I believe it is intended to put you into the sentiment of the perspective of Roderick's "friend", who affecrionately refers to his close friend as "Roger". It is a creative adaptation coming from the narrator, who was very passionate about stage performance and theatre, in general.
The narration and background score is apt and thrills the viewer....wish the zombie looking characters had a more human like look which would have been more appealing...
Great film. Thanks. Have you ever considered applying your talent to a rendering of "Berenice"? I'm not aware that anyone has ever attempted to film it. I'm sure you'd make a great production.
His name is Chris Miller and he lives in Canada. He released a few CDs independently long ago but never really took it to the next level with regard to reaching a wider audience. His work is genius though. He improvised this music while watching film clips in real time. I know because I recorded him doing it.
This is so unsettling I think it perfectly captures the essence of the original tale, great job!! I wish I had found this sooner!
This Gothic Masterpiece Should Be Cherished More Even The Background Music.
This is great. I absolutely love Edgar Allan Poe and his works. Too bad this isn't on dvd :)
They were original compositions created more or less on the spot by Chris Miller of London, Ontario (via Edmonton, Alberta).
Remember reading this in middle school. Had to watch this in anticipation of the new modernized Netflix series
i can say, we all have a different scene when we read and imagine it , yaa this good
I have read the book and I love this animation!!!!
When I finished the book, I regretted reading it at night.
Those potato cameras are a wonder. Well done.
Excellent Work.
I am a teacher and we are teaching Poe to our kids. I would love to show them the full length of this movie. Is it available for download somewhere?
If you loved this, read the book the fall. It is based on this short story.
Superb and hauntingly well done.
1:46 'Roger' Usher? No Roderick Usher. Anyways some beautiful animation here and it's a gorgeous little film.

It's reasonably accurate to the original, excepting the ending. The house is supposed to sink into the tarn (lake) before the narrator runs off.
Wonderfully creepy. Bravo; bravo (the reason why I'm 'replying' is that I'm the same person).

Excellent

That was amazing.
who else watched this because they were too lazy to read the story? :) LOL
Good job on the video by the way
Can you please tell me the piano compositions used in this film?

Nice film but you forgot that the house shatters
