    One suggestion. Before adding anything into the tank, you might want to get some egg crate (light diffuser) plastic grate for the bottom of the tank which you can shape with a pair of needle nose pliers. to prevent any pressure points by the bricks and stones from breaking the bottom glass. Also some sand placed in between the egg crate spaces would also help.

    Good stiff. Another way to build up bacteria quickly is using some filter media from another tank. Also you can use water taken from another tank.

      They sell the bacteria in stores already i heard its not good to mix water from other tanks cause you never know what the pet store had and can give disese to the fish you had in the tank already

    Just for future reference put down pure topsoil first about a quarter inch to an inch then sand.. and then your rock.. this will allow you to plant plants start a bioactive environment with healthy bacteria... Allow your animal to dig and burrow as it does naturally..and protect the glass from scratches and so on.

    FYI shrimp are more sensitive to bad water conditions than fish are. Always cycle a tank for at least 3-6 weeks. If you have any live plants like salvinia, red root floaters frog bit ow water sprite add those in to the tank to help absorb nitrates.

    • @mikejames1860
      @mikejames1860 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      this dummy put shrimp in with a side neck anyway that was his first mistake a side neck is a pretty decent eater when it comes to things in the tank this includes fish mollusks and shrimp shrimp are definitely not something It should be eating anyway.. definitely not but I agree with you definitely should have cycled the tank better

    i think you should link all the stuff you use in the description. there’s some way that you can become an amazon affiliate, and so when people click on the link and buy stuff, you get a small portion of the sales

    Dear sir, I am staying in Malaysia, I just bought a pink belly side neck turtle about 2 inches 2 weeks ago. I keep it in a 4ft x 8ft outdoor pond with natural sunlight and the pond is 2.5 ft deep. For the 2nd and 3rd day, I saw this turtle basking on the drift wood, but after the 4th day, this turtle just vanish and I could not see it swimming around the pond. I am worried as whether this turtle could be stuck in between the rocks or driftwoods. I also keep this cute turtle with a fly river turtle, African side neck turtle and a yellow spotted river turtle and also with some various type of omnivores fishes together. For the African sideneck and yellow spotted turtle, they seems to bask everyday under the sun, except for the pink belly side neck turtle. Could this cute turtle be hiding deep under the drift woods, or it could be stuck somewhere else beneath the pond. I would appreciate for some advise and guidelines from your goodself, sir. Thank you. David.

    What's strange is that when I visited my mom and I visited my sister, I saw a turtle crossing a street that was pretty good sized; but I was too busy with police to help it get access the street; but the turtle was alright.

    To set up a suitable home for a sideneck, including literally everything, what would a realistic budget be? Me and my boyfriend would love one but want to know we have the funds to look after them properly :)

    That filter is not adequate for that tank. You should go with a canister filter. I have an FX2 and another 407 fluval for a 75g. Also rocks trap a lot of debris, better to use sand or blasting sand.

  • @lalalacey3112

    This filter won't be enough for any turtle. It should be 3 times bigger than your tank. So 100 gallon aquarium should have a filter rated for 300 gallons. Go with a fluval fx4 or fx6. If you're going to house more than 1 turtle in a single aquarium please have a back up as they can fight to the death. Turtles are solitary but okay with some fish if you do your research.

      I just purchased 3 albino pink belly sidenecks and started doing videos. I have not seen mine eat plastic plants though lolol. I posted my first two albino pink belly sidenecks on this TH-cam video below (with learning how to do videos) . I will need to get videos of my albino red ear slider eggs hatching out soon with videos of my adults as well.
      Below is a TH-cam link of my first two albino pink belly sidenecks but later today I will upload a video of all 3. Here is the link.
