    Are your colors off?
    If you're using a VND like in the Tilta Mirage matte box that is the case. But there are alternatives, like the new Freewell Eiger, that claims to have a 'true color' VND. But... is that even possible?

    Try the Nisi Matte Box with their way smarter VND tray solution if you havent.

    I hate using VNDs. The polarization is visible, colors shift, you might get an X, even with hardstops on a wide... Id rather stick with solid NDs

      I get your point, but for some run and gun style projects fixed NDs are just too impractical in my opinion

    How did the moisture get in there? Was it just condensation from AC to being outside? Was it just ambient humidity?

    • @MortyFilms
      @MortyFilms  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MojoPapiFPV It must have been ambient humidity when I put the two filters together

    Hi Morty. I love the content you produce (and the fact that it is based on a Komodo!). If I can share little bit of constructive feedback - the filmic grain effect that you use is super strong and borderline distracting. Toning it down a little bit would make it much easier on the eyes. Otherwise, amazing production quality!

    which would you prefer then overall? is it actually an advantage to use the Eiger VND when it's at risk of inconsistent output due to moisture?

    • @MortyFilms
      @MortyFilms  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Well, it’s only really an issue when you put the filters together as that’s when the moisture can get inside. If you’re aware of it it should be fine and I do like the option to use a gradient filter as well. However I still find myself using the Mirage a lot as it’s just more convenient to have that bigger range of the VND and it’s overall just a bit more compact as long as you don’t add another filter tray.

      @@sundersquare sure, I still think the Mirage is a very nice allrounder as there are so many accessories and it’s super modular, you can even attach standard 4x5.65 filters in the front and a motor to control the VND wirelessly

    Why do people obsess over goofy stuff like “color shift” you mean to tell me my look won’t be boring and drab if I get a VND? sign me up then 😂
    If you depend on LUTs then color shift doesn’t matter. And if you know your way around davinci and manually grade then you manually tune your colors anyway. That’s one of the first steps, so what does it matter?

    • @MortyFilms
      @MortyFilms  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, it just saves a ton of work if you don’t need to put hours into color correcting everything before starting with your creative grade. If you buy a camera that costs thousands of dollars just for it to have accurate colors and nice skintones, you don’t want a cheap filter to be the bottleneck

    since you have both, can you check if the Freewell filter fits into the Tilta Mirage?
    Wondering if those of us with a Tilta can just switch filters...
    Also, is there any way to rail mount the Freewell the way that the Tilta can with an additional mount? I can't seem to find anything mentioning it online. Even just some threaded (or locating) holes on the bottom so we can come up with our own solution would be nice but the pics on Amazon do not show the bottom. It is really the rail mount option that I do not want to lose. If the Freewell can be rail mounted then I'll switch over.
    And yeah, I subscribed a while ago, lol

    • @MortyFilms
      @MortyFilms  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your support! I’ve just checked, the Freewell filter doesn’t fit into the Mirage. It does however have mounting points in the bottom, but it looks like it’s proprietary. This is the rail mount for it: amzn.to/47mpRsA

      @@MortyFilms that’s perfect. The only thing that might have kept me using the Tilta is the ability to rail mount. Thanks for finding it, don’t know why I couldn’t seem to find the right search terms.
