it doesn't need to kill COD, it needs to fulfill the want for an fps with no SBMM in casual matches. COD gave that up so ubisoft is answering the players who miss that aspect. cosmetically all of the weapons have some sort of damage as is and some even look like patchwork weapons with certain attachments too. Some of the issues related to net-code are already either fixed or in the process of being fixed. and as far as skills go the recon is the best hands down but there are a lot uses for most of them if you can be a little more creative. i literally nuked a full squad because i flanked them on obj with a firebomb.
I definitely agree that it needs to fulfill that casual fps niche. But as of right now, I feel like with the movement (which they're working on) and the lack of game modes and basic weapons it's struggling to do so. I think the devs are committed to making this game work though so I hope we see XDefiant thriving and fulfilling something COD can't.

Mid game using the whole 'no sbmm' thing to market itself. Casuals will play and realise it's a terrible experience. Try hards will have fun for a while but once the casuals stop playing they'll just be playing against other try hards and start calling it a sweatfest. They might even start to claim they added sbmm lmao.

Sweats are the ones who are overly critical over any changes (which is why post MW2019 CoD has been seemingly very split up between different groups yet nothing outside of comments on social media reflects that there is any issue). Casuals are the ones that buy most mtx. Amount of MTX bought impacts the amount of new content. No new content makes sweats mad and that's how you get a nice loop. Look at Battalion 1944, look at Heroes of The Storm, look at R6 Siege. There are many more examples of games that either are dead or were close to dying but were brought back because of changes that made casuals interested. Ffs I used to play in smaller tournaments and would consider myself a sweat in the past, now I just wanna relax after work without making my girl mad and maybe grind some camos or something like that. 70€ a year for what I consider to be a good experience is nothing compared to waiting 5-10 minutes per match for a random lobby of wannabe pros to play on the least inspired maps in existence which have to be that way because this is the esports way of making maps, using the guns designed from ground up to not shine among the rest, doing a grind that takes 3500 hours of in game time if I play my best for all of those... I'm too old for that shit, have my 70€ and allow me to have a life outside of the game while still being able to achieve something in it.
Ngl I wanna love the game but bc it’s stale I can’t keep playing just waiting on more content to truly tell hopefully with this 1st season it’ll fill some of that void so that I can enjoy it while it adds more

This game is currently unplayable with its current bugs since updating. Literally there’s a bug that stop you from moving when you respawn. Going on the Reddit is toxic, and criticism of the game is always deleted. It has also become a sweat fest. Thank for not glazing it for 30 minutes
