This movie was fucking shit. The only reason it's decent is because the source material is amazing. The pacing dropped to a boring hault once they reach the forest and they ruined the mall scene. They didn't show how fucked up the group at the mall was and they made sango into some cheap comic relief?? The sexist creep that would beat oda-san if she talked back. In the movie hideos dumbass chooses to fight what is obviously 100+ zombies with 96 shells left in a closed off parking lot? Oda-san was downgraded into a lame ass person that needed to be saved by hideo when she is the one that ends up saving his ass and hiroki by getting to the car she was hiding from the rapist mall group. The movie wasn't even good as a movie and the only redeeming part was the little it took from the manga
i remember looking for a very good zombie manga years ago since highschool of dead was cancelled. and then i look all throughout this list then i found this manga titled I am Hero. the art style is pretty neat so i gave it a shot and then damn it was only 3 chapters published back then but damn the story build up is intensely good and the art style fits the plot line very well. one of the best zombie manga of all time.
I followed it for so long I remember reading the last chapter and just sitting there in silence. Sad that the relationship had come to an end. It's a top tier manga for me. I enjoyed it, I want to watch the movie never have but I will.

Idk they left a lot of important questions unanswered like the rebirth cycle in Spain and what happens next with the hive. He's one of my favourite main characters too, I'm glad they didn't copy Hideo's entire personality 1-for-1 from the manga (Manga Hideo is more of a degenerate than a kindhearted loser like the one in the movie is), movie Hideo is way better, very flawed guy but good hearted nonetheless

Hideo's a bit thinner in the movie, I guess, but other than that, he still resembles his manga counterpart. Iura really looks like his manga version, so does Sango to some extent. Sango in the movie was dumbass comic relief but in the manga he is a sexist rapist neet that takes hideos gun and gets killed instantly. Oda-san hides her car keys and saves the girl by escaping to her car only to meet a creepy masterbating zqn Iura. Hideo runs and guns as a hoard slowly reaches him and the guy with him jumps off the bridge 5 secs before oda San rescues him. This movie was a boring disgrace to the manga

Pakorn Wattanavrangkul I'm disappointed by the lack of structure and imagination in this movie. It's only redeeming qualities are the little it took from the source material. The pacing is shit and they downgrade the intensity that you feel when reading the manga. It's not even good as a zombie movie. Specially when the manga transcends the zombie genre and turns into a horror survival Sci fi with the hive mind and fusion zombies
Please bring this to America, no recasting, no deviating from the source material, and no Brad Pitt keep him the way he is in the movie/manga, world war z could've been better if they did the story in Yonkers NY incident.
I literally just watched this movie in the middle of the night because I was waiting for the next chapters in the official manga. This movie was like.. refreshing. It still has that adaption tone to it which is great. Visually? Its a goddamn blood feast. The sounds are crisp too and it makes you feel that "push" when Hideo just shoots his double barrel shotgun. There are high quality videos that are free because it was released recently into Blu-Ray and DVDs in Japan and internationally. Shame it only covered 2/6 of the story, but two hours is enough and might as well be the limit in the film production. If you never read the "I am a Hero" manga, this could be a introducing view point of the series. But it may not have everything in the manga because of tight story boarding which is fine. So read the manga first or watch the movie first then read the manga, it's up to you. Overall, this movie was fucking lit! If there's a sequel to it... I highly doubt it, but you never know. That'd be dope as fuck. Thank you Director Sato for filming this manga adaption into life :D
