I just dropped my Durango with the eibach pro kit. Swapped out the rear load leveling shocks with regular ones like you stated in the video. Only thing is I’m now waiting on a front and rear camber kit because my camber is so far out after lowering it and taking it to Firestone for an alignment. Only the inner part of my tire makes contact with the road. Not a huge deal but I figured this would help someone trying to lower their Durango in the future.
Looks fantastic, your explanation was well thought out, very specific and without a doubt one of the best videos on lowering a Durango I've seen. Thanks for the info and keep 'em coming!
I hear when you add lowering springs, you should upgrade to performance-oriented shocks to match the new spring rate. This is to prevent premature wear on your shocks, as well as any “pogo effect” that may result from mismatched spring rates. Have you experienced any of that?
Rides better than stock now. Unless your off-roading or riding pot holes consistently the shocks shouldnt prematurely wear. Also the eibach springs only drop a couple inches so there’s not a whole lot of stress on the shocks. If your dropping low enough to get outward camber that’s when now your talking camber kits and performance shocks and that good stuff.
I need a camber kit after doing everything stated in the video with the exact same parts. After taking it in for an alignment the print out showed the front has 2.8 degrees of negative camber, the rear has 2.5 degrees of negative camber. I chose to order adjustable upper control arms as well as adjustable rear camber and caster arms. I understand Alex’s Durango didn’t need camber adjustments but that may not apply to everyone’s ride.
What shocks and bracket did you use. Like do you have a part number or anything. I got a 21 gt and the dealer doesn’t know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks your car looks great.
Hello. Looks great. Did you have to modify rear bump stop. I just did mine and there is no more travel for the shock as the bump stop is touching upper shock mount and top of shock when the Durango is off the jack.
So I used eibach with the load bearing shocks and it sucked. I went all around with swift racing sport springs and everything from suspension and down is all Trackhawk suspension. Including the cradles (diff, axles, hubs control arms etc. she rides low and stiff and corners almost as well as my hellcat. All suspension arms are black ops racing. I maintained the Load bearing shocks for when I tow my boat to the lake. I can get 21/2 fingers in rear while the front has 1 1/2 fingers. Love it and love the 3.73 gears!
Yup I used the two small white bump stops for the front that the eibach kit came with. In the rear I didn’t use any. I only bottom out in the if I hit a hard bump other than that all good.
Great video, thanks for sharing,,I have a 2016 limited I put lowering springs and the back it's really nice and low but the front it did not drop that much and I don't like that it's not the same,,any idea why that is and what can I do? Thanks
Can’t you just purchase rear lowering links? The factory link is what tells the vehicle where the height should be. So essentially just gotta change the rear links and add springs. Probably a lot cheaper
No. Without the much stronger LL shocks towing to capacity will put great stress on the rear shocks. So if I do need to tow something I will use a different truck. But that’s just me and my personal preference
By far the best video explaining how to and what parts you need to lower a Durango. I lowered my 2016 r/t with Blackops spec-c lowering springs with my self level shocks . It looks awesome but yes exactly what you said , when I drive it raises up then when not in use it sits back down.I tried changing rear shocks but it sags low right on the tires cannot even drive it. So just ordered eibach lowering springs going with your set . Again thanks .
I was looking at doing the Swift spec r springs from black ops. Is there any other reasons why you are switching? Or is it just because it raises when you drive. Was tire wear an issue also?
Just my personal preference, and after doing research on eibach springs, they will last the life of the vehicle so I will never have to worry about them failing. No tire wear issues whatsoever.
Thanks Alex do the spec r fail? The question was directed more towards GreenwasteWLA36605 since he has had experience using them. Keep up the great vids. Also on side note I’m going to do ZL1 addons splitter also. I notice your sides stick out further than the fender flares. I think this might be because that is the kit for the SRT models. They have larger fenders stock.
Hi, I will like to know if the same steps can be taken for a 2022 Durango RT, also for the leveling shock will i need both sides in the rear? Thank you.
Just got back from dropping my Durango 2022. I did have the load leveling shocks. I follow ur video 100%. Bought every single part you mentioned. It looks sick i also put velgens vf5 22s. Cant wait for them to fully settle. Thank you for the help & guidance.
I have to ask, is it bouncy when driving on roads over small bumps? I once had a 2013 300c lowered on eibech springs and it was really bouncy, almost annoying to the point I regretted lowering the car
Yes, you will more than likely bottom out the rear without the load level shocks I kept them on mine because the rear is full of audio equipment and have zero issues , they raise the rear while driving and it lowers back down after you park for about 30 min
Looks real good man great videos and work I'm waiting on my parts . Just a question did you have to compressed the springs? Im planing to do it myself but don't have the spring tool and any tips before I jump on it??? Thanks
@alex I swapped the shocks and the mounts on the rear not even 5 months and already need to replace because both are leaking . And making noise have you experience anything like that
Not recommended if your going to tow. But it rides better than stock now. Also only way your going to get major premature wear is if your off- roading or something or riding over pot holes consistently. Additionally these springs only drop a couple inches so it’s not a dramatic change or stress on the mopar shocks.
@AlexsRTLife im at a loss. I did all the necessary changes on my 22RT and im only seeing an 1" drop in the rear and 1.5-1.75" drop in front. Everything was done almost 2 months ago. Springs installed correctly and i went with Bilsteins in the rear. Any advice?
