The rootbeer belongs on a jubilee - end of discussion!

The new rootbeer looks fabulous. This vintage one look like. Um well - old

Austin Actually if shop wisely, the two tone jubilee 6253H is actually cheaper or same used than a 6251H steel, mainly because there are many orphaned from 70s and 80s datejusts

I wear my Bluesy 126613LB on special occasions, like going out with my wife to a nice restaurant, a classic music concert or a walk in the park with wife and kids. I don't wear it at the office although I could as nobody cares and I've spotted colleagues wearing two tones, well OK maybe I would on a casual Friday with jeans and a sports shirt.
Austin, I wasn't into TT until I met the Bluesy in the flesh, it completely changed my perception. I thought it would be gaudy, tacky, tasteless and garish. Boy, how very wrong could I be. I got so lost in that mesmerising dial and blue-gold colour combination that I can safely say hand on my heart this is the most beautiful watch in my humble collection.

That strap could be the worst possible choice available in this world.

Great video, Austin! Based on your recommendations, I just purchased a P-serial 16710 (black insert); can't wait to get it! Thanks for sharing the knowledge 🙏🏼

Laser welding wouldn't bother me at all, assuming we are talking about filling in a gash. Over polishing to the point of changing the lug shape would absolutely bother me.

Totally agree with you Austin, loose the cheap straps, for me it’ll be brown leather or steel oyster.

I had to bite my tongue and pass on an F series Oyster for only $7,700 because it’s just too bling and overstated. My 14050M and 16710 SEL are just fine.

G-d that is a nice watch. On a nice leather strap would be excellent.

I could see the Horus closed end tan rubber strap looking nice on that.

Good video and I agree rubber strap does not go. A antique leather woudl go and maybe a two tone nato might go well?

Those older Root Beers look really good on a chocolate brown suede strap....America Sniper star Bradley Cooper has one on such a strap.

Personally I am not a fan of the old Rootbeer. It isn't about the age it is about the colors. The new Rootbeer is a much cooler looking watch. All that being said if you like it then that is all that matters. If the TT oyster is too loud for you consider getting a steel oyster or jubilee. Also if I were going rubber I would go to Rubber B to get a rubber strap that was made to specifically fit your GMT.

Yeah baby, Blusey! What? I wear it with almost everything (except sweats). Yes, I concur, RSC every time.

I've got the new root beer and love the bling, however it doesn't get the wrist time my sub does. Unfortunatley its a bit much in some settings. The original is pure class.

Interesting video Austin! You say that your GMT's are minty and unpolished. But didn't you say in an earlier vid that you found out after some time that your 16710 Pepsi had actually undergone a polish, although you first thought that it hadn't? And that that makes your 16710 all black possibly more collectable than your Pepsi?

    • @watchsymposium
      @watchsymposium  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, that's right - I did say that in a video. I mistook a graze on the lower right lug on the Pepsi for signs of a polish. So, now I'm back to thinking it's unpolished.
But for the sake of your argument lets assume it is polished: The Pepsi is a full set + service papers, and the all-black just has box/tags + service papers. I'd say the Pepsi is going to be more collectable to most people, because everybody obsesses about papers, but only a relative handful of watch enthusiasts even think about non-polished pieces.

Seriously thinking of buying one. Have a TT GMT Ceramic Bumble Bee 🐝, with green GMT hand-it’s stunning. However, I’ve located a vintage GMT Rootbeer, later in the series-with full box and papers-very rare to find a documented Rootbeer.
    Very good condition.
    Is 17k too much?

    • @watchsymposium

@@watchsymposiumYou do great videos. As mentioned above, ended up receiving the GMT II RootBeer for Christmas. Documented Rolex service from
2021. Box and papers and all that jazz. In the sunlight it’s absolutely stunning. Mine looks just like the one you have featured, but my daylight portion of the bezel is more cream than gold.

I never understand why people buy a superb watch such as Rolex and throw it on some 3rd party strap, especially to "dress it down". You EARNED the money to buy the damn thing, wear it proudly and to hell with anyone who doesn't like it.
