Yeah but the strength helps. I used to get into fights at school, and did a lot of strength crap like push-ups and situps (I didn't really know what I was doing). And my brother was in wrestling. He came at me one day (as brothers do) and he tries his wrestling moves on me and I managed to outmaneuver him and was faster and stronger, despite only being in street fights and no formal training. I imagine that muscle memory on not doing illegal moves in sports like that could be somewhat of a handicap.

I used to box on a university boxing team 40 years ago when it was a varsity sport. Occasionally tough guys would stop by the gym, asking to get some gloves and get n the ring with a trained fighter. They always got humbled. One day a tough guy came by about my size and my trainer Jimmy beckoned me over, "Get in the ring and work with this guy." So I climbed into the ring, put on the headgear, and went a round with this guy off the streets who evidently was really tough in his hometown. It took all of a couple minutes before he was stepping out of the ring, crying and moaning about how I "got lucky," "cheated," whatever. It was a lot of fun for me going a round with a sitting duck who had no clue what he was doing. Lot easier than fighting the trained guys I sparred with on a regular basis who could potentially hurt you if you made a mistake. Fun days.

My friend was a tough bouncer. A waitress told him he had to get a fairly big, brash talking drunk guy out of the bar. My friend told the waitress to give the customer a double shot of apple Crown Royal. The waitress protested. "Trust me, and make sure its not chilled" he said. Sure enough the customer downed the double shot. In short order sweat broke out on the dudes brow. Next thing you know the guy ran out the door and across the street to the beach to puke his guts out. No force needed. The fact that my friend is a master of tactics is belied by his large physical stature, Police Athletic League and Golden Gloves boxing training, kung fu training, bouncer experience, tree climber arborist/ chainsaw using log lifting /training, and general zest for hurting people who are being assholes. The boxing coach ,
    What a cool headed dude,
In complete control, gave a non student a free valuable lesson , could've been much worse if the coach had a vindictive mind,
The control he has in not abusing his skills on the un-trained is admirable,
Gave just enough to show it.
That calm, that a trained mind has, is an incredible skill.
    Last guy with the security,
    Not cool at all.
    And that "oxygen" comment.
    Factual and clinical,
    Love it .

When I was practicing Kyokushin, there was this guy, whose cousin trained with us. He came and said that his cousin paid for the course but couldn't be here, so he would train in his place. Our senseii agreed. The he sees a Brown belt trying to open a window that's been rusted shut and said, "You got soft hands, you won't be able to do it." He challenged a Green belt to a fight, but the green belt refused, given that this guy was a white belt whose dogi wasn't here yet. Eventually, the entire dojo got tired of his shit bravado. So, when Senseii was absent and had given the charge to one of the senior students, he asked none of us to raise our hands except this one green belt.
So, the senior student comes up and says, "Who wants to do light sparring?" The green belt raised his hand, all of us, as instructed, stayed our hands. The noobie noob noob raised his hand enthusiastically, which was part of the plan. We all knew that he would raise his hand, no other white belt would be that stupid. So, they were sent to spar. The green belt gave two or three low kicks, very softly. Same movement, same place. So, the noobie expected a fourth low kick. He looked down, lowering his head. And lowered his arm to block the next low kick. I think you know where this is going.
Straight, beautiful roundhouse to the face. Ain't been a cleaner roundhouse performed on a face on the history of mankind. Who knows how long it had been, but eventually, he did wake up. And the first thing he said when he woke up was, "I... thought... this was light sparring!" The green belt said, "It is, buddy. It is. We're doing full-contact here. Our light sparring ain't touch and go."
He never showed up in the dojo again.

I trained with a buddy that had gotten his first black belt in Kyokushin when he was 17-18 (he went on to study differnt styles). The main thing that I learned from him was his leg kicks (He spent time with me showing me the correct technique)
      That style is no joke!

    • @mr.diontoahmed1134
      @mr.diontoahmed1134 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@jpad470 In terms of striking, I'd place it at Number 3.
      1. Muay Thai/Muay Born
      2. Ashihara/Boxing
      3. Kyokushin
      4. Pencak Silat
But Kyokushin sucks so badly at grappling that they'd be taken down within seconds. But if you combine that with an actual Grappling art, it's legendary.
      For Grappling, I'd say...
      1. Greco Wrestling
      2. Judo
      3. Sumo/Jiujitsu
Arts that have good balance between Grappling and Striking:
      1. Kudo
      2. MMA
      3. Pankration
      Martial arts with medium effectiveness:
      1. Jiu Jutsu
      2. Kenpo (Forgot the names of the forms)
      3. Kalaripayattu
      4. Krav Maga
And a few out there that I can't remember right now.
      Weapon arts:
      1. HEMA/Eskrima
      2. Iaijutsu/battojutau
      3. Kendo
      4. Fencing
Anything outside this list is just Bullshido. It's not an opinion, but a fact. TKD guys and bjj and Wing Chun guys may start crying and arguing, but they will ALL get absolutely demolished against these arts.

OMG that first one is freaking GOLD. Can't come into a boxing gym and challenge the coach. Yeah not if your grey matter is functioning properly. You can ask for a lesson but a challenge is going to hurt unless you were trained elsewhere. Love how the coach is like "you came down here now you're going to work" might be has his punching bag but you still getting in some free lessons on what not to do.
