Many “off-grid” inverters have the ability to be “grid connected” where you can switch to grid power (or even recharge batteries) when your batteries get too low. Hybrid inverters are more than just “grid connected”, they’re “grid tied”. The big difference with hybrid inverters is they have the ability to push power back up to the grid (when configured properly and a net metering agreement is in place).
