Your spot on there B.U.COVER, also that Combustion N.G. they have a built in Darkglass pre amp thingy, unlike the standard Dingwall Combustions, though if you order the standard Combustion Combustion there's an option to have the Darkglass fitted for around £150, depends on taste at the end of the day 🤘😈🤘
I've tried the Ampeg, Sansamp ands MXR and this is my "go to" gig pedal. The Octaver has no latency and follows great. The EQ is very good the Fuzz adds and the compressor is nice to kick in when I need it. I have a separate Chorus but that is it.
Hey dude, this is my second response to you today. As an old dude who has all of the effects that this Sonic cake replaces, I will not be giving up the originals. But again, thank you for demoing these tools that younger players, or newer players that don't have the money to invest what I've taken 30 years to invest, and giving them these options. You are doing God's work here man.
Awesome demo, Patrick. \m/ I saw this multi effects pedal from guns and guitars and it sounded pretty killer. I wish it had a chorus effect, but other than that, I would purchase it along with a chorus and flanger from either joyo or mooer.
I do too...the fuzz sounds killer with the preamp. And the preamp has a certain drive to it when you turn up the gain. Over all, it’s a great multi-effects unit for the price.
I would really like to know if this unit contains some type of speaker/cabinet sim when connected through DI output...? Plugged directly to PA or a active full range speaker, will overdriven sounds sound digitally (buzzy/harsh/fizzy)..?
Thats a really awesome pedal for the price! Ive found that to get good fuzz on bass you should use plugins, like Neural DSP Darkglass Ultra, I got some really cool fuzz sounds out of that. There a video on my channel where you can here it.
Good review! Actually sold my OC3 as I find the tracking is surprisingly better on this unit, so got even more extra space in my pedalboard :P Agree on the fuzz is not that great, so I use an ODB3 when I wanna add extra dirt
Hey I think that any bass pedal should include a built in chorus, and reverb. I would like to see a bass pedal with Boost/Compressor>Reverb>Chorus>Preamp>Octaver. But as it has an effects loop its ok. I found on mine that the octaver does a weird modulation effect (like this guy shows in his demo). When onlt Oct1 is selected it jumps between the lower octave to one octave higher and back. 5his is not what an octaver should do. Other than that this is a great pedal. I add a chorus and reverb in the effects loop. Bass>Comp>Preamp>Chorus>Reverb>Amp/Pa.
Octave and no fuzz. You lost all credibility w/ me there. Was mostly behind you except I’ll never give a shit about any compressor. The only way I’d use it one one of those is if it helped the tracking for the octave w/o any of the awful obnoxious compressor bs they all seem to just make everything sound worse and add hiss even if coveted and expensive. I’m not adding a noise gate just to use a compressor that’s bs.
I have one and what I'd look for is fret life, how high they are and whether they are even or not because from my experience at least everything else on the thing seems indestructible.
I picked one up based on watching this video. I really wanted to like it. It added too much noise so I'm returning it. I might have just gotten a bad one.
This is about $70 shipped. Should I go with it or get a Caline CP-60 DI Box for $33 shipped and get another cheap pedal to go along with it? Im looking mainly to use for recording in fl studio
Very strange. An other review recommends not combine the fuzz and preamp. The EQ has to much volume rise. Same problem as the valuation dapper dass strip. Stay with the original from Tech 21. bass fly rig.
Again, I just love your riffy style of playing. Makes your videos a lot more compelling to me.
I have bought one of that, and have used for some gigs, that little monster is awesome. I use it with my precision bass and sounds awesome.
Sounds like the “preamp” section includes some kind of speaker sim based on its interaction with the fuzz circuit.
It's hard to make a Dingwall sound bad, it's just too good

So true. I need one but I also need money. It's a tough decision.
Hold my beer
And yet sonicake managed it.
@@TheOldmandaddio Oh, that definitely explains the powerful and tight low end along with the crispy highs...

For the money, that sounds fantastic!! Although I have no doubt that Patrick could make any pedal /device sound amazing!! 😃
How do you compare this to the Tech 21 flyrig?
I pulled the trigger on ordering this in part thanks to your review. Good lookin out my man!

Glad you reviewed this man! I agree on the fuzz, even the octave I dont really use, but the pre amp adds so much when you need that extra kick. 🤟
thanks Patrick! I just ordered it!
I just bought this pedal ! Can't wait to try it out !
It’s been a couple years… what do you think of it?
Oeh yesss I’ve been waiting for this one :D:D
Nice demo. I use one of those and love it!
I'd sell my soul to have your bass chops x.x but i already sold it for ozzfest tickets back in the day >

I have several overdrive pedals and preamps and IME the ODB3 is one of the most underrated pedals out there.
What is up homie 🤙🏻 what are you go to settings on your Darkglass 500 when not using any pedals.... just curious. Have a wonderful day
I see a fanned fret 5 string in the back 👀

Hey Patrick will you do any other show me what you bass videos?
if only it had a tuner!
Tuner, ditch the fuzz and add reverb.
Bass reverb?
@@rejectedcovers8790 yeah. It can be fun to play with.

Benjewlici0us97 thanks. Definitely wanna get my hands on one some day

Thought I may have heard a Grand Funk sound in there.
Just picked it up for$58 on ebay!
If it swapped out the octaver for a chorus it would be perfect
Nice

Hey patrick can you do a video on plumes? To my ears it sounds like the best bass od around atm.
Got it today, absolutely hate it on bass. Never had a worse earbleeding.

Patrick ,it looks like you found a use for that horrible "power" cord from the wish bass or is it the equally horrible cord from the Glarry bass?
I was looking at getting it for the octave pedal, but it sounds terrible
Octave track OK when fuzz is engaged?
Would you recommend running this to a pa without an amp?
Can you try octave and fuzz togheter?
and play BB Sabotage with them

so this or the Zoom B1Four?
Does this pedal has any Ground Lift button for its DI?
Well I bought it and it doesn't have it. Just in case anyone is wondering the same
What would happen if I plugged a guitar into it🤔

Where is the effects loop located?
Okay. The cheap Chinese electronic can’t destroy the sound of a 3k bass. But what Happens with my 150€ bass sound :-(
The seller said that it has some loop station. Is it correct?
No, it doesn't have a looper
69.99 now on ebay

Yes.
No it doesn't. The XLR out just sends out a balanced signal, the unit itself doesn't have any cab simulation of any kind
