      @Redbenton12 You can improve your reactions, practice mode is amazing, there are no special people, even the pros (half of them are on shit during tourneys anyway) had to practice, they just practice more than most.. As long as you know what you want to improve practice mode has settings to set up every single situation possible in the game, the more time you spend practicing something the better you’ll get at it.. Making reads though is something else, that’s experience, and really you’re just straight up guessing, it’s not some kinda magic skill, just pure guessing

    Small tip: most flawless blockable string gaps the character says something or screams or there’s a very distinctive sound that tells you when to block, should help with the timing.

    • @BIGPUN4EVER
      @BIGPUN4EVER 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Exactly what I was going to say. Not allot of people realize this. You can also go by the sound of the hits. For example Kitanas low string into overhead ender... If you listen the fan sounds as u block, it's alot easier to flawless block.

  • @Kryo_GTS
    @Kryo_GTS 3 ปีที่แล้ว +31

    The problem with "flawless block" is that it's automatically a flawed mechanic out of the box for including but not limited to three specific reasons.
    1: The mechanic isn't realistically simple enough to execute like in INJ2.
    2: You have to know the flawless block gaps of literally every character on the roster.
    3: Not all characters have flawless block gaps.
    In conclusion, flawless block is essentially an upgraded downgraded version of push block from injustice 2.

    • @brandonmartin8305
      @brandonmartin8305 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Using flawless block against strings with gaps isn't really the main use though. Flawless blocking jump ins and counter pokes to steal your turn back is the way the meta is leaning. Don't get me wrong though, against shao kahn and Scarlett flawless blocking strings comes in handy. But most flawless block situations are pretty generalized

    • @d7b50
      @d7b50 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      While I agree it has some flaws it is in game none the less, and it was never advertised as something as practical as a push block, the people that the mechanic was intended for are people that know the whole rosters frames anyways, and gaps aren’t the main thing that those players utilize the flawless block on because once you start flawless blocking a gap the player will start to use a special move or fatal blow to close said gap, and you will get punished for trying to flawless block it so it is just another layer of mind games, and is a really powerful tool to stop people abusing jump ins in a game with some of the worst anti airs yet. When you do a safe string or special move and you know they are going to take their turn you can pretty easily flawless block when they go to attack you which can make them scared to take their turns right away and let you get away with taking back a turn, so yeah it is definitely not for everyone but can be a lot of fun and exciting and their are situations where if you practice it even casual players and beginners can utilize it like flawless blocking all jump in attacks

      Im from Day 1 too and its not that hard, only certain strings you need to pay attention flawless blocking. Even if the gaps are harder to challenge sometimes, learning to flawless block to only avoid chip damage from projectiles is still important and much easier than the other approches. One thing I think he glossed over in the video is the patch before aftermath came out which made it to where certain special moves like johnnys rising star for example if flawless blocked cannot be amplified and pokes cannot be cancelled into special moves if flawless blocked. A late game flawless block can really come in clutch especially for moves that have lots of chip damage

    • @smoketrail3183
      @smoketrail3183 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s mainly important for characters who’s move set is based around a plus frame string, I really only flawless block against jade, liu Lang, skarlet, and baraka. Doing it against the pokes or jumping kicks is really hard however if you practice flawless blocking the plus frame strings with a flawless block gap you’ll be surprised how quickly you grasp the concept

    • @alexmercer3499
      @alexmercer3499 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@smoketrail3183 Yeah true but there's no point of flawless blocking plus framed attacks if they all have big ass gaps in them (example: Shao Kahn F2,4 Liu Kang F4,3 u4 Scorpion 212 and Raiden 3,2,1) you can just mash,punish dash and Fatal Blow armor me before I manage to even frame trap you and apply pressure, that's an insult to offense.
      In my opinion I think flawless blocking needs an overhaul. If I go for a plus frame move or a move with a gap you should only be able to flawless block it, not mash outta my pressure. If you don't flawless block then you'll have to respect it and wait for a chance to get your turn back.

    5:05 wait...are you telling me mad dogg uses a pad? FR? That is insane. I don't understand why anybody would play fighters on anything but an arcade stick--unless you are burdened by budgetary restrictions of course, but...damn.

    I've been maining Shao Kahn because he's been the character I've been comfortable with most. I would play Kabal, Rain, And Frost. But I'm used to him the most. However if Havik comes, Imma main that badass.

    I manage to block flawless almost all moves, but by trying to press Up 2, it doesn't work. While I'm pushing the block, do I have to press up 2 or drop the block and then press UP 2 right away?

      Flawless Block then up+2(within 0.5sec after the block is released)

    For all the people struggling with flawless blocking and scared of how hard it sounds: get the mechanics down on how to do it and you will realise you are essentially just parrying people, based on prediction. Start with flawless blocking strings with gaps, then onto flawless blocking after safe strings that are around -5,-6, where your opponent will attempt to just check you with a good mid or poke but wont have enough frames to rish using highs or other moves that wont be guaranteed. Once you get this down, the mechanic can be used veeery freely. You want your opponent to fear losing their turn again for simply trying to take their frames.

    Here let me waste 200 hours on this game to master this fucking move. Sometimes i want to throw everything outside of my window cause of flawless blocks. I've never heard of them before and i will never use them in my life playing this game. Don't get me wrong this move is very good, but im not risking it in matches when you can fail and get comboed so hard you feel the punches through the screen.

      Its a mechanic not a move. And you don't need to spend 200 hours, heck not even 1 hour. This is not required at all to play online. I don't personally use it as well. I would only say to use this mechanic if a character or matchup really is giving you trouble. This is when this can give you an edge.

    The problem with flawless block is you need to know how to flawless block

    • @maxpawa9282
      @maxpawa9282 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      practice with jump kicks/punches first, then gaps.

  • @crashingblow3753
    @crashingblow3753 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Flawless blocking gaps to me is very easy. Flawless blocking first hits/pokes on the other hand is kinda tricky, but I found a way to simplify it. Let's say you do a string that is -5 or less minus, maybe even plus, what you want to do after getting your string blocked is to always expect your opponent to try to start their pressure by either doing a poke, a jab, or a mid. And depending on what string they use to start their pressure is the up option you must use. If your opponent is let's say Johnny Cage and he uses his 124, you cannot do up 2 or else you will get hit, you must use up 3. Now if you flawless block the first hit of a string like Jax's F3, then you may use up 2 because the second hit will take a bit more time to come out. I also went in the lab and saw that you can steal your turn from a jail. You probably know what jailing is. You get hit by a poke and it leaves you standing up, you cannot crouch due to the hit advantage. I'm a Nightwolf main and I always do 111 or 112 after landing my down 3, if you see that you get hit by my down 3, you can inmediatly FB the first hit of my 111 string and take your turn back.
