Completely agree. Lived in LA over 30 years. Everything is difficult to do. Everything is far away. I had friends come into town and asked what to do there. Go to the beach. Go to Universal City. Go to Hollywood (a dirty rip off). That's it. Homeless everywhere. Crazies everywhere. Traffic everywhere. Few parks. Even the weather isn't that great. Most days overcast. Restaurants boring chains and fast food. The Valley is too hot. Too much crime. Stupid 7 11 stores on every corner. ZERO architectural history. Everything is torn down every 30 years.
Overcast is much the norm over most of the nation. The places that aren't consistently overcast are those that have persistent high pressure systems, but that means hot as blazes in the summer. I grew up in a hot climate and love it, but to those not accustomed it can be really unpleasant.
I live here and yeah it's super overrated. Horrible public transit, fucking traffic, homelessness, car-dependcy, expensive, horrible biking infrastracture, fucking cars. Everything is too fucking spread out and isn't easily accessible unless you have a car. It has one of the best weather in the world year round and should be the walking/biking capital of the world. Instead, it's the opposite. Fucking wasted use of perfect weather with absolutely poor urban planning.
It'd be great if they'd just build enough freeway capacity to allow traffic to flow smoothly, but they won't because excuses. There is no beating a car for being able to go where one wants when one wants. One of my parents grew up in a big eastern city, and one of the worst things is when there is unusually high ridership on the metro lines and one gets stuck standing at a bus stop when it's 15 below zero because the bus is full to allowed capacity and the driver cannot stop. Granted, there are not winters like that in SoCal, but it still is a bad situation to be late to work when mass transit has its snafus. BTW, the reason that Los Angeles built out instead of up is because FDR decided that wasn't good for people a la the eastern cities. But the irony is that the build up, not out happened when government took a more hands off approach and to get LA to built out instead of up took the heavy hand of government. And not a small consequence in all this is all that fertile farmland in SoCal was paved over.
As a Southern California native, here’s my advice to anyone considering vacationing in Los Angeles. If you follow the tips listed below, I’m confident that you will enjoy your trip. 1. RENT A CAR. You will regret not doing so. 2. California is pleasant if you embrace it as a local. Try not to get sucked into tourists traps like the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The only tourist trap that’s worth visiting is Venice Beach. 3. Best Beaches - Rancho Palos Verdes - Cabrillo Beach - Manhattan Beach - Hermosa Beach - Huntington Beach If you visit all of these beaches you will definitely enjoy your trip. 4. Most Underrated City=Long Beach, California. If possible fly into Long Beach Airport and book your hotel in Downtown Long Beach. Drive to L.A. instead. 5. If you’re African American be sure to visit View Park, and Lemiert Park. Have a smoothie at Simply Wholesome restaurant. 6. Watch your favorite sport at COSM Los Angeles. Thank me later. 7. Remember there’s more to California than just Los Angeles. 8. Best places in Hollywood, Ameoba Music, Yamishiro Restaurant and a concert at the Hollywood Bowl.
Guilty as charged! I visited LA for a concert this year with my partner (from Sydney, Australia) and it was one of the most disgusting places we've ever been. It was so gross to see so much wealth concentrated in one place just bathing in so much poverty.
Lol even folks from other cities in L.A county don't even like DTLA or Hollywood I'm from long beach,CA and maybe only go there if I have to like every 5 years I actually go to San Diego and las vegas more than I do to DTLA which is less than 25 miles away.
I’m from LB too. If only they knew that there’s a world outside of Hollywood. Long Beach is a great place to vacation. If more tourists flew into Long Beach they’d fall in love with California.
I agree, LA sucks. I lived there for years and I think it is not a good city at all. Even okay cities in Europe like Antwerp in Belgium are way better than LA. Many cities in the US are better than LA, such as Philadelphia, NYC, San Francisco, Seattle, Miami, Washington DC, Charleston SC, Minneapolis, Key West, And San Diego.
San Francisco is worse than L.A way more crime. NYC has Venezuelan refugees shooting at cops and draining folks bank accounts when they steal their phones on scooters.

The car-dependency is one of its biggest flaws in my opinion!! Thanks for watching :)
Agreed. The design is awful

Look at Sydney most of the money is in the North Shore and Eastern Suburbs compared to Western Syd, most big cities are the same
@@shielsy1 absolutely nothing like Los Angeles. There is nowhere in Sydney even close

Too overpopulated and too fast paced. I’m glad I left.
Not thatt terrible, just depends where. Many areas are a dump with homelessness. Some spots are nice but overall there are better cities than here

I think the nice part of LA is where the boats come in. Port of LA. the city around there is nice.
You are either referring to san pedro or long beach those areas are nicer but LB seems to he having a crime wave right now.
if chad hates it, imagine how jose and choo feel about it
