Joan Collins’ artificiality and retro glamour were perfect for the Reagan era and “Dynasty.” She had to wait thirty years to become a star, but when she hit, she really hit.
Totally. The most famous women on the planet in the 80s were Diana & Dame Joan....closely followed by The Queen & Mrs Thatcher! Took a very specific kind of actor to make it big in Dynasty, naturally had to believe in the crazy plots, but needed a big dose of theatricality or artifice to make it work really well.
