- I had three days to come with bird photography. What more can you wish for. I knew there would be magpies and jay. But what I hopet for was for the sparrowhawk to hunt in the same area. In the autumn the sparrowhawks are migrating and are a lot more active hunting.
Leiv Arne Åkset has made a hide where he puts out nuts and seeds for the magpie and jay. And sometimes the sparrowhawk comes to hunt them.

I enjoyed the entire experience with you, Trond. The pouring rain. The birds not coming in. And then the beautiful photographs. All of them were world class and it would be hard to pick a favorite, but that first shot of the little wren really was a great composition and excellent exposure.

Hi Trond ,I always enjoy your videos. It's great to see your excitement as you patiently wait and then it finally pays off! All of us wildlife photographers know the feeling! Beautiful photography as always Trond. I have a big question for you sir? Are you totally using mirrorless Z9 now? Did you part ways with your D500 and D4s ? Just wondering cuz I also have the Z9 and I'm finding it very difficult to get rid of my D4s but I feel that the mirrorless is the new Era. Wow always reminds me when I see a Sparrow Hawk, of how one landed in our Apple tree at the bottom of my Garden ! Ten minutes after I had just put my brand new Sigma 500 mm f4 lens on to try it ! Well it is the sort of luck required to photograph one of these beauties ! Only captured it in the tree preening, marvelous to have it in an open position like that Trond ! Awesome 😍

What is the bait you use for the Sparrow hawk this time, do you still use roadkill?
No bait. The sparrowhawk do not take roadkill. They are in the area natural to hunt the jay and magpie.
@@trondwestby5264 Oh i see.. so, you put the bait for the little birds to come in, then naturally the Sparrow Hawks will eventually come and check the little birds.. thank you, i'm starting to learn how bait photography works.
Is anyone else bothered by the spreading of seeds to attract small birds to a specific spot so that the sparrowhawk can more easily hunt them? So that photographers can get a photo? Providing food to attract an animal to be photographed is one thing. But doing so to use the animal as bait is IMO quite another.
It's a Female Sparrowhawk not a Male 👍
