He does an adequate job defensively and I never question his effort in that regard but he's not quick so many of the big defensive plays you see him make are easier outs with less dramatics by premiere first baseman. Again.....he tries hard defensively..... but he's not a Grade A defender...... still a big fan of his though.

I think any team would have chosen to wait, given the next game is literally minutes away.
