For me it is about doing what you love in spite of everything. And doing it with such passion and life that it gives deeper purpose and meaning and definition. Loneliness and inconvenience are secondary.

最後のほうのストーリーは原作者の梶原一騎でなく、作画担当のちばてつやが殆ど考えてたとか。梶原が「真っ白な灰」とジョーのアイデンティ出し、ちばがエンディングにそれを取り入れた。最終回を描き終えたあと梶原はちばに「これは君の作品だ！」とべた褒めしたそうですが、二人に天才が生んだ作品ですね。
