), or the Blue Buffalo puppy food?
I learned about the Raw Diet from the channel Simply Rox. She will tell you from an owner's stand point about the benefits of raw. If you want to learn more about it, look up Dr. Karen Becker with Mercola Health here on TH-cam. She can explain it even better. I'd love to feed raw if I had a dog but it's really expensive.

if your girls have soft stools add some rice w/their regular food
Train of thought now from holistic view is cooked pumpkin is better because it is fibre. Rice turns to sugar when metabolized which is inflammatory.
