He said in one video that he grew up pretty poor, so I'm guessing he doesn't waste food/isn't picky. That's how a lot of people who grew up without much are. Never waste anything and most things are at least okay tasting if they're edible.

When you get them fresh that nice crispy edge of the shell with the softer part that the meat soaked into is awesome

Del Taco is a way of life. As a former employee, so much is made fresh there and tastes way more authentic than other establishments.
Yeah I need to get more familiar with their menu. I know for sure that I like their basic tacos better than taco bell's because, at least at my local one, they actually stuff that shell full of meat and cheese. Taco Bell's are practically empty. However, Taco Bell has other menu items that I really like.

I love love love Jack In The Box tacos. They're proudly unhealthy greasy out of the fryer. Crazy cheap too in the app where you can get them for 2 for .99 cents. I'll go there and get 10 for 5 dollars and pig out

Every once in a while, maybe every 6 months I get a craving for Taco Bell.
I think also a major difference between American fast food tacos, and a solid street taco is the fact that it's meant to be eaten within a few minutes of ordering it. Especially if it's a hard taco shell.

@@creepnasty5370 That’s very interesting, I don’t mind them, but they’re so cheap the meat is practically meat paste. I would’ve thought they’d see them as way too bastardized of a taco. Frankly I’m used to people acting like the only good taco is a traditional soft corn tortilla taco, even though personally I prefer flour/hard shell.

As a Del Taco fanboy I think you kind of messed up giving them the "Street taco" - you should have given them a hard shell Del Taco because it would have compared better to Taco Bell.
100% they use to be called "classic tacos" Del Taco changed the name to "the del taco" the Del Taco in Barstow, CA has there own twist on it. They use a whole round tomato slice.
I get the "Del Taco" with pico de gallo instead of regular tomato and I have them add sour cream. That's how I like mine 🫡

I was a bit annoyed by that. I was hoping for more Tex-Mex tacos for them to rate, but they really seemed to want to go for the ones trying to be Mexican tacos and only gave them Tex-Mex tacos when there was Mexican taco option.

They were hungry at the beginning, haha. As they get fuller they get more critical about something needing more flavor or more cilantro.
I wish we had more than just Taco Bell as far as “Mexican” fast food goes here in the Northeast US. I love Taco Bell every now and then, but it gets old. The only other options are proper Mexican restaurants, but I’d hate to pay $16 for 3 tacos.

El Pollo Loco originated in Mexico.I love their chicken and beans. Some of the salsas are a bit bland but they offer fresh serrano/jalapeno so im game

Vicente's the man, he knows what's up. He's not picky, very open minded, if it tastes good, it tastes good. Folks keep saying "hard shell" tacos aren't real tacos, but they're a Mexican invention. Taco Bell may have made them nationally popular, but folks need to stop saying they're not real tacos and turning their nose up at them.

red shirt dad is too judgemental imo. white shirt dad is an OG. giving taco bell a 10 and his reasoning behind it is solid. eating isn't always about taste, sometimes its about sustenance. you got 3-5 kids in the car and you're on a schedule, you're going to go with the cheapest and quickest options. kids arent snobs like adults, theyll eat whatever and act like its gourmet lol. I agree with him though, my most memorable meals arent the ones I had when I was on top, they were the ones I ate when I was in the mud. something about eating that struggle meal when things get better just hits different. its a nostalgic flavor that reminds you to appreciate what you have. for some people thats taco bell, mcdonalds, cup ramen, for me it was a tortilla with a slice of quesadilla cheese nuked in the microwave.

the problem with jack in the box tacos is they don't put the taco sauce on them anymore. you have to put at least a half packet of their hot sauce on a jack taco to make it an old school 2 for 99 cent taco. trust me. do it. put the taco sauce on the jack taco

Look, I like fast food tacos, but even I know the difference. There were an awful lot of generous scores given. I definitely learned more from the harshest scores but I'm not sure how consistent the scoring was. Anyway, I know Taco Bell tacos aren't anything like the authentic Central American tacos I've had, served out of a small house in the neighborhood near my work. The Lingua are still hands down my favorite. But even Taco Bell is better than a hamburger all the time.
Wait! I just realized why some scores are so generous...it's Dads being generous. A real Dad isn't in the habit of complaining when he is served food. He's generally grateful and too polite to criticise bluntly. I get it. You are just beautiful people.

Super biased lol Mexican dads LOVE tacos of all type. Even non Mexican dads will never refuse a taco and a cold beer. Tacos have a multiplier effect, no matter the quality, your second taco is ALWAYS twice as taste as the first one, it’s exponential too so once you make it to 10 tacos that 10th one is like 1,000,000 times tastier than the first taco. Careful though, somewhere beteeen 12-20 your body might start rejecting the tacos
High key did Chipotle dirty. Should’ve just put steak, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, and maybe some hot sauce on the side. Would’ve made it more authentic since it’s a “build your own” restaurant.
