    I'd be interested in more Railfanning stuff, hell I got into NASCAR and trains around the same time! If you really think about it, train sets are just scaled down versions of a NASCAR track, just for model trains!

      @justinyoung109 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oddly enough there was also a period during the 90's where you could by NASCAR themed train sets. There were Earnhardt ones as well as generic, and car manufacturer specific ones. They go for $70-120 in Ebay nowadays

    I am a big fan of trains myself. l lived in SoCal for 13 years and saw Metrolink, COASTER, Amtrak Surfliner, Starlight, and Southwest Chief. This country really needs a renaissance of rail and I am happy to see it coming back in some areas.

    Some of my favorite freight trains that I see go by are Auto Racks, Intermodal trains, Mixed freight, and grain trains.
    My favorite Passenger train has always been Amtrak.

    If you ever come to Pennsylvania like during Pocono, I would suggest visit Altoona, PA for the railroaders musuem, railfan around the Norfolk Southern's Rose yard, and also checkout the fascinating Horseshoe Curve. Another fascinating railroad in eastern PA near Pocono is the Reading Blue Mountain Northern Railroad. They offer train excursions pulled by vintage stream line diesel and the good ol Reading 2102 steam engine.

      Yep I've been to Altoona many times. It is worth a look if you ever find yourself in west-central PA.

    Something I recommend you to get is a handheld scanner. They come in handy for listening out for trains and can be used for NASCAR races as well. I use a Uniden BC125AT but the BC75XLT is also a great option. Danny Harmon from Distant Signal has some great videos on scanners for railfanning that I recommend you watch.

    I loved trains as a kid. I used to beg my dad to take me to go see them. I had an uncle that worked for Amtrak for many years. Then during one year, I had a series of nightmares featuring them and my passion for them declined. Hearing some of these sounds again is kind of cool.

    The Northeast got plenty of action, the Norrrest Corridor home to Amtrak's Northeast Corridor, Acela and NJ Transit have been the action scene for watching trains or riding it. Heck up and down the Northeast there is always action from MTA, MBTA, Septa, MARC, VRE along this busy stretch of the region.

    If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend coming up to Reading/Jim Thorpe for the Iron Horse Rambles excursions with 2102. I went 3 times last year and last weekend on July 1st, and it is definitely one of the greatest things I have ever experienced. 2102 definitely is one of the loudest steam locomotives in America and it's arguably more beautiful of a sound than any stock car will ever be to me, especially with those 2 whistles. I recommend stopping in Port Clinton and Tamaqua for anyone who wants to chase the excursion, because Port Clinton has some amazing stack talk, and Tamaqua is just sooooo loud and beautiful to see

  • @Railroadracer49
    @Railroadracer49 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Absolutely would love more train content
    Not only am I a big NASCAR fan
    But I am also a huge fan of trains
    Hints the username railroad Racer 49
    I love the sound of those big iron beasts rolling towards me at fast speeds and hearing that horn blast loud and long
    And I love the iconic clickity clack sounds of the freight cars on the tracks
    I also love passenger trains to in my opinion traveling by train is The best way to experience the country
    I live in Washington so the trains I get in my area are the Orange black & yellow BNSF locomotives and for passenger service we have Amtrak Cascades but occasionally I will see engines from other railroads mainly from Canada because the line I live nearby goes north to British Columbia so sometimes I’ll also see Canadian National and Canadian Pacific locomotives but sometimes I see your local power from NS & CSX it’s always super exciting for me whenever I see foreign power
    Another reason I love trains is because of the history and how the railroad’s built the country and even still nowadays the best way to ship large amounts of cargo across the US is by rail so the railroad’s ain’t going away anytime soon
    I also have tons of dvd’s & Blu ray’s of train videos/documentaries
    I also have a ton of wooden trains
    There’s a family that lives in Missouri that makes handmade wooden replicas of real trains they’re called
    Whittle Shortline railroad
    There’s other companies to like
    Choo choo track Toy&Co
    Bigjigs
    & Even Amtrak has their own wooden trains
    But like you I also play with model trains but they are HO scale a lot bigger compared to n scale I’m a member at a train club in Alger Wa
    My HO scale collection is pretty small but I’m hoping to grow it overtime
    Overall trains have been there my entire life I even watched Thomas the tank engine when I was younger and I still rewatch the old seasons to this day
    And they alway helped me in life I always get really excited when a hear a train coming
    I’m now filming trains and uploading to TH-cam in a series called
    Mason’s train videos
    I will continue to love trains and railroading as a whole for years to come
    I’m a railfan and I’m proud of it

    I was hoping you would do some more railroad-themed videos. #DannyBRailfanning
    Edit: It's kind of odd seeing an ex-BNSF Dash 8 leading a passenger train. What are your favorite locomotives?

    • @DannyBTalks
      @DannyBTalks  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Honestly, that weird Dash 8 is one of my favorites. Mainly because of its uniqueness. But they don’t often use it on those trips. Only when one of the other power units are in maintenance. And at that time, the old L&N high hood was in maintenance.

    Really cool stuff! I'm in a similar mindset where I love a lot of stuff from racing to trains to basically anything that goes fast. In fact, I'm making a video documenting a rail line near where I live (Philadelphia area) and the efforts to get the line back to where it used to go back in the day, and the overall crazy story that it is. It should be ready to go some time this week or next, but really cool to see some railfanning stuff from you!

    Holy crap that’s awesome! I’ve also been a NASCAR and railfan as long as can remember. I live Clarksville TN now where the RJ Corman Memphis line branch runs one train daily, connecting with the very busy CSX Henderson Sub in nearby Guthrie KY. Just last week, my wife and I did a cab ride on Southern 4501 at TVRM in Chattanooga for my birthday and I 100% recommend it, especially if it’s a bucket list item like it was for me. Most of the time for Christmas or birthdays I have to choose between something NASCAR/Sim racing related or model train/real train related, which is definitely a hard choice sometimes! Also, if you haven’t visited Clarksville yet, it also has the fairgrounds speedway complex which hosts racing all weekend from about March to late October with the 1/8th mile drag strip on Friday, dirt oval on Saturday, and autocross/drifting on Sunday.

    13:30 I love how it's so obviously an old CSX locomotive and they just replaced the logos 😂
    One of my favorite shortlines (Yadkin Valley Railroad) kinda does this except they don't even replace the logos, they just take the CSX ones off

  • @justinyoung109

    More train stuff! Longtime car guy and former Thomas viewer who just got back into model trains for the first time in nearly 20 years. Nothing like studying these things as they fly by. I used to live 1/3 of a mile from the CSX Camden line and now I live next to the NEC and regularly listen to Amtrak and MARC commuter trains come through here in Bowie, MD. Interestingly CSX run their rock runners in the forests surrounding my house. I wish CSX would come back to NASCAR. They had some great looking schemes and it would be a great marketing angle to promote safety and bring together NASCAR fans and the railfan community. EDIT DannyB to Strasburg please!

    I wouldn't consider myself as a rail fan but I do think trains are pretty cool! I would love to ride that passenger train in Lebanon. I didn't know there was one. I love big heavy powerful machinery. My interest is in aviation! My favorite jet right now is the Boeing 777-300ER bc it's going to my first international flight out of the US. I recently got to observe in the ATC Tower in Memphis! But you get to see a wide variety of trains and cargo, and if I wanted to start filming in the aviation industry, I'd have to go elsewhere as the aircraft variety here isn't anything special.

    I've lived outside of Chicago my whole life, and there are quite a few rail lines that run through this area
    Right now, I live near both the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe and Indiana Harbor Belt lines, and they're pretty busy, I'm always stuck waiting for a train for several minutes, so I'm kind of on the outs with freight trains but there is something cool about seeing them in a rural setting
    As someone who has ridden the Metra commuter trains, plenty of times, I knew the passenger train at 12:04 looked familiar
