Ive had one for about a year. I never felt the need to try any other pedal after that. You can match it with the sonicake autowah and get some cool sounds.
Good evening sir. Nice review. I have almost the same multi-effect-pedal only with a tuner and a great chorus as an addition. At this price range all together is quite unbeatable. I just had to figure out how to use those effects properly by tracking, loudness and signal. But it works out 😊 Greetings from Germany
@@JonnyDibble it's called the "valeton dapper bass". I would consider it even more useful than the sonicake. Also because of the integrated tuner. Many of the separate circuits may be the same but the additions make the valeton "giggable" (hope you get that word 😅)
I watched this video yesterday and thought "I like it but I'd prefer something with a built-in tuner and chorus". I checked on Thomann and saw the Valeton Dapper Bass and it seems like it matches what I was thinking. Jonny, if I get one I'll let you borrow it - assuming I don't get stuck in traffic again!
Hey I think that any bass pedal should include a built in chorus, and reverb. I would like to see a bass pedal with Boost/Compressor>Reverb>Chorus>Preamp>Octaver. But as it has an effects loop its ok. I found on mine that the octaver does a weird modulation effect. When onlt Oct1 is selected it jumps between the lower octave to one octave higher and back. 5his is not what an octaver should do. Other than that this is a great pedal. I add a chorus and reverb in the effects loop. Bass>Comp>Preamp>Chorus>Reverb>Amp/Pa.
thanks for this vid Jonny, My take on Sonicake: I 've buy the sonicake SonicWood 'cos I was looking for a cheap bass chorus and reverb effect (sonicwood is designed for acoustic guitars but, anyway, it well does the job on a bass) I think that these effect are designed for a live use, just for a little bit of soud modulation. there's not "the big sound" but they really does the job and I really wonder if during a live session, anyone in the crowd will be able to get the difference between a Boss CEB-3 and this sonicake chorus effect... (In fact: nobody does ! ) I plan to get the Boom ave as second pedal, they are really affordable, heavy duty case, compact, easy to use... they are just perfect for a good old gig ! The Knob backlight gives me the same issue... where the hell is the knob setting???? I fixed the problem by putting a little drop of black nail polish on the button mark 😉(You know, as a girl, nail polish can fix almost all of our problems 🤣🤣) Thanks once again for this demo ! Axelle.
A similar multi FX is the Valeton Dapper, which I'd be interested in seeing. I'm considering one or t'other, because I quite like the idea of ditching the pedalboard for something small and easy to carry and use. Neither have all the features I want, though between the two they do.
hey Johnny! I got one about a year back and mine did have that note tracking problem. But overtime it did start to lose that note tracking problem to the point its not dramatic in a track.
Would this work if it’s connected to another multi effect pedal, such as a zoom B4? If yes, how would the pedals be lined up? I’d appreciate it if anyone could answer my question. Thank you 😊
Rown pedals do a similar 3 in one multi-effects pedal option too. Also have you looked at the Behringer ADI21 and BDI21 Sansamp clones. Also the Vox Stomplab multi-effects pedals?
Since the preamp on the carvin r600 practice rig is old touchy squeaky died I’m gonna give this a try as a preamp an the two power amps in the head. Cuz I’m cheap an i gig with the Eden
Managed to pick one up today from the sonicake eBay store for £39 🤘 I'm a bit of a bass purist so it'll be interesting to experiment with other settings other than the impressive pre amp. Great review btw 👍🏻
@@tomsaint786 hi mate, they sent me an offer through their eBay store. They also sent an offer for the velaton 20w micro bad head....£65 for a £109 unit. Bought it right away. Both the boom ave and velaton head are great! I'll never use the octave pedal tbh but the pre amp, fuzz and compressor are awesome.
@@davidgagnon2849 Jaguar I had was a full scale, like the player series ones theyve done in recent years. Mustangs are short scale and I know Squier have done versions of jags that are short scale but my fender one was a full scale 😊
Hey man! I've not personally used the EHX, but I've heard its good! I had the MXR preamp which was a good affordable one with a distortion channel, but still wasn't white a sansamp haha. This Sonicake sounded closer!
@@JonnyDibble Tx for the quick reply! I'll take a good look at this sonicake. Just found your channel and i'm really enjoing your videos. Keep it going, you have a new follower from Spain!
Sonicake are top notch, best budget pedals on the market in my experience. They have pretty much zero self noise. Very well made.
Anyone ever call you the Harry Potter of bass before? Just saying. ;) I mean this in the most positive way you can imagine, lol.
Yes, but only because my playing is... magical

Awesome! 😁😁
Thanks for doing this. I’d be curious to hear a similar demo but without the Logic bass amp sim.
No problemo! I've just acquired a similar pedal so I'll do a comparison with and without the amp sim 👍

Es recomendable trabajar siempre con el pre y el compresor ?
I think about getting one of these every time I'm on amazon
Quite the steal!
The octave seems to me to track better with some druve or hot pickups before it . Not much tho

Hey Mr Dibble sir. My unit seems rather noisey when turned up but needs to be to get unity volume to bypass. Does yours do the same?
This would be great for punk rock! If only it had a chorus too...
Can I get the GFRailroad Bass sound with this? It seems like it might.
