Interesting point you made about it being an art project as much as a guitar build. The rev Billy attended the Warner Brothers' art school in Hollywood, California, when he was starting out. His cousin was art director Cedric Gibbons, for Samuel Goldwyn at MGM Studios......Now you know
a little pro tip if you do something similar is to, spray both sides let it tack up a bit then push down, and sand both sides of the foam with that type of foam to get it to stick properly. it shouldn't have pulled up that easy when you where doing the bridge. I'm a auto upholster. great idea for a guitar, might have to try something liike this. great video
I still had a jar of that Gorilla Snot from like 1992. 😂 I gave to a guy last year who kept dropping his picks. I think the 92 Gorilla Snot was rock solid. 😂 was in my 89 Strat case. Marty love the ZZ Top fur guitar! Cool video man!
Looks awesome Marty, man I don’t know if you would be into it or not but if so would love to see some lessons on more Journey stuff, Still They Ride, Suzanne, Be Good To Yourself haha some of the deep cuts no one else does. Neal is my favorite player so I incorporate a lot of his style into my own. Be blessed brother love the channel.
That wireless transmitter will be invisible too. Cool project and sounds killer. I would limit to outdoor gigging, or it will turn yellow from cig smoke.
Yeh man hahahaha. I went from veterinarian to manscape to Brazilian waxer on my mind all in like 30 seconds. Between filming I was just laughing so hard at times.
Heck yea! That is cool! You definitely were able to overcome some obstacles. I usually have less luck when it comes to construction like this, so you did well planning it out. Very cool video.
Pretty cool Marty! We'll call it the Gibson Bath Mat! Im afraid my penchant for freezer pops and drunken late night nacho cheese meals would have my version less-than-perfect in short order.
Sweeeeeeet! Damm this is a fun vid, Marty! And Killer guitar! I guess I was right around 13 in '83 when Eliminator exploded. Actually... turned 13 in Dec of '83. So I would have been 12 during that whole year. And I think you and I are about the same age. Give or take a little. So yeah - those were fun times, and Eliminator was a game-changer for me, man. I obsessed over that one, and Afterburner, for probably 10 or 12 years. And it's still on my play list. Shave the hole. Gimme' All Your Luvin. Got Me Under Pressure. And even the oft over-looked Bad Girl. What a record! This is just so fun. Might need to look into this. My friends would love it. Rock on, Bro!
lol. I had a feeling you would do this, when you said you didn’t care too much about the finish ….lol Looks great, hopefully you don’t have pets who might wanna snuggle up to it… Great job Marty
I am most impressed with the DIY guitar being playable and that glue holding. Very curious on the durability over time. Did you have any thoughts of using the gorilla adhesive for the fur along with leveraging the parts that are screwed down? Like have the pickup rings screw into the fur, etc? What a wild project. Enjoyed the video.
I have it a lot of though and decided gluing around the pups made the most sense especially for time. The birdge and tailpiece along with knobs and strap buttons are through the fur. I figured the foam would give it extra grip and so far so good. No lifting 😃🎸
Lol very unique and sounds great I bet a set of SD Invaders with 500k pots would sound even sicker dude also is that a Misfit tattoo on your arm and I got a black and white kitty too that photo bombs 😂
Now give it a drop test. The tuners look like Don King. Now you need to build a harness so you can spin the guitar while you're playing. 🙂 Don't let any horny dogs near it now. lol
Are you sure your cat needed a shave?😂 I'm not a doctor! But I believe you can get help!😂😂 I love science! But Marty, you gotta draw a line somewhere! 😂😂😂😂 Thanks Marty 🤘 that was fun....??? 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why didn’t you get a pair of shears and make a card board template first? Then you could use the template and outline the foam to that template first; cut out the pattern; then the last step..glue the foam to the guitar.
Ok..after you maliciously got the foam on the guitar..again you should have used a card board cut out and layed it on top of the foam…then cut out your patter from the card board cut out to the white fur on top of the guitar with shears of a razor blade. Then fine tune the cut out marks with the shears or scissors to clean up the cuts a bit.
Finding the bunghole of a cat, I'm dying! 😂😂😂

Marty looking through the fur for the holes... Remind anybody else of prom night? Just me? Ahhhh. It was the 80's.
lol! And late 90's too 😂😂
Turned out great...ZZ Top ... That will definitely get a lot of attention at a Gig... Cheers 🍻 🥃🥃 🎸 🎵🎶🎶🎶
Oh yeah! I'm sure. It's mostly a conversation piece. Fun stuff!!

Great job brotha, your channel rocks!!!!
Thanks dude 😎🎸
That wireless transmitter will be invisible too. Cool project and sounds killer. I would limit to outdoor gigging, or it will turn yellow from cig smoke.
This is so ridiculously awesome. You have to fashion some sort of spinner on the back.
Thank you! Yes that would be awesome.
LOL when you were trimming the fur between the pickups and hardware made me think of a Manscape ad for some reason.
Yeh man hahahaha. I went from veterinarian to manscape to Brazilian waxer on my mind all in like 30 seconds. Between filming I was just laughing so hard at times.

Thanks so much man!
Well done!!!!!
Thank you!

Fantastyczny pomysł, rewelacja!

A haw haw haw, she’s got legs 😅 need a spin swivel belt buckle too! Got to do it right…
I gotta say, was not expecting this 😂 But hey, makes for a great conversation piece.
It sure does lol
Over all..very nice job
Thanks!
Now that caught me off guard wasn't expecting that reminds me of my teenage years back when MTV played videos 24-7 crazy build 😂

Thanks! I hope it doesn't get fleas 😂
Gotta use a stool swivel to spin the guitar for that extra bit of class...😎😎😎
Yes! Lol

Great guitar! Make sure you get a license for that thing, take it for walks, and get it food and water - well, maybe not water lol!!
Pretty epic job
Thanks dude 😎🎸

Don King tuners hahah! 😂
Thumbs up for you Marty, thumbs down for waste of raw materials.
Looks good Marty. Are you going to mod to make it spin???
Not very practical, but, it looks so dam cool. To hell with practical, it's a rock guitar🤘
True that man! Lol
Oh wow, that's so cool
Fuck yeah! Got it on the second guess.
Do you think Gibson made those for them. Now you need the fuzzy bass guitar for a set.
I think some custom builde probably did. Never researched. I need to deep dive. 🤟🏻
@@Ranch5150SkinWalkerI believe the original ZZ top fur guitars were built by Dean Zelinsky, founder of Dean Guitars.

I gonna do that with my bass. Not white tho.
What are your band mates going to say when they ask if you're ready, and you say "just a sec, I need to brush my guitar first..."
Truth. Or if one of them gets fleas from the guitar 😂
Why didn’t you get a pair of shears and make a card board template first? Then you could use the template and outline the foam to that template first; cut out the pattern; then the last step..glue the foam to the guitar.
Not sure really

Cool. Next furry guitar I make I'll consider this. 🙏
Rad!
You should name it the yeti.
Or Bumble from Rudolf haha
Feeling like a vet looking for the hole 😂
sick poodle guitar, dude. guess you'll need to have some carpet cleaner on hand for when it needs to be freshened up, heheheh.
PS:: I hope you don't get fleas!!! 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤘
Guitar Dinkle Berry Prevention.... omfg
Well, you don't have to paint it.
😂😂😂😂😂
