Its still the case that the majority of businesses are still using some or all of the Office Programs. The most common probably being excel and outlook. Oracle sucks for small to mid sized businesses. Don't even consider NetSuite unless your sales are $10M with at least a 50% margin. NetSuite is clunky, slow or buggy servers and damn near impossible to customize without massive investments. NetSuite is also $100-$200 per user per month and can go up if they feel like it. I applaud the effort to simplify this into top 10, but really it's impossible. There's too many variables. We focus on smaller business, where we would declare ourselves #1, but not for mid-sized business. Then there's value, trade offs, it's enough to make you dizzy (salesforce is not big on ERP, but ok).
You’re right that there are a ton of variables to consider! I’ve compiled a few other top 10 lists since then, one specific to small business, another for manufacturers, etc.
Eric, thank you. Which ERP system would you really recommend for an educational organization with branches in different countries? I would clarify here, that still it is a startup.

Hi Eric, Nice work with the video. Its really hard to find independent opinions in ERPs as the vendors are always involved. Only thing I would add in cosideration about Netsuit is that Oracle's big bet for the future seems to be Oracle Cloud so this look bad for Netsuit in the middle/long term. What's your opinion on this? Also, if I'm an analyst of an old Oracle suit (JD Edwards), where do you think I should aim my career? I'm thinking on learning and getting expirience in one of the new ERPs with more future but I don't want to bet in the wrong horse. Do you have any video of what's best from an analst perspective?
Hi Manuel, I see your point about Oracle and Netsuite. However, I really don’t think Netsuite customers are at risk, simply because the install base is so big and because they target such different companies then oracle cloud. I don’t have any videos specific to analysts as you suggest, but the top 10 videos are a good place to start. I think it’s always a good idea to broaden your knowledge of different systems, especially given the uncertainty of JDE’s future.
Hi Eric, I am working on oracle ebs r12 as a techno functional role in finance module but I want to move current ERP application which has good future in long run. Which application should I choose to learn in 2020. Any suggestions
SAP S/4 HANA would have been placed higher on top as there seems to be lot of complexities in Microsoft and Oracle even they also finding it difficult to land in a better when it comes to maturity and Product development
Hey Eric, where would you stick SAS? Haven't had bunch of experience with those, but know they've been around for so long and especially care about analytics and data insights long time before it became a hype. Are they used anywhere outside risk management and customer marketing for banks and insurance companies?
I don’t understand one thing: you have mentioned D365 as No.2 ERP in your list. Then why does Microsoft use SAP S/4 HANA for all of its core ERP related processes? Why don’t they use D365 for it.
Service Now isn't an ERP system and really doesn't belong on this list. Workday is a bit a of stretch as well because it's not a complete package. It could be a piece of a best of breed solution. I can concede Salesforce because depending on your industry, it could be the primary component of your ERP solution, but most people have Salesforce integrated to another big 5 ERP system for the supply chain and operations pieces. I think the others belong in the top ten because they are the packages that everyone should look at if you are switching systems. Depending on your industry there maybe a couple others added to this list and a few that should drop out.
Can you publish the scoring details for the solutions? Your commentary seems to be inconsistent with the placement decisions that I am sure would be easier to understand if the scoring were available. Also, I noticed this was a PURE SaaS comparison only but that was not made clear. Thanks in advance.
@@erickimberling Not sure I understand, is that a "no?" you won't provide the underlying scoring? How can anyone assess the claims? There are several inconsistencies in your commentary about why various vendors got different rankings. Without the data it is impossible to reconcile the claims. My assumption is you would provide the underlying support and the inconsistent commentary is just opinion.
That is correct, we do not share the detailed data for free on public forums. Our clients pay us to do this analysis, so we don’t share detailed data outside our paying client base. You are more than welcome to debate any part of the video you wish - many vendors and system integrators do!
Yes, it was. It didn’t make the top 10 for all industries, but it likely would be toward the top for certain industries such as government contracting.
Hi, seeking career advice, can i switch to oracle erp from workday? I have 5yrs exp in workday but those are support and testing. Not able to study integration or func config. Please advice.
So im trying to wrap my head around this. Your saying due to the shift in management, the market share always shrinks or becomes less unstable, the service then also takes a hit, ranks lower on maturity? Why does it matter really if people step down from a software agency?
It’s a minor factor, but could signal a sign of instability or uncertainty at the software company. It’s one minor consideration in the grand scheme of things.

Yeah that would be a big help for the left out small business owner! I’ve been looking and researching these for a while now and so far these are the best ones I’ve seen that are affordable. I’d throw in one more to check out called epromise thx I’ll look forward to the video!
@@jayv2447 You may start to investigate with ERPNext. ERPNext is in the ERP FrontRunners List by Gartner for 4 consecutive years. www.softwareadvice.com/erp/#top-products
Hi Eric,
Nice work with the video.
Eric Kimberling, Independent ERP Consultant thanks a lot!
1C Enterprise - russian ERP system
Workday started by PeopleSoft employees who are recreating PeopleSoft in a different imagine.
Do you think that's a good thing or a bad thing?
Hi Eric, I am working on oracle ebs r12 as a techno functional role in finance module but I want to move current ERP application which has good future in long run. Which application should I choose to learn in 2020. Any suggestions
SAP S/4 HANA would have been placed higher on top as there seems to be lot of complexities in Microsoft and Oracle even they also finding it difficult to land in a better when it comes to maturity and Product development
Just starting to explore ERP systems. Sage Intacct not in the top 10.... where does it come out in all this?
Hey Eric, where would you stick SAS? Haven't had bunch of experience with those, but know they've been around for so long and especially care about analytics and data insights long time before it became a hype. Are they used anywhere outside risk management and customer marketing for banks and insurance companies?
fair enough review, thanks for sharing
I don’t understand one thing: you have mentioned D365 as No.2 ERP in your list. Then why does Microsoft use SAP S/4 HANA for all of its core ERP related processes? Why don’t they use D365 for it.
A quick question, where would you place SharePoint Online?
Thank you Eric for this great vidéo
@Francis, you’re welcome - thank you for watching!
#ERPNext.... the best one..!!!
What do you think about odoo?
hi Eric, what do you think about SYSPRO?
It’s a good system...we see it a lot with our midsize and smaller manufacturing companies.
Thankyou Eric, do u think it can enter the rank if it is a top15 or top 20 ranking? Or it specialize in manufacturing which should not included?
What about microsoft business central 356 and sap business by design all fit in same category as netsuit by oracle
How about Epicor? I heard it can be compared to SAP A1
Service Now isn't an ERP system and really doesn't belong on this list.
Thank you for the feedback, Jim. There is definitely a blurring line between ERP and other types of enterprise software!
What ERP system would be best for Manufacturing company that is trying to integrate over to JobBoss?
Top ERP system is 1C:ERP
:-)
Can you publish the scoring details for the solutions? Your commentary seems to be inconsistent with the placement decisions that I am sure would be easier to understand if the scoring were available. Also, I noticed this was a PURE SaaS comparison only but that was not made clear. Thanks in advance.
We use that data in our consulting services, but may publish a summary of some of it at some point. Thank you for the feedback!
@@erickimberling
Not sure I understand, is that a "no?" you won't provide the underlying scoring?
How can anyone assess the claims? There are several inconsistencies in your commentary about why various vendors got different rankings. Without the data it is impossible to reconcile the claims. My assumption is you would provide the underlying support and the inconsistent commentary is just opinion.
That is correct, we do not share the detailed data for free on public forums. Our clients pay us to do this analysis, so we don’t share detailed data outside our paying client base. You are more than welcome to debate any part of the video you wish - many vendors and system integrators do!
@@erickimberling I love this reply
@@erickimberling That was a very British no, even though you are American ;)
Could you also check and analyze Priority ERP Software
I'm wondering if Deltek Costpoint was considered for this list?
Yes, it was. It didn’t make the top 10 for all industries, but it likely would be toward the top for certain industries such as government contracting.
Have you heard anything about Process Pro for cosmetic contract manufacturers?
What do you think about T.FAT ERP? I wonder if it was considered in this list?
Hi Geeta, I am not familiar with that one and haven’t seen any of our clients use it, but am curious to learn more about it...
Microsoft Dynamics 365 is beating Oracle since two years so I would put Oracle Net-suite at Rank #2 and Dynamics 365 #1.
What's the best ERP for real estate company or Alan developer ?
It is somewhat misleading to say Charles Phillips resigned as Infor CEO. He became Chairman of the Board.
But still being replaced as CEO, correct?
@@erickimberling Yes I believe so.
What do you think about Odoo?
What about Epicor iScala...where does it stand..there is not much information about it
Hi, seeking career advice, can i switch to oracle erp from workday? I have 5yrs exp in workday but those are support and testing. Not able to study integration or func config. Please advice.
Yes, you can do that. It may give you a broader experience since Oracle extends beyond HCM.
@@erickimberling also Oracle is in top 3 - OTM
Hi eric thanks for video. What do u think about vienna advantage erp? Tq
