This composer, Mozart and this listener, a Chinese. I wonder what it would be like if we met. I do have some hints. I had 2 Austrian coworkers. We liked each other and shared our personal thoughts when others weren't listening. I also met a lot of Germans, and British, and we got along very well.
I don't think you can do better than Mozart to make you see how beautiful music in intimate modes can be. I try to compose, too. Listen to the songs not of Schubert but those in Polish and Russian by Anna German. They make creative muses go wild in me.

The first theme of the trio K 564 (20:21) is very similar to the first theme of the final movement of Devienne's Sinfonie concertante [F] pour cor et basson (1785) : th-cam.com/video/4CB6EQHOQug/w-d-xo.html . Mozart's trio is from 1788 and Devienne's Symphony from 1785.
+Giuseppe Fochesato This is a controversial issue, but personnally I think that he would approve of modern instruments, because of their intrinsic quality, rather than the issue whether they are period or modern instruments. I generally prefer Mozart and Haydn on modern instruments, because I find that they do them better justice. On the other hand for baroque music I tend to prefer period instruments e.g. for chamber music, though I usually prefer Bach's keyboard music on the modern piano.
Very much enjoyed this discussion! My two cents: Mozart seemed to like innovations, the new, all sorts of things that opened up expressive possibilities. Thus, his fascination with adding clarinets to the symphony orchestra. Of course, the clarinets of his time were very primitive. Just imagine what he might have written for one of our contemporary instruments. Awfully fun to day dream about that!
The most advanced of Mozart"s trios dorm a kind of bridge between Haydn"s concept, where the cello play in unison with the too weak bass of the pianoforte, ans the violin add an expressive voice in the upper parts, and Beethoven strings indépendance, particularly cello considered as a tenor part. They are indeed closer to Haydn's ones, but they alse exhibit some advanced features of their own. All this is expressed theough the outstanding Mozartien rich and fluid language, whilst Haydn's is more "sharp'.
@@BuckshotLaFunke1 Indeed "metallic" may not be the right word here. Anyway it seems to me that the Bösendorfer is a little closer to the sound of the fortepiano than most modern pianos such as Steinway or Fazioli.

modern insruments are meant for modern halls. For me, unless I'm in a very small venue, capture more overtones that elude period instruments

I happen to disagree. A Steinway is softer and muffles your mistakes.
