Pretty good adaptation. At least in my opinion. I've seen several---the first was Roger Corman's classic 1960 version starring Vincent Price. Gothic horror is one of my favorite genres. Unfortunately, it's a rather lost cinematic art, most likely because there's no longer any audience for it among young people. Thanks for posting this !
The background music is so scaring that it gives chills and a feeling of intense gloom. Usher's face looks feeling less yet with so much pain of losing his sister. Overall nice story
Pretty amazing how they came from this one to the one from 1960! Awesome story, awesome films both of them. Personally i like the one with Vincent Price more.
It would be great to have a modern movie for the fall of the house of usher. It would be difficult to improve upon the performance of Vincent Price, but there is probably someone who could do a good rendition of Usher.
This is an adaptation which is rather nearer the original story than other versions. Although the plot is truncated, the sense of Gothic gloom and horror still comes across chillingly well. I'm unsure whether the location is meant to be In England or in USA in the film. In Poe's tale, it could have been either. Wherever it was, it doesn't detract from being such an effective story / film.

These two men had been friends in boyhood yet that Rodrick had a twin sister was unknown to his friend? Odd. And with such acute hearing giving Rodrick pain one would think the door hinges would be oiled. The squealing is a tad cliché for spooky productions.
soslothful Roderick kept Madeline a secret, since she herself didnt like the outdoors and socializing. In those days boyhood friends would have not mentioned family, especially if in boarding school
@@soslothful Love that! LOL The original text actually says that even though they were close friends, he knew very little of his friend, so I guess that explains why he didn't really know about the twin.
