"They framed it as this amazing world with all of these interesting characters...but it's a hero shooter". I have been saying this about Overwatch for YEARS.
- game released AFTER the first trailer for the show - game shut down BEFORE the first trailer for the episode based on the game You know Amazon has to be pissed. lol This could have been Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, Killzone, Uncharted, Horizon. Imagine if this was a Blizzard-centric episode: Overwatch, Diablo, Starcraft, World of Warcraft. Imagine if this episode was based on Legacy of Kain, which has a remaster coming in early Dec. This episode could have been literally ANYTHING else and it would have been better off. Instead, they have an episode based around a game that was shut down less than two weeks after it's release. lol I feel like people will still definitely watch this episode ... but for all of the wrong reasons.
As far as Sony is concerned, if it’s not Uncharted, Last of Us, Horizion or God of War, then it doesn’t exist. Hell, they barely acknowledge Gran Turismo and that’s only to compete with Forza
There actually isn't going to be a "God of War episode" sadly. There's just a "Sony properties" episode that will feature various Sony games. Concord is the only one that gets a full dedicated episode.
@@whalewaffle2771 Sadly not. You can look up the episode list. The show's creator described the Sony episode as "a love letter to cinematic games", which makes it even funnier that Concord got a separate episode.
I refuse to believe that Sony invested $200M+ on that game. Granted, the game itself isn’t terrible by any means, it’s just SOO painfully bland and generic that doesn’t offer anything on the table. If you played 1 hero shooter, you basically played them all and Concord is the epitome of that. Doesn’t help that it released a the exact WRONG time where people were already feeling tired and burnt out with the 5v5 hero shooter. Talk about striking the iron when it’s blue cold.
They could've make an entire episode of god of war or even horizon (because the recent stupid horizon push). But instead, they bundle other playstation ip to one episode
I still can't believe Concord is the only PlayStation IP that gets its own dedicated episode while others like God of War have one episode they have to share. Like, what were they thinking when they made that decision, so many people would have loved to see and episode fully dedicated on Kratos, but no, we're getting that for concord instead
That would have been impossible. It was already made and had a contract with Sony. But hey, it most likely will be better than the game, not that it's a hard thing to accomplish tbh.
Horizon always seemed like the game casuals love but don’t really think about. Like the Lego game looks good but you wouldn’t only really buy it if you were going to play it with your kid or something like that. Horizon just was never meant to be a large franchise.
You know what be funny if the episode about Concord was better than the game itself and was actually good Realistically, I don’t know, but just a imaginary scenario
I really like the Horizon games. I think they are great, but even I think they are overestimating how much people like the game I didn’t get the psvr2 for the only first party game call of the mountain, (apparently I didn’t miss much) the Lego game will not be going on the Christmas list because I don’t think it’s worthwhile with my time and now the online game. Maybe I’ll play it if it good and cheaper. But I think they should just make what looks like a trilogy or the 4th game to finish Aloy’s story before they start making the spin offs games.
7:10 I think, they just thought they can pull a ps2/DVD-Player / ps3-BlueRay-Player kind of combo with this, just for the digital/physicalless era. Not a dumb idea, just too early and arogantly dumb excecuted. Would the game pass had existed back than already (and the whole X cloud thing) it may have worked.
I guarantee you,100%, even if they still release the concord episode people will skip it anyways. Millions of dollars was also wasted on this one episode.
I still agree Concord would have done better if it was a Singleplayer game, atleast it can be a one and done kind of thing, but Multiplayer requires alot more stuff like Server Maintanece and the Live Service model adds even more too.
At least then it wouldn't be lost media, no matter how big of a failure it might've been we still need to preserve history so that we may learn from it
Team Fortress 2 had an already established player base AND viewer base with their Meet The Team videos on youtube, and Expiration Date was not good enough to greenlight a series, but apparently this trash was good enough.
Technically speaking team fortress two would have had a TV show and there were attempts made in order to make that a reality The only thing that really gotten the way was valve themselves and their unpredictable nature and lack of proper scheduling Or consistency in general when it comes to time frames
They should have had an entire mini series on Amazon Prime before even announcing the game. But I guess they were too busy running on narcissism and toxic positivity.
Someone who has played both the Horizon games, they are like a solid 7.5/10. They do look beautiful but the gameplay requires a generous amount of patience. But i dont understand them releasing multiple versions of it since no one is buying these games more than once.
I loved zero dawn from the start but they tanked my interest on franchise between inceasingly insufferable mary sue chosen one and pretty bad story and writing. Gameplay and world are the only positives at this point
Indeed. The story and the lore and vibe of the first game where amazing. Hfw completely changed all of that. It felt like a barely coherent soap opera you can see on daytime tv. Writing was, like with most AAA games These days, extremely childish and simple.
Strongly disagree. Aloy is an excellent character and her being the “chosen one” is perfectly explained through the lore , her genetics( literally descended from one of the most brilliant minds of that universe) and her back story. Both games are superb. Zero dawn had a tighter more cohesive story while Forbidden West is the better overall game with more to do.
The whole Horizon push is insufferable. You take what was already a pretty mid Ubisoft style open world game and try to shove it down your customer’s throat. “Look how cool and confident Aloy is. Buy more remasters.”
Not really, Jim Ryan was, he was that guy who green light to develop all those shitty live services games and stopped singleplayer games for few years.
Playstation has 2 ceos, and they were appointed THIS year. As of now, we're still dealing with the remnants of what jim ryan probably signed off on. Give it a year or 2 to pass judgment on the new ceos.
I think that episode is about that group of freelancers that disappeared years ago in the game’s lore……. Which is kind of a lame ass premise instead of …. I dunno showing off the main characters in the game??????
Did these idiots not learn anything from the 80s and 90s toys? You make the cartoon first, and then you release the toys when there is the demand. The toys by themselves didn't sell close to as much as when they were launched after a cartoon. So they should have had an animated show first, and then push out a game.
I love that episode, when the characters says "its Concording time!" damn, It was a movie of all time.
"They framed it as this amazing world with all of these interesting characters...but it's a hero shooter". I have been saying this about Overwatch for YEARS.
Yeah but the heroes of Overwatch don't look like the modern audience.
Exactly. A generic game can excel with a great roster, but the best game ever made wouldn't survive if it had Concord's roster of freaks.
@@buggart I mean, they kinda do lol they're just as generic looking to me as Concords.
True, though, the Honor and Glory short was kinda goated though, let's not lie.

an entire episode would've taken months to animate
It is a Star Wars level franchise. A Disney Star Wars level franchise
Disney Star Wars lasted longer than 2 weeks. So in a way that’s still a complement.

Idaf, having TV on my Xbox was great. and after they backtraced on the always online thing it was easier to share digital games than Sony for years.
HELL NAH with this
You know what is lost media is those animations they had planned. I’m sure they had at least two ready to go before the shut down

Even if the episode is excellent, aint NO ONE is buying the game.

the temerity!
Should’ve done an Uncharted episode
Now I want to play this game!!!!!!
I bet more people are going to watch the episode than who showed up for the game both beta and at launch put together.
The reason why the Lego Horizon Zero dawn game isn’t popping off is because it’s £50-£60 which is ridiculous. it should of been priced at £20-£35
