Thanks a million Your battery trick to rewind the EPB motor saved me a bundle of troubles. You should make a short version of this video. Thanks for sharing
Doing this job for a friend, figured it would be safe to use a battery to back off the electric brake but thought I'd check first, thanks for the video.
Thanks! RAV4 also has the Service Mode which you can enable by following steps in this video: Toyota RAV4 (2019-2024): How To Enable Service Mode For The Rear Brake Replacement - th-cam.com/video/AJW9HjK6uP8/w-d-xo.html. This is the built-in way to release the parking brake motor.
Wow thank you so much. I have done my own work on my vehicles all my life breaks was easy. My first time with that electric brake. I tried c clamp like always.. but did not work. After watching video I had breaks done in min
A much easier way to put the brakes in maintenance mode: 1. Disingage parking brake 2. Turn key ON to ON position 3. (within 8 seconds) - foot on the brake, push parking brake button 3 times, pull 3 times, push and hold until parking brake winds back! 4. "PARK" light is flashing and you can service the brakes! 5. After servicing: foot on the brake, pull parking brake button and hold until parking brake winds tight! 6. Ready
This is great! I have a 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid, and these calipers looks exactly the same. I have 116k miles, they looks like i have another 50k on the original set. But now i know i don't need a specialty diagnostic tool to release the parking brake
Excellent and thorough video. Thank you. BUT what is the PLUG TYPE on the cable that connects to the caliper please? Of course I'm referencing the REAR BRAKES.
Кэн ю плиз, товарисч отснять видео как поменять пыльник (прокладку) тормозного цилиндра with electronic parking brake? Нужно ли для этого снимать электромотор?
I did the brakes on my Q5 yesterday. Prior to this I googled about the parking brake and several vids like this came up. All I did was ignition on, flick the parking off, ignition off and it wasn’t an issue (in park, couple of wheel chocks) I’m confused why so many suggest you need to do this. For the record I tried it on one and it didn’t make pushing the piston in any easier… using a proper brake piston kit it wasn’t hard tho.
Does this trip codes on the computer? Could this confuse the computer in thinking something is wrong with the brakes? Normally you use a scan tool to reset the motor, but could using a battery confuse the computer since you change the position? I didn't see any lights turn on in the video near the end, but the only way to be sure is to ride it a while, test the parking brake a few times, then run a scanner to check for codes. If you've done this a lot of times without any problems, it's probably not going to cause any problems since the computer cable is disconnected. Still, I wonder if this could confuse the computer for other makes and models.
ok my friend, so I found your video after the fact that I opened the back of the actuator and manually turned the spindle... now i am getting no movement and "parking brake malfunction and parking brake unavailable" i am going to try this.
To service brakes on a 2020 Rav4 Sit in car with door open. turn ignition on and release parking brake and turn ignition off. Turn ignition on, foot on brake, apply handbrake 3 times quickly, release handbrake 3 times quickly then release and hold down and take foot off brake and wait, you should hear the electric brake fully release and the light on switch and "park"in instrument cluster should flash. You can now service your brakes. To return to normal, ignition on, foot on brake, apply and hold park switch until you hear the electric brake apply.
You are right, we have the video describing this procedure as well. Toyota RAV4 (2019-2023): Rear Brake Service Mode. EPB Actuator Release. No TechStream. th-cam.com/video/AJW9HjK6uP8/w-d-xo.html.
And whatever you do DONT TAKE IT TOO FAR OUT. If it comes off the acme screw thread that it rides on it’s a real PITA to get it engaged again. I did just that on my 18 Camray and it was a real adventure no one wants to repeat.
instead of doing tricks with batteries, all you need is to activate parking brake maintenance mode.. pushing piston with hands may damage the calibration. Or I am missing something?
Why Toyota? For my Honda, first I jack the rear with brake on. Then turn brake off when rear end is on jack stands. Once you remove the rear tire and caliper bolts, you can unbolt (x2) the e brake motor and pop it off, so the caliper piston will move freely. I noticed I needed to cycle between pushing the piston with a clamp, and also rotating the piston.
just watch out when removing the push connection clip to the motor, they can break easily. they can accumulate a lot of dirt inside making it difficult to remove, I cleaned it but the damn thing was stuck on good. broke the clip on one side holding it even though I was careful. The solution is just to use a tiny tie strap to thread it through both sides of the connection and tighten.
@MorozovAutomotive Good Afternoon brother and nice to meet you, the methods you use for testing in this video is it a form of bi- directional control? If your able to add links to buy the stuff you use in the video to do any auto testing i will greatly appreciate it.

@@ardenweiss2378 No, if you enable the service mode, you don't need to do this.

To service brakes on a 2020 Rav4

Couldn't you disconnect car battery and use jump leads and some wires to make it go faster than 9v. Great idea will definitely use it 😁
Of course!
It's no longer so easy to disconnect a beteria from a car that could cost you a lot of money in repairs
Yes you could do that, but this is easier and inexpensive

Is this the same for a 2017 CH-R?

Battery holder and two pin connector you may find on Amazon, wires- Home Depot.

брат did you open the master cylinder reservoir before you pushed in the caliper piston?
Нет, крышку не открывали. Но, нужно следить за уровнем жидкости в бачке.
Any Same Idea for Toyota Matrix ?
Cant you just connect a positive and negative to a jumper nox or even car battery and just use that to retract the piston?
