A brand literally reached out to me today! Talking about ‘We’ll pay you $300-$400 for 4 UGC videos + full usage rights’ 🙃 I’m so glad I checked my email today and got your notification!! Best creator ever!!👏🏾👏🏾
This is totally off-topic, but kudos to whoever edited this. Took a typically "boring" talking-head shot and make it feel engaging with all of the cuts and graphics. 👏👏👏
Concrete advices and recommendations, that is way I love this channel! Quick 2-part question: if there is a contract for 3 months and includes licensing, is it ok to be used as much as they want or just for the duration of the contract? After that, they should delete it or just not re-post, re-share?
@@CreatorWizard Thanks so much! We do a pretty decent job of getting comped attraction tickets, but not as much with accommodations or sponsorships and i realize that is because we still have a fairly small audience. We have only one sponsor so far--they approached us.
Boom! I now know what white listing is! I've heard you speak on this before but I wasn't sure what it was. This makes much more sense now. I appreciate the education.
This was very helpful! Thank you for saving me from a licensing/whitelisting disaster. Almost signed a contract for perpetual use of my NIL for a whopping $250 Lol It didn't feel right, so I searched and your video help me decide to say NO!
So here is follow up question on this: I'll have brands that send out products in hopes that I might showcase it on the channel. No money was exchanged, no deal brokered, in fact, I tell them that when they send a product, there is zero promise there product will ever make it into a video. Eventually a video goes live and in that video I talk about their product. The company loved the segment where I talked about their product and wants to license that footage. The 15% rule becomes difficult because there was no deal in the first place. I assume I just go off of the amount a deal "would have" cost?
Yes, that's a great way to look at it! Obviously, it's up to your discretion about how you structure a deal like that but you can definitely price it as if it was a custom deal from the start and capture the base deal size amount as well!
I do have a question for you. What if the brand also mentions that they will be using the whitelisted content throughout their social media channels as organic content? Should I also charge for each plateform that they will be featuring the content?
Typically in most deals we do, our whitelisting usage fee also includes any repurposing the brand wants to do across its socials as well (not an extra amount).
I just did a product review for a company on my youtube channel and they are paying me through an affiliate ink, but they now want to use my video for commercial use to run ads and use it on their website. Should I be charging for them to do this?
I really appreciate that man!! Glad it was helpful. I also have a weekly newsletter where I share sponsorship opportunities! Check it out CreatorWizard.com/join
Happy it was helpful! What I teach in my course is that the single most important thing to ask a brand is "What is the goal of this campaign?" Their answer should change your rates significantly!
I posted a story on my own accord about a product I actually like. They asked me to use the story post for ads…given that they didn’t pay me to create that content how would I come up with pricing to charge them?
Great question! Two perspectives here 1) you could still charge them AS IF the video had been sponsored 2) you could consider the video a sunk cost and just charge them only the whitelisting/licensing fees. I typically prefer the former.
Question! What if it’s a video that I made on my own, no brand deal, and the brand reaches out and says they would like to whitelist a video that they didn’t pay me for in the first place? I’m reading 4-5% of whatever they put behind the advertising online but I’m not sure!

Thank you that was so helpful. What if a creator stole your content and used it without your consent and you can prove that you created it? I would have had to sign something giving TH-cam permission right?
In my opinion, if they are paying you to create custom content already, extending organic usage rights to repost on their page (for a limited duration) should just be included in your rate (not extra). Def should charge for it though if they want to run paid ads or if they just contacted you after seeing an organic post of yours and want to repurpose it.
@@CreatorWizard Thank you so much for the response! So so helpful!! In this case I would be creating content for the brand. The organic usage rights would be across IG, Facebook and Tiktok. From your experience, what duration period is typically negotiated for such content?
How did you come up with the $1,000? Is it based on followers? I had a brand ask me to make a video, not posted to my IG, only used for their ads. I know I undercharged. I have 88K IG followers. How should I calculate that in the future? Thank you! Subscribed!
What would you recommend I charge for licensing a TikTok video that went viral? A content video blog with 38M followers on IG reached out and offered $50 for licensing rights for them to post on their social media pages. Should I still charge them the 15% of my normal rate a month? (This would be about $900/month) Thank you!
Since the content clearly is compelling, there's a good chance it will perform very well on the other entity's handles and pages as well. So I'd prob look to align my rate with how well you assess your content will do on THEIR page. Look at average views they get, extrapolate that relative to how many views you got on your page, etc and then use that figure to calculate the licensing fee. Hope this helps!

Just for duration of agreement. No new usage after term but can keep anything up they posted during term 👍
