I cannot believe it's been nearly 40 years since I watched this episode. At 13, I was more thrilled by the kiss at the end than by the actual lyrics. Yet, how ironic is it that the lyrics are more now poignant when I'm 52? Of course, the kiss is still thrilling, though. Many thanks to whoever found this sweet piece of nostalgia and chose to post it.
Doris was my favorite on this show. I loved her voice. I think that I probably wore out all my Kids From Fame records listening to all the songs and singing along.
Oh my God, too many memories...❤ I miss too much all these actors.Fame was wonderful, magnific, unforgetable, Ilove, and now, in 2021 I still see this dances. They were fantastic. This serie do part of my life.INFORGETABLE❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This brings me right back. When I was a younger man I had a crush on Doris Schwartz. Fame should be back on our TV - and I mean the original series! Just for the music, dance and the way they handled normal teenager problems. 'Starmaker' still gets to me, even after all these years.
I was in my twenties when this show aired and Doris and Bruno where my two favorite characters. All these years later, this still moves me. Why isn't there a network out there that picks up this pearl of a series?
I will always remember that epiode of the serie. First time I saw that I was 13. Valerie Landsburg has such a charming voice. The sound really had an impact on Bruno. It is a magic moment.
Oh gosh! I'm suddenly 12 again, starstruck and nerdy. We didn't have a VCR yet, so I would get me little boom box tape recorder and record the songs off the TV. I almost wore this cassette out! I loved this song so much. Thanks for the memories...
I love how they were real like their characters. It's almost a combo of American Idol or America's Got Talent and Glee. Of course, I watched Fame back in the day when I was 13, and compare ALL those shows to it. But it had a realness to it because of the talented people in it. Bruno wrote a lot of the songs in the show, and still composes for movies and TV, I believe. I don't think there will ever be a show like it again because of the talent. And oh, so many of my friends and I wanted Doris and Bruno to get together SO MUCH!
I share your sentiments, Tiffany. I recently acquired the first two seasons of Fame on DVD, and now my daughter is playing this song over and over again. These people will live forever!
I loved the show too, but apparantly, according to more recent interviews with the cast.....most of them were on drink or drugs to get them through!! Even Valerie.
I used to sing this song to an ex, now a very good friend, whenever we had frustrations. We both graduated from LaGuardia, both had big dreams, & went through the highs & lows of "making it" in the industry. We still randomly call each other to sing this to each other :)
what a good song,i too loved the bit when bruno and doris finally kissed,i liked them both, they were my fave characters,i too loved bruno as a child,i was only 7 though when fame started!
You You're different You go your own way Come what may You seem to do What you should do And nothing ever gets to you You're special They wrote a song just for you Beautiful dreamer That's your name And I want to be the same way, too Beautiful dreamer Share a dream with me You, beautiful dreamer Dream on and on Through eternity Some may call you foolish But only those who don't believe They can't conceive That dreams can come true But I do 'Cause I'm a dreamer, too Beautiful dreamer Share a dream with me You, beautiful dreamer Dream on and on You, beautiful dreamer Share your dream with me You, beautiful dreamer Dream on and on Through eternity You You're different You You're special.
Doris was to "Fame" was Buddy was to "Family". In the best tradition of american heroins: as wild as candid, free-spirited while long-suffering, and ultimately melancholic and unhapppy. A toast to my memories of you two, Doris and Bruno
Thanks for the observation- all these years I thought it was just me, LOL!! The 'stand-alone sequences,' in fact, segued over time to music videos, which would've been completely implausible in a musical drama setting with struggling, blue-collar, performing artists. The show was much more intimately presented and directed in its first year-and-a-half on NBC- it was more of a "television musical," if that makes any sense.
mca1218 you have hit on why the show never really caught on with the larger viewing public. Most of the episodes were stand-alone sequences with very little in the way of follow up story lines or cliff hangers. A shame. It was such a groundbreaking, creative show that could have really taken off......
I agree wayne. It has a crap theme song but the show was brill& I went to see the live shows. I loved fame inthe 80s. I hope ew version of the show isnt done like what appen with gladiators
sjoanne brown literally the only thing wrong with this tv show is its theme song, it makes my skin crawl, has done for nearly 20 years now. Wayne Holmes from Sydney, Australia.

I was 12 and I still cry when I see the kiss.
This song was beautifully sung by a beautiful woman and a gifted piano player, this song will forever stand the test of time

And Bruno was my favourite!!
Oh Starmaker is just such a sad and special moment because of the real life situation of the actor playing the teacher.
The kids from the original series should be cast as the teachers, now!
@@HairmetallurgistWhat a fantastic idea!!

❤
They more or less did. Except they called it "Glee"
The two were my favorite as well.

I was 13 yo , as well. I remember this moment very well
Lee Curreri wrote it.

One of my fav songs from Fame... and what a voice! Thanks from Brazil.
Brazil here too!!! Huge Fame fan :)

What a voice! Doris, the best!
So excited this song is finally on line! It was my best friends favorite song that I would sing to her.
This song influenced me in my current production of music..Didn't realize it until I found this video...Wow!!

Me too!!

Sweet memories...love F A M E
You
You're different
You go your own way
Come what may
You seem to do
What you should do
And nothing ever gets to you
You're special
They wrote a song just for you
Beautiful dreamer
That's your name
And I want to be the same way, too
Beautiful dreamer
Share a dream with me
You, beautiful dreamer
Dream on and on
Through eternity
Some may call you foolish
But only those who don't believe
They can't conceive
That dreams can come true
But I do
'Cause I'm a dreamer, too
Beautiful dreamer
Share a dream with me
You, beautiful dreamer
Dream on and on
You, beautiful dreamer
Share your dream with me
You, beautiful dreamer
Dream on and on
Through eternity
You
You're different
You
You're special.
❤

Chiara, what does prego mean?. Wayne Holmes from Sydney, Australia.
Chiara, I am in Sydney, Australia, what country are you now in?.
Wayne Holmes
I hate the theme song to fame so much, but would I be right in saying that the tv show Fame is WAY BETTER than all tv shows today?.
3 Worte...einfach nur traumhaft ❤
Bruno never did it for me. ;-) But I loved this song so much I sang it for a pageant...and won. Great song...haven't heard it in 25+ years.
This song is one me and my best friend Wendy sang years ago she taught me how to sing harmony to this song a song from kids from fame.
2024 e ancora ascolto questa canzone meravigliosa e la bellissima voce di Valerie Landsburg
I'd forgotten how good that show was.

@deepesttime Well said...love both Doris and Buddy--thanks for bringing those memories of 2 of tv's all time best characters back to me :)
This was from the TV Series, but Fame has been a Movie and a Stage play.

This old to show is way better than the crap on tv now, other than it's crap theme song. Wayne Holmes proudly from Sydney, Australia.
Wayne Holmes go wayne🍻
das schönste Lied bei "Fame"
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful voice
Rudolph, the main reason why at least the main us/Australian/G.B tv networks won't show these fame episodes becuase they are old.

@emmyjo720 Just replying to BobsWorld with a bit of sarcasm.
If this was a movie Bruno and Doris would've done it on the piano.😅😅😅
Roberto Carlos
@BobsWorld666 Uh.... a Jewish guy named Bruno Marttelli.... that is special...
Mmmmooi...
Nice melody and singing. Lyrics are a bit weak.
