The fact that Shelby Rabara (Peridot) didn't win any awards for this episode is CRIMINAL. It's literally one of the greatest examples of voice acting I have ever heard.
I think the reason this season’s finale doesn’t feel quite like a finale is because seasons 2 and 3 were originally supposed to air as one big 52 episode season!
I still think the new two episodes should if been the finale
Usually people say that there is a calm before the storm but I think that the best way to describe season 3 is a storm before the storm because it is incredibly well done in my opinion
This season ended that way, because Cartoon Network split the season from that point on. For Crewniverse (Studio that develops SU) The second and third season are the same thing... As well as the fourth and fifth. Cartoon split these seasons to better fit its schedule. But technically Steven Universe has 3 seasons, a movie and a special season.
It actually makes so much sense why seasons 2 and 4 start woth the aftermath of the previous season, but 3 and 5 pick up right in the middle of the action.
If you think about it it only has three or four regular seasons and a movie, Steven Universe Future was developed as part of the OG series

Man I love this season and Peri's arc. As an aroace person who grew up in Russia, I relate to her so hard in general, but especially in this episode. The confusion of wanting to understand but also being afraid of opening up is such a personal experience that they depicted so well with her I just. And how the Crystal Gems helped her heal from the harmful mindsets that were installed in her by the environment she lived in. I just hdidksjxkak I can't, I love Peridot so much!! She's def my favorite character. Looking forward to your s3 reactions!!💘

the reason this felt odd as a finale is bc it was originally meant to be the midseason of Season 2, but partway through (i think before peridot got redeemed) they announced that each season would be split in half (S2+3 were originally meant to be a longer S2)
I never realized until now that Peridot was shipping two guys
S3 is about to be a doozy! It’s really great and the coming episodes are so good. There was some foreshadowing from the last few eps coming in this next season. I can’t wait for more! 😊

Honestly I feel like the vast majority of characters in SU are neurodivergent coded. As an autistic and ADHD person, I can see parts of myself in every character but largely Steven, Amethyst and Pearl.

I’d call it a mid season finale. I mean, we did just see one of the top brass. This is an aftermath episode.
Also "Bok Bok I'm a chicken" is my favorite line ever don't ask.

I mean if they don't talk over it why bother with the reaction at all? Might as well put subway surfer game play next to it instead if the reactor is not going to do commentary
These are... reaction videos? The whole point is seeing how they react to what's going on and their verbal commentary is a large part of that. These videos aren't supposed to just be steven universe footage with 2 faces next to it, that would just get taken down immediately, the point is they have commentary and theories and emotional reactions.
