As the cast sing on the Xmas episode of the DVD Show... "Alan Braaaady, Alan Braaaady, Alaaaaan Brady....Alan Braaaaady...." Jesus what a crappy year 2020 is...one of the true giants of comedy..RIP
A relatively quick one, but all in all I'd score this as one of the very great interviews - though it would be hard not to with such a magnificently brilliant and magnetically appealing guest.
Don: Could you supply a clip of the time Mr. Reiner actually SAT on Dave's head! This had to be from the NBC days - mid-80's???...It is to this day, the funniest thing (and maybe the most extraordinary thing) a panel guest ever tried...and succeeded!
Early this AM was listening to NPR news headlines when the announcer simply stated they just received word that writer/director/comedienne Carl Reiner had died. Well I guess I focused on the REINER part because I started thinking about and picturing ROB Reiner, feeling pretty melancholy about it. It wasn't until a bit later that they expanded the story and said he was 98. Momentarily confused, I did a HUH?, reorganized my mental files and retrieved Carl. Sad, but not as. Overshared? Sorry.
One of the greats from the Golden age of TV!. My sympathies to his family and to his friends, especially his good friend Mel Brooks
RIP to a comic legend who never let his age get to him. :)
Oh shit. Even if 98. A genuine pioneering legend. You don't get many of those.
He was a comic genius!!
RIP Carl Reiner. A first ballot American comedy hall of famer.
I didn't know he had passed away. Really sorry to hear that. What a legacy!
Thank you, Mr. Reiner.
Directed all the best Steve Martin movies.
Tremendous talent and great human being. R.I.P.
This is TIMELESS
R.I.P Mr. Reiner🌸

YOU WAS ROBBED!
Hopefully not comedienne, which would have required surgery.
Did Mel Brooks ever appear on any of Dave's shows?
Once in early March 2000, when Nathan Lane guest-hosted while Dave was recovering from his heart surgery..
