If you are getting a new GTI I suggest save your money and just get the base trim. Same engine but you also get the VAQ limited slip and Golf R brakes on the base trim since 2019. Everything you could need is on the S. You can add the headlights later aftermarket if you want. All the extras they throw into the top trim aren't really worth the price tag in my opinion.
AsianRetroGamer its an Electronic LSD. Its supposed to be very good from everything I've heard. I have an older GTI S so all I have is the XDS+ which just simulates an LSD (though it does it decently well) I wish I had the VAQ though.
I like how you think. I like the plaid seats as well, and so the S suits me. Your tip about replacing the halogen headlights aftermarket is a good one! Thanks!
Great review. Love my '16 GTI, not sure about the MK8 though. I was hoping for more horsepower and torque and I'm not quite sold on the interior dash being all touchscreen.
James E. I do think all the touch areas are a little frustrating but I love the Tesla Model 3 set up so I guess I can’t complain. I do like the looks on the front of this more though.
James E. You make a good point. I prefer the 7 to the 8. The all digital touchscreen dash is not my cup of tea...I can only think about the cost of that thing to replace if it fails!
I actually like the analogue guages buttons, cd player aux, ac controls, and volume and real buttons and switches over the cheap membrane looking controls over the digital cockpit in the 2021 version. I do not like gloss black plastic though. a real handbrake is a god send.
I love my 2019 Volkswagen GTI Autobahn pure white with my AEM Dry flow intake and Borla S-Type Catback she purrs overall it’s a really nice daily driver; and feels more expensive on the inside than most hot hatches in this class.
Man, nice vid, but you need a better camera mount. The shake is pretty intense for auto reviews. The glare from the sun is pretty bad too. Good review though.
Hello guys! if i had the money i would buy this generation not the new. However i would pick a used one with low mileage in order to not absorb the depreciation.
Dakota Wester they are actually autobahn. My friend’s 7.5 GTI is autobahn and came with those blade wheels. It differs between markets though, 19’s is an option but will take time for the car to be ready.
8:12 lol the trim came off. My Mk7 brake only goes 2-3 clicks. Btw, the Golf is a MUCH nicer car than the Jetta, and that continues with the GTI and GLI, and you noticed in driving as well with the Beats vs Fender (Panasonic) stereo.
What the hell is going on with the nav screen? Shows straight roads and zero bends as he's cranking the wheel through the twisties? Makes no sense, map must have been stuck?
Maybe you should do a little more research on the car before you decide to "review" it... first you said it said has 19" wheels when they're 18". You also said they're Autobahn specific, when they are the wheels that come on every GTI trim in America. Then you said it doesn't have automatic wipers, when it does. You said the trim piece above the glovebox lights up at night, when it doesn't. Then you said the park assist only works for parallel parking, when it also works for perpendicular... the list just goes on and on..
The Mk8 looks are not great, and the interior is all touch controls. No thanks. I’m waiting to see if we get a 2021 Wolfsburg edition or similar but I’m going to be trading in my Sportwagen for a GTI. Mk7 rules.

the interior is trash, I have a 7.5 GTI and I have a digital display, full LED taillights and headlights and a 9.2 inch infotainment screen... one second, it’s the SE model
@@forrestsautoreviewsofficial ssr1680 is referring to engine-related unexpected stalling issues that have nothing to do with your driving. If so, this warrants an immediate recall because unexpected stalling can kill and is a dire safety issue. My manual 17 GTI has not done it. The issue may be limited to 2019s.
I read a gti fan thread about the stall issue. Its been fixed by vw, now they have quite a few of those models which had the issue which were not sold until they were fixed. thats why i think vw asked this dude to review the 2019, to persuade potential buyers to buy all this 2019’s. Which they need to sell. How i know this? I recently bought me a mk7.5 and saw a bunch of them models and sales people desperately trying to sell them.

ElTigreLobo I have the ‘17 S model and I would like the push button start and blind spot feature. Other than that, the upgrades seem too pricey
The 2019 models the LSD is it a mechanical variety or a braking assisted one? Should I get a aftermarket LSD

BiggieBruce that doesn’t make it right. VW need to upgrade the GTI if it wants to keep up with the market

Well done mate!! Nice ride, nice driving... This car sounds like melody!!
Golf for ever!
Great review on GLI so I came to see your GTI review. Keep up the good work, and I can see you're channel growing fast.
I appreciate that man!! Thanks for watching!
I got one! And the man does not lie! 💯 Truth! It handles the turns real sick!
Man great vid and great camera view on the test drive
I agree
The color is gorgeous! Like the 7 more over the 8 because of the hood hydraulic strut rod.

Still have my 2011 gti autobahn love it
Can't wait to get this as my next vehicle!
yay! glad you uploaded now!
GracieTheGiraffe 🙂👍
I have owned double digit # of hatchbacks! They are fun and cool!
It certainly does have rain sensing wipers... it’s standard on all trims

Great car and review. You need some image stabilization on that camera. It was pretty bad on the drive.
Jesse James apparently my suction cup wasn’t fully secured. Should not happen again! 😃
The spec wheels are 18" not 19" as you report (3:00-3:06)
Forest! Great job on the review
Funny thing is I was just starting to look at these mk7 gtis lol
Devonte Murray thinking of getting one?
Woooo you did it! 🙌🥳
How would you compare it to the polo gti. Would you spend the extra 15k for the golf? Or is the polo gti good enough?
Hello guys! if i had the money i would buy this generation not the new. However i would pick a used one with low mileage in order to not absorb the depreciation.
Awesome video I think I’ll get the
Good thing it's going to come down in price
Minor correction, these wheels are not autobahn specific, unless they are 19s??? My 19se has the same 18 inch Austin wheels.

Keys/coins sliding around during the driving portion is pretty distracting.

Do the lower trims of the GTI handle just as good as the autobahn?
I’m sure. The Autobahn is actually heavier than the base model due to heavier materials used in the interior.
Forrest's Auto Reviews Which materials are heavier than the base S trim?
Volkswagen das Auto 💪
Did you have any stalling issue?
MegaBuguk Just once but it was mainly me getting used to the clutch.
@@forrestsautoreviewsofficial I have a 19 s mt model no stalling at all.
Those wheels are not Audubon specific. Unless I got lucky and my gti and my friends 18 gti came with them. They are not.
Id go with the GLI over this

The new style mk8 is ugly af. I’d take the seats from the mk8 and that’s all I can think of right now.
The 2021 is going to be the first MK8 not the 2020 not coming until mid 2021.

Volkswagen needs to get rid of that hump on the floor, in the rear. Honda did away with that loonngg agggoooo, much more convenient.
Not worth it lol
Good choice the new one looks ugly af
Buddy your 2019 is one fucking year old, are you serious? "Still Worth It In 2020"?
The stalling problems are real bro , DON'T BUY IT!!!!
ssr1680 Really?? I stalled it once but that was because the clutch takes a little getting used to. Other than that it drove phenomenally well!
