    the pearls are likely real. But they are artificial in a way that the clams are force feed a sand particle for a specific interval of time. There are many pearl farms in china and usually the pearls produced artificially like so are not as valuable as natural pearls from wild clams. They are however still more valuable than plastic or synthetic pearls.

    You can test if the pearl is real or not. Simply rub the pearl against your tooth, softly. If the pearl is natural or cultured, you will feel the surface as gritty. If the pearl is a faux gem, then the surface will feel smooth. Hope it helped 😊

  • @Xiellion

    pearls are pretty easy to farm so they probably are real, all you need to do to grow pearls is put grains of sand inside oysters, they naturally will build a pearl around it so the sand doesn't irritate it's insides

      they are real pearls, but they farm them by putting the grit or foreign material needed to form them into the clams, letting them grow, and then removing them once they're large enough. Then, because people want to buy the novelty of "finding" a real pearl in a clam, they put them into a few of the clams that grew them, preserve them in alcohol or formaldehyde, and then ship them to the buyers. The giant shell with lots of pearls was also real, but they hadn't "processed it" the way they did the smaller ones, and just shipped it with the insides still intact.
      They MAY have artificially colored the pearls to be those darker shades, but they're still real freshwater pearls. They're just not worth anywhere near as much as wild-caught pearls, and especially not as expensive as those that have a perfect spherical shape. But some people like the look of freshwater, ovoid and oblong and otherwise bizarrely-shaped pearls better. There are honestly a whole myriad of shapes and styles of pearls you can get, these days. I bought a bag of 100 freshwater pearls for about $10 online (I make jewelry) and have been eyeing up some lovely "stick" pearls as well. You can even dye them yourself, if you like, you just have to be careful not to use an acidic dye because they can be dissolved in acids very easily, and they might not retain the same lustre they had before, if you color them.

    Only one pearl forms in a clam. And , real pearls form in the flesh of the main body. Right in the middle. Not near the shells

  • @paranoiarpincess
    @paranoiarpincess 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    They are farmed pearls as others have said. They are real but in farmed pearls they will often put a bead into the clam's shell, and wait about 3 years or so. They then sell them. The thing is, that's not very long for a pearl to develop and so there will only be a small amount of the actual pearl enamel on the bead whereas with all natural pearls, its typically a grain of sand that gets coated over and over, allowing for there to be a very thick layering of the enamel onto the tiny piece of sand.
    Fun fact: I once got a pearl in a can of Clam Chowder! It was extremely tiny and had I not bitten right onto it and thought they left a super tiny pebble in the clam meat, I would have never known it was there!

  • @bohemiansusan2897

    Yes the pearls are real but in most cases they were put inside of the clam or oyster. Hence it being easy to get the pearls out of the smaller shells and major color variations. The large one could be natural...

    Pearls r made by an item that's shouldn't b in the clam being in there n pearl wraps the item put inside the clam with it's "clam spit" which hardens n that is the pearl.

    Only one pearl can grow in a clam at a time i think
    Edit: Just saw the second one and i stand corrected, the second one was a genuine clam! Might of been from pearl farmers though

    5:22 The pearls were definitely placed there. Otherwise the pearls would have been embedded in the flesh.

    They are real purls. what they do is take a live clam and inject it with sand so that the clam forms the purls while it is alive. Farmed purl is only worth a few euros each where as if they where natural you could be looking at around 2,000-4,000 Each
