    Just my 2 cents, never normalize when bouncing, it´s kinda f'd up. The search thing sucks, but there´s a tool by plugsearch that solves the issue. Also, there are track groups aside from stacks/folders. You can make a custom plugins organisation and custom favorite folder which is quite helpful too. Also, one thing that a lot of people miss is that they think Aux returns can't be moved to wherever you want, you can, you just need to right click it and create track, that way the Aux shows in the editor and mixer, and you can move it around and also automate it. Automation is where i think Logic kills any other DAW I've used, it´s just super fast and friendly in that sense. Aside from the obvious tons of content, loops, presets and sounds. Cool video.

    “Who the heck makes gulfoss” Bro as someone who’s been using logic for 10+ years this summed up my biggest problem with this DAW lmao. I can’t remember who makes half these plug-ins 😂. Otherwise, as primarily a songwriter and producer I feel that this program is ideal for me and I absolutely love it. Sometimes I mix in ProTools but I find that a lot of the same tools between the two DAWs are just more intuitive in logic. That could just be bias from experience but as I get more interested and serious about mixing and engineering I have found logic to be more and more powerful and not hinder me at all. Anyways I am really happy I discovered your channel and I love your inspiring content man keep it up

    I mix in Logic full time. It's quite frustrating you can't search for plugins. Thank God there is a plugin called PlugSearch by Speaker Food! It's like $20 and has been a massive time saver.

    Hi there, being a heavy Logic user I can tell you that over time you stop using the Audio Unit folder to search for plugins. In the same way, you organize your studio to have everything on hand, you should organize your DAW in the same way. Logic hse the Plugin manager that allows you to create sub-folders and categories so you can quickly find the plugins you need. Also creating a library of pre-saved channel strips can speed up the process. Saved channel strips can be organized in folders too so you can easily and quickly access them via the settings button that is on every channel or the library.

    • @RecordingStudioLoser

      That’s fair. Thanks for the input!

    I've never used anything else but Logic, so this was the video I was looking forward to. I think your complaints are valid and would never argue with you on them. There are ways around the plugin search thing, but those require a third-party tool like PlugSearch or taking the time one afternoon to set up your own folder structure inside Logic's Plug-in Manager. Also, I didn't see you do it, but did you use the "Ping" feature in the IO plugin? That automagically sets the latency compensation for you.
    Since all my mixing muscle memory is Logic-centric, I get frustrated AF when I try to use other DAWs (like Pro Tools). So watching you get frustrated with Logic was a pretty accurate mirror image of how I feel when I use Pro Tools. :) I personally have no desire to change DAWs because I don't want to have to relearn a bunch of stuff. But Apple isn't messing around with the pricing structure of Logic like Avid is with Pro Tools, at least not yet, so the $199 I paid them 5 (maybe 6?) is all I've ever paid. Of course, they're getting their cut when I have to remain in the Apple hardware realm to use Logic in the first place, so there's that...

    • @RecordingStudioLoser
      @RecordingStudioLoser  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a really good point. Money wasn’t a consideration here. Since I have perpetual licenses for both. However I should have take that into account.

    @blakematthews6374 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like the video, and I realize no one sits down at a new DAW and knows the ins and outs so this isn’t to be critical, but a few things. 1. Double clicking a plugin parameter will set it back to the default usually. 2. Double clicking the send level will set it to unity. 3. Drum editing in logic isn’t its strongest point, but you weren’t in flex mode to where you can do more with the editing features, like fixing bad hit points, fixing a hit being pulled to the wrong beat, etc. 4. Yea the plugin typing thing is annoying, however you can arrange you plugin menu to where you can organize your plugins into folders like “compression” and then just have all your go to compressors in that folder at the top of the menu. This helps speed up your workflow a lot, but yea, I agree typing would be way easier.

    An oddball one to try would be Reason. It's one of the last DAWs to add 3rd party plugin support and its workflow emulates an analog studio with racks and such. In past versions, you had to manually patch virtual cables as well.

    I tried Logic for a while. Wonderful Daw but i decided to go back to Pro Tools. What bothered me was:
    1. Muting a single voice of a multi membral instrumental was a hassle. Granted, it has loads of ways of muting. Just not a simple way of muting one voice of a multi membral instrument.
    2. The mixer confused me. The sequence the tracks were laid out was not how the mixer was laid out. It did not make sense to me.
    I decided to not continue use it but still it's a wonderful Daw with loads of features. I can recommend it to composer/producers.

    Typing plugins: Yes it's a great flaw of Logic. Everybody is asking for that. Actual Logic users, not those who use it once in a while, sort plugins by genres (rev, comp, dl, etc... even with subfolders for favorites), not by manufacturer. For your master bus or whatever channel strip and bus you want you can save configurations with your usual & favorite effects already on it. Click, load, done.
    Option-click to reset a value works in Logic but some 3rd party plugins don't implement that.

    There's a feature in groups called 'quantize' that, from my understanding time alines your tracks to fix phase. Although the name is misleading. You can also right click a track in arrangement view to set it as a 'groove track', and then check mark which other tracks you want to quantize to the 'groove track's timing.

    Ive used Logic for around 15 years now. Its good but hasn't changed much in that time. I still prefer it over ProTools for most things but theres a lot that they need to get right I think. its definitely easier than a lot of the other Daws to get up and running fast... but its not fast to use straight away. learning what things do and where they are is ironically un-logical. But, say you have a mix and there are a few notes that arent very well played in. the quick sampler saves you all the time youv'e lost looking for plugins in your editing. So thats a big plus in that sense. was nice t see my home DAW being used :)

    @6:17 Even though cutting some low frequencies might help in not overloading any hardware compressors, this will not do anything about aliasing. That's what the (analog) anti-aliasing filters inside your converters are for. The video you're referring to only applies to aliasing that occurs in the digital domain.

    as someone who used logic for so long, and have used it for work that it cant really handle (audio post) and what it handle great (film score aor any music production) I feel you woudnt like logic at all. 1st as a logic user, I hate that its automation is primitive, like its 2022 its still doesnt have preview automation or some sort, it doesnt have advance automation mode. doesnt have VCA spill like protools or some version of it like Nuendo/cubase. Yes group folders arent that. large projects will be hard doing and editng in logic. next is, all the updates it gets seems to be geared towards beat makers not realy much on the mixing, audio production etc.. Ayou can mix with any daw anyway, but if we are just talking about having advance things for mixing, logic aint it. Now for creating music, its one of the best, given its price, plugins and capbility.
