This has apparently been called one of the worst animated movies of all time, and yet I can't help but find myself revisiting this song despite never actually watching the movie. There's just something about this song that keeps drawing my attention
I think it’s a very good movie. I watched it when I was a kid and back then I have no idea what Hanukah is, since my country has no jewish people. I still relate to many moments in this movie.
I did the math. Whitney is 67 years old in the movie. Meaning he was born in 1935. The movie takes place in 2002 as seen by the televisions. Now, at the prom it said 1945, whitey was only 10, either he was a smart kid or just happened to pass for a teenager
He was 69 in the movie, about to turn 70, so if the movie took place in the winter of 2001, he was probably born in 1932. The poster says 1946, so he was probably 14 or 15.
I have no idea what the fuck is going on in this movie, but the part where a random shirtless man appears and says they are on crack makes me laugh every time
The way Davey says "I wonder if that guy ever wiped his ass with the wrong hand" always makes me laugh, But when the guy says "Yes" I can't help but feel a little sorry for him because that's sadly one of the hazards of having a hook for a hand, Unless of course you put a cork or something over the point of the hook which that guy really should've done.

The movie's worst qualities are the toilet humor. They can be semi funny depending how they're used I guess? But the constant fart and poop jokes in this movie really set it back. The singing is actually really impressive and the animation being done by the same people who made the Iron Giant is nothing but fantastic. The fact that the movie does a surprisingly heartfelt take on accepting loss and not letting it ruin who you are and to be kind to others, while both letting Christmas AND Hannukah shine in a seasonal movie is great. I genuinely think if the movie would have toned down the toilet humor, it would have been received way better.
My husband and I recently went to Adam's I Miss You Tour and that's pretty much his whole schtick: toilet humor. I think Adam is so talented in other areas but he seems comfortable with toilet humor bc it's not the 90s anymore and he's still using it.

Even the full scene brings no context and I love that. Please never make me learn what this whole sequence is about.
I've been trying SO HARD to find the full context yet even after research I've got no idea lmao

Me too. 😂
I remember watching this movie way back in the day! Such a good movie
Wow nice and crisp quality. Used to seeing this classic movie in a lower 480p resolution.

"And ignored the burning smell, we should all rot in hell!! 😭😭😭"
This animation is so underappreciated.
The animation is a major issue. It's too good for what the movie was going for
Tainted by the abysmal writing
This song has so many jumpscares, it’s unreal.
Y'know that "think, person, think" meme? It would work perfectly for this whole scene. Davey's trying to get the people of Dukesberry to recognize the good Whitey has done for them.
