Big ol' thanks to my homie Will Agtang for providing keys on "Knee Deep"! Go follow him on instagram at instagram.com/swagtang/ and go follow me while you're there too! instagram.com/patrickhunter Thanks as always for watching, y'all!
Nailed the Entwistle sound and technique. I saw him with and w/o The Who about 10 times, two of them standing ~5 away from him and his thundering rig, and I'll never stop loving that sound and technique. Everything else was great too. Well done.
Some fantastic tones! Especially the John Entwistle one, although one thing I noticed on the Geezer one is that you anchored your fingers on the pickup instead of at the neck like Geezer himself does while smacking away with his fingers on the end of the fretboard which gives his tone that "mwah" sound.
Great catch. That was my first thought on the Geezer tone. He does get that unique almost vocal and sort of hollow tone at times by digging in hard right off end of fingerboard. I have used that as a secret weapon tone for years.

Man thanks for including Peter Hook on this vid. He is not a very famous bass player or known for a virtuosistic style but he's a very influential musician in alternative music and a goos example of using pedals for bass!
This video is awesome (love the Rush and the Geezer) and this comment is mostly off topic but one thing I'll never get tired of on bass videos is watching the strings move. I don't get to see it when I play and I'm sure frame rates create some of the effect but it's so cool looking.
You found a use for a T-40! Respect. Fender Noiseless Jazz pickups FTW. Those are the stand-out clips, btw. Really good playing. Everybody is saying so.
Yes...Part 2...of course...unless you’ve already done a Part 2. If that’s under the case, then let’s get hopping. Parts, 3, 4, 5 & six need to be done too. After all a double trilogy is a good thing when it comes to bass and a top shelf bassist like yourself Patrick.
Not "it's a boy", the patch is named "It's Ya Boy" ("It's your boy" in standard english) which, besides being a mdoern phrase coined by African Americans, comes directly from the Thundercat song 'Show you the way'. 51 seconds in: th-cam.com/video/Z-zdIGxOJ4M/w-d-xo.html
How long does a video like this take you? Jeez. I can only imagine the work that goes into recording all the backing tracks, finding the right sounds, laying down your bass lines, recording the video of yourself playing, and editing it all together. It's taken me four days of 4-8 hours just to record a single song I've been working on.
Hey Patrick, love your videos, just a quick question, I have your same audio interface but I can't quite get the clarity you have on your videos. How do you record yourself on bass? Just bass straight on the audio interface and recordo with your DAW? Do you use plugins of any kind? Let me know please. Thanks. I just want to record stuff for my own pleasure but everytime it sucks pretty bad.
Sweet Coheed shirt. You should do a medley of some of their better bass riffs. Todd/cooper have some awesome runs in their catalog. Keep up the great work man.
Hey Patrick... great selection of bass tones! I was wondering if after you saved the settings for each tone, did you archive those sets so that you could reload them in the future? I’d really like to see how you figured out which setting would go to which tone. Nice job!
Hi Patrick! I love the way you play and I want to know how do you set up your strings, is your action high? Because I see that you hit the strings very hard but the bass still sounds clean, and I'm having trouble with that. Greetings from Chile!
Big ol' thanks to my homie Will Agtang for providing keys on "Knee Deep"! Go follow him on instagram at instagram.com/swagtang/ and go follow me while you're there too! instagram.com/patrickhunter Thanks as always for watching, y'all!
Pls, Patrick, play YYZ...
My main man Hooky got a shout.
Absolute legend
Great playing! I want that Peavey for home practice, gigging, my collection, and home defense. Those things are beasts!
LMAO home defense. You really could kill somebody with one of those things
I may or may not have punched a drunk ass grabber in a gig with mine.
PS. He went DOWN!
@@DJProfessorL that one is an axe allright
My dad had one and he said he called it "The Coffee Table"
I have a Peavey Foundation S and peavey patriot! Great sounding basses!
Nailed the Entwistle sound and technique. I saw him with and w/o The Who about 10 times, two of them standing ~5 away from him and his thundering rig, and I'll never stop loving that sound and technique. Everything else was great too. Well done.
Them Bones is actually a clean flange bass but it is low in the mix so I do understand you not catching it, other than that they're all killer
Surprised he didn't do "Would" since that's a more bass-driven song. But maybe he already did in an earlier video.
After seeing your comment I looked up the isolated bass track AND I'VE NEVER NOTICED THAT! I guess the flange really sits well in the overall mix.
ZA WARUDOOO
Could’ve sworn Dio was a guitarist

John Entwistle did something similar actually - so I'm surprised he didn't do it for him either.
and geddy used the rickenbacker on tom sawyer
Vinny Silveira no, he used a jazz, he only used a rickenbacker in the music video. He’s confirmed this before
Great catch. That was my first thought on the Geezer tone. He does get that unique almost vocal and sort of hollow tone at times by digging in hard right off end of fingerboard. I have used that as a secret weapon tone for years.
@@vinnysilveira4685 nope, J bass on Tom Sawyer
Peavey makes surprisingly great basses!
Some of the best!
that T 40 is heavy af, but the variety of tones is amazing. If you got one, never let it go!
my first bass which I got a few months ago was a Peavey Milestone
@@RadityoPramAdi heavy in weight as well, but really comfortable almost 6kg/13lbs...
The t40 is legendary!
I appreciate the "Oh Canada" reference for Rush :)
Hahahaha I wanted to have fun with the presets I was making😂
I almost spit out my breakfast when I read that setting. LOL

SUCH a big Peter Hook fan. Was not disappointed at all seeing him first.:D
Dang. That Peavey T-40 sounds monstrous!
Man, you are a beast!
Love the Entwistle tone . Awesome man nice pallete of tones!
That thundercat tone was so dope

Awesome job Patrick!
I’d love to see you re-create Les Claypool’s tone!
Dude, I got serious respect for the bass collection!
Great vid! Still waiting for that Ric upgrading vid tho 😳👀
Tip for sounding more like Geezer Butler: Play over the last fret. He plays like that for reasons unknown to me but it's a big part in his tone.
pretty sure the reason is for the sound to be bassier and fuller
Nailed it with the Rush tone! Ty
Coheed and cambria shirt ❤ I love these videos. Awesome tones and playing as always. Always inspiring.
first time hearing a dingwall without a darkglass, this is really interesting
Can we have a metal version of this please? Like Alex Webster and Cliff Burton and guys like that.
John myung
Ryan Martinie, he plays clean but his play style is cool.
Braden Clem a lot of Death and Brutal Death guys do a bit of snarl like Derek Boyer, Mike Flores, Alex Webster
most metal bassists just have a very clanky, clear and clean tone. bunch of mids and cut the bass
Doom bassists like Al Cisneros seem to have the most interesting bass tones. Cliff has an awesome sound as well
I’m a huge Rush fan and I love the sound of Geddy’s bass. Your bass sounded exactly like his!
You found a use for a T-40! Respect. Fender Noiseless Jazz pickups FTW. Those are the stand-out clips, btw. Really good playing. Everybody is saying so.

Sweet vid, I love how the Peavey almost sound a bit like a Ric in some strange way.
Mikey Shoes tone was just on spot! My favourite. All the other tones were really good too!
Joy division!!!! Thats a great tone... as a life long JD man I'm impressed and subscribing... great video!!@
I was so happy to see Won’t Get Fooled Again....such a good song.
You smashed it dude. Amazing!
Nice job! Those tones are epic!
Inspirational, thank you. Subscribed. I’m watching your technique closely to learn.
Could you recreate either justin chancellor's tone or paul d'amour's from tool?
Chancellor is a pretty damn expensive tone to recreate sadly
He did 46&2 in the previous video
@@julian2883 depends on what album, lateralus and up yes, Ænima, no, he uses a stingray in Ænima
Great video and great playing, man!
Me: **Doesn’t see Chris Wolstenholme**

It was in part 1
Awesome video, Patrick. \m/ I personally like the them bones bass tone. It sounds killer. \m/
I dig the shirt! Awesome video!
Peavey T-40... I want mine back. It was stolen from me back in 95 while my band was on tour with Shank456
Awesome Coheed and Cambria shirt! One Amongst the Fence 🤘
Nailed everyone's sound! But the peter Hook and D'arcy Wretzky were especially amazing
Nice job man, congrats and go ahead with this kind of videos.... hugs and see u soon!!!!

Great playing...awesome selection
Oh Theres Geddy Lee 🤣 Love Rush
Just subbed. Thanks my brother of bass....
You have inspired me to pick it up again.
Well Done Patrick !! 😎👌🎸🎶🎵
Cool sounds! The blue bass for “it’s a boy” I see what you did there. Would love to see some Muse and Rush heh

johndough247 The phrase was actually invented by skinny penis though
I love the use of the the Ric copy on love will tear us apart. Probably not to far from the copy hook used.
I think he used a Yamaha BB2000 for that sonh
That John entwistle tone on the peavy is so good
Looking forward to that demo on the that Boss! Also, Tom Sawyer sounded great!
Incredible vid!!!
You rock bud!
It slides up to the octave on the verses of won’t get fooled again, but that tone was bang on so I’ll let you off!
Cool riffs and great playing! Would from AIC is my favorite bass riff, but Them Bones is cool too :)
Cool video!! Nice Coheed shirt \m/

There's this band called Wet Floor, from a game called Splatoon 2, and the bass in their songs is very unique. I wonder if you could recreate that?
Won’t get fooled again sounds amazing

the first riff was a pleasant surprise
Legend!🤘🏼🤘🏼
Sempre al top! 👏👏👏
That T 40 is a chonky beauty!
Nice going with Thundercat!
Great video, just wondering what bass you used for John Entwistle? I didn't recognize the brand
He used a Peavey bass, not sure what model name it was though
Peavey T-40 which I’m surprised he didn’t demo the whole video off that T-40 alone with the endless tone options that bass can mimic.
The Peavey T40... One of the greatest basses ever made that alot of people don't know about.
The Joy Division bass tone is to die for
Hey Patrick! If love you see some more dingwall demos if you can, and more Nolly stuff!
What a cool coheed and cambria t-shirt!!!

majestic interpretation of Tom Sawyer, thanks man
Carlos Dengler form interpol is missing :( he has amazing bass lines
this is the first time I’ve seen what D. stands for
Damn that Peavey is badass!
Basically, a T-40 is a mix between a Rickenbacker and a Precision Bass. I miss mine !!!
Hellz yeah! I didn’t know this could be used for bass. I’m going to have to look lingo one of these
Hey Patrick, Awesome video! Any chance you could share some of the patches you've made? (I just bought a GT-1000 Core) Thanks!

Epic!
3:10 I thing Them Bones has a flanger on it
Great video
