I remember there was alway’s a moral to every story, with all the characters learnt something new every episode ,I think today’s generation would love it.
As someone who has been involved with musical theatre for nearly 50 years (I started performing 4yrs in 1968), this series & the original movie that started it all, became a source of inspiration & encouragement that I never received at home. I never missed an episode, and recorded them all on reel to reel, so I could sit at the piano & learn the songs.
Along with this one, my favorites were "Beautiful Dreamer", "Star Maker", "Life Is A Celebration", "I Still Believe", "Could We Be Magic" & "Step Up To The Mic". But in the end, there were so many others that I enjoyed as well.
I co-wrote this song with Gary Portnoy - I am SO honored that you liked it! We had one day to write to a one sentence description…and it won out over other songs at the last minute.
This and beautiful dreamer were my top two favorite songs from this show, my god she had a tremendous singing voice that could melt even the coldest heart 🥰
💕 i loved the show fame 💕 it was my all time favorite show to watch 💕 the music and the dancing was amazing 💕 everyone who played on fame did much awesome job 💕
After 40 years of intending to do so and trying and failing, I have just worked out how to play this on the piano. 2nd April 2020 lockdown RESULT people. 😀
why can't they release more fame songs on cd,i'd like a cd of some of the ballad-type songs like this, beautiful dreamer, just when i really needed you etc
This song was on an album only released in Europe "Kids From FAME Again"... As a cowriter, I was sad that they never released it in the US but you can find it on ebay or other used record sites.
As one of the two cowriters of this song (Gary Portnoy is the other), I am so touched by your comment!! What passes for honesty ISN'T always kind, but we can be.
Hi boys and girls, I am old enough to remember when TH-cam was a platform that welcomed us to post our own videos, without, FORCED POLITICAL ADVERTISING JUST SHOWING UP WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION. I feel like the Holocaust victims are swarming around me..... and that is no joke.
But have you all noticed how Gene Anthony doesn’t want to hold her hand in the Starmaker video? She only got the gig because her Dad was involved in the production and wasn’t well liked apparently.

@@rrg2248 How does this not have a reply!? I’m 56 and man, when this played the lyrics came from some magic space in my brain from all of those years ago. This was one of my very favourite songs from “Fame”. Thank-you for giving it to us.
What happened here? Doris pissed off some of the other kids, right? Coco seems to have been one of them, judging by her facial expression and demeanor. It sounds like Doris is apologizing to her and others. Did she upset Coco and how?
I wish they could bring the program back. Not a new series, but a repeat of the past program.
I wish the same here in germany...They do so much SH...T but the Good Stuff ...is missing
A glorious series, one of the best .
Valerie has an angelic voice! She's a beautiful person!
Valerie sang this tune so beautifully i cried hard trying to sing along with it. They gotta bring this show back. For real though.

The loudest video on TH-cam! Seriously though, Valerie Landsburg's voice is so pure and beautiful, brings a tear to the eye
When Doris sang, the world stopped...
The lyrics and music are one of a kind
Thank you! My cowriter Gary Portnoy is a wonderful collaborator and musician.
one of my fave fame songs , along with "Alone in the crowd" and "i still beleive in me"

🎶 LOVE THIS SONG A WHOLE LOT 🎶
This was the start of the 4th season everyone important had left or was leaving this season very few originals left after this season
Lovely song
Back in the time when songs were SONGS and not repetitive meaningless spiel.
Heøt nydelig film musikk, fra Fame serie. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
😅jeg er veldig glad i Fame musikken, som prøver å hjelpe seg selv og andre. Skulle ønske at de var flre episoder til.. ❤❤❤❤
If only people knew what this song really means...use it to aid in the quest to towards fighting bullying...just a thought :)
As one of the two cowriters of this song (Gary Portnoy is the other), I am so touched by your comment!! What passes for honesty ISN'T always kind, but we can be.
Che meraviglia 💕💕💕

Too many memories. I am sooo sorry I think I must have been wired up wong5
😢
Love you.
I would like to find the sheet music for this.
It's in a book of the Fame songs by Hal Leonard Publishing...you might be able to find it on eBay if its not still in print (I cowrote the song)

Which episode was this from ?
season 1 I have all the discs of fame
"The Crazies"
But have you all noticed how Gene Anthony doesn’t want to hold her hand in the Starmaker video? She only got the gig because her Dad was involved in the production and wasn’t well liked apparently.
Unparalleled face acting from Erica
Does any one remember what happened in this episode?
Doris y Mongomery habían acordado decir solamente la verdad por un día.
I don't think this video was loud enough
Anyone have the lyrics to the song? Please
Show me how to make it right
or should I just stay out of sight
I said too much already there’s nothing left to say
All my good intentions went astray
I was only trying to help
I wasnt acting selfishly
I know you'd do the same for me
I didnt know the truth could hurt
until I saw you crying
I was only trying to help
Loves’s gone wrong fallen apart
& When I said what’s in my heart
I learned the truth about honesty
It isn’t always kind
You gotta think before you say what’s on your mind
I was only trying to help
I wasn’t acting selfishly
I know you'd do the same for me
I didn’t know the truth could hurt
until I saw you crying
I was only trying
I was only trying to help
I wasn’t acting selfishly
I know you'd do the samefor me
I didn’t know the truth would hurt
til I saw you crying
I was only trying to help
I was only trying to help

it really makes me happy that this was meaningful for you!
Fame is as good as Glee, both these tv shows are good.
Dude, NO musical show beats Fame for its inspirational tales. Glee is but a weak version.

(I cowrote the song) The plot was that they had made a pact to tell the unvarnished truth for 24 hours...and wound up upsetting a LOT of people...
What had she done?
Two of the students vowed to tell the truth for 24 hours - but sometimes their blunt opinions hurt people’s feelings
@@rrg2248 Did she say anything about the piano player’s hair?
@@TomRipley7350 his hair was and is gorgeous......just like the rest of him, inside & out!
