I'm at a loss. I was considering the ZV-E1 as my use case would be about 85-90% video (vlogging). However, the A7CR looks like it would be a great camera, but lacking in some features that the ZV-E1 has like low light performance, and no crop for 4k. That said, it doesn't seem like the A7CR crops would impact me that much if I am using wide lenses for vlogging and investing in all full frame glass - also only shooting in 4k60 for slow motion. If you were deciding between the ZV-E1 and the A7CR for clogging and content creation, which would you choose and recommend?

@@colton9841 I was thinking about the ZV-E1 but I realized for me for a first real camera moving up from the cell phone the a6700 makes the most sense. You have to take into consideration, that the camera could get damaged or stolen and if it’s really in budget to buy the A7CR get the a6700 and just plan to buy a Second camera. if or when it’s need it later.

What are the overall image quality differences between the A7CR in Super 35/APS-C mode vs the A6700? I'm especially curious about this when shooting at high ISO around 12,000. Would the A7CR's cropped image be as good (noise, sharpness) as the straight shot from the A6700 at high ISO?

Incredible comparison video, I just have one question. At 12:57 you mentioned that the focal length and aperture is multiplied by 1.5x for the APS-C camera. Wouldn't f/2.0 x 1.5 (crop factor) equal to f/3.0 and not f/3.5? (or f/2.8 or f/3.2 since those are the aperture values that can be selected in the camera). Thanks in advance!

I think things have progressed to a point where you’re going to get excellent image, quality and great auto focus. The real difference comes down to angle of view in the case of foam frame, and usability cases that are more of interest to a professional versus an amateur or Vlogger. My two cents is APSC first, and you’ll know when the time is right to move to full frame.

  • @scottiebumich

Seems it's less a question about the cameras but the lenses you want to buy/carry around with. I have been shooting Sony Crops for the last 8 years as I mostly did landscapes (I have been traveling the world for 4 of those years). Now I have a baby and I am more interested in portraits so I considered FF. But honestly, Sigma's F1.4s are darn good and their F2.8 zoom is amazing. Although I would like the low light and better bookah of a FF I'm not sure it's really worth the much larger lenses (and weight).

  • @bondgabebond4907
    @bondgabebond4907 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

How about a discussion about the Tamron zoom lens. You seem to really like them. I see that Tamron is finally upping the quality of their lens's vs the past crop of cheap lenses. I just bought the 18-300 Tamron zoom for my aps-c cameras. Outside of the less than smooth zooming function, this animal is wild and extremely useful, not only for long distance pictures but close crop while maintaining a crisp image. I was blown away by this lens when shooting bees (very uncooperative, move too much) on my shrub with thousands of pink blossoms.
Now for the shocker, the a6700 sells for $1,400 while the excellent A7CR sells for ONLY $3,000. Buy two, they're cheap.

Kinda funny, but the video quality during the audio test makes the A7Cr the winner for me 😆
Or is that not a fair representation of the camera capability/quality?

I really wish Sony would cover up their sensors like Canon does. I was sick of cleaning up dust spots in post on a73. I moved on to Canon, I couldn't be happier.

I think Arcticfox may be referring to the anti-dust shutter mechanism that some cameras have where you can choose in the settings to keep the shutter curtain closed when removing lenses.

"As we all know, low light will always be a lot better on FF than on APS-C" Isn't this only true if you compare a FF and an APS-C camera with the same number of pixels? In this case, the FF sensor would have bigger pixels and therefore better low light performance. But here the pixel size of the A7Cr and the A6700 is (almost) identical, so they should perform the same in low light (using lenses with the same f-number).

A7rv and a7cr has 1,2x crop with 4k60, so you can use easily apsc lenses with it. And you can get little bit wider view angle than apsc crop.

I'm looking to upgrade from my a6300, even after watching this review I'm left a little lost. I want a hybrid photo and video camera with a 60/40 split in those respective categories. But it seems like Sony is too money hungry to make that a reality. You need an FX camera for video and an A camera for photos.
The new A7CR leaves a lot to be desired. The R uses pixel binning with no low pass filter, which makes moiré a problem. Slow sensor read out. Yet has RAW video?
The A7Cii on the other hand has a sizeable crop which makes you consider the whether that extra price is worth it over the a6700.
Both A7C cameras are also limited to 60p.
And of course the a6700 doesn't seem like that much of an upgrade from the a6300 especially if you're looking to get into the full frame world.

So print a very large image from 26 megapixel and 61 megapixels, if you cannot see the difference, I think you need glasses.

Wouldn't the A7CII vs 6700 be a more apt comparison? "Why" even compare it to the R? Just because you can? There is barely any actual reason to do that. Such a well made, well paced video, but ultimately pointless. And no you probably don't have the resources or the point to make the more reasonable comparison now that this one is out...
EDIT: found the latest much shorter video on that comparsion.
