This is the fist time I've commented on a video. This isn't a sad comment but a celebratory comment. My aunt and I watch your content regularly. She passed away Thursday at 53 and I wanted to thank you for being such an inspiration to the both of us. Its the holiday carving season and she told me to never stop carving. She will be missed but I have dozens of Linker style carvings to remember her by. So again, thank you for all that you do. You touch lives my friend.
How lovely💚🇬🇧🌱 best wishes x
Keep carving and honor her memory with new carving you do.And sorry for your loss.
Great video- I never get board- feel free to do both sides of carving on video. You are the Bob Ross of wood carving! Thanks!
I would love to have a whole Christmas tree coverd with them
So uncle Doug is saying…it’s time to do it…christmas carvings😂❤
The carving world is so lucky to have your inspiration, and expertise. Thanks
Looks fantastic Doug. I just started carving a few weeks ago. Stumbled across your videos and made a little trip to Lee Valley the next day! Doing some of the 1x1s right now. Thanks for your great videos and for introducing me to my new hobby!
He is a fantastic instructor I have been watching him for 10 years when he was bushcrafting .
He's also a great bloke! I've learnt far more than carving from Mr Linkers videos & I've seen them all...💚🇬🇧🌱
Woah crazy timing. Morning Doug! Glad to see the creativity flowing!
Fantastic carving. I carved several moon’s from your video and did add a Santa. I learned a lot from this video. Thank you!
I started following you little tutorials for a few years now for some hand therapy exercise. I gave my family some of these santas this year and they loved them! I appreciate your time and effort in bringing such joy to others have a fantastic 2024 x
Loving all the videos, you are by far the easiest carver to follow. Thanks for all you do!
Watching your videos is therapy for me.
Another fantastic video Doug you are truly inspirational in my wood carving world. Cheers from Calgary
Great video Doug lots of info, would love a video on hair thatw would be great
Doug with a glove! I never thought I'd get to see that 😂but I can see the necessity for it. ❤
A great lesson that wasn't discussed, but was shown through the natural course of the video... if your project slips out of your hands, just let it drop. Don't try to catch it, especially when you have a knife in your opposite hand. Thank you for another great video @dougLinker!
I just want to say, I’ve been watching you for a year now, and I’m glad you show the measurements. I appreciate the fact that things are not perfect, but it’s nice to follow along with a like sized piece of wood. Knowing the size of block that you are using is so helpful! Keep it up Bob, I mean Doug!
Thanks Doug, I never get bored learning from you!
Thanks Doug. Very good tutorial!
I really appreciate you taking us along on this carving! Turned out very nice!
Cheers!

Definitely a great one to learn the grain with. Thanks again for another great lesson mine came out way better then I ever thought I could do
I really enjoy watching your videos. You are the Bob Ross of carving.
These are absolutely gorgeous! I loved the other moon video you did and it's awesome to see you doing the Santa version. Thanks Doug! I've learned so much from you and I can't thank you enough for all you do for the woodcarving community.
Forgot about these ones . Will have to catch up on the to do list. Thanks for sharing your talents.😁🏴
🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅 Thanks Doug
Thanks Doug for all your great videos. I used your code and I have 2 wood carving illustrateds in my library! Great magazine! I might make this moon Santa for my wife
Good one Doug and I seen the little advertisement for you in my new woodcarving illustrated.
Fantastic. Thanks Doug. This is a next year project for me. ❤
WoW! Very nice carvings and great design idea! These might be my favorite out of all your carvings. I like the wood spirits a lot too.
Love this festive idea Doug, thanks for the tutorial.
Nice design, I'm always looking for something different to carve. Thanks Doug.
Love it!..definitly trying this thanks for sharing...you make it look easy 😊
Awesome as usual!!! Great idea to remind us to look at previous videos. We go back all the time. Also, recently found a banana hanger at the thrift store and it also works for displaying carvings.
Thank you Doug.I will do some for Christmas won't be like yours but I am learning all the time. Julien
Love the birds, love the flat plane style, and love your simple, effective teaching technique!
I think you moved on so hopefully you don’t see birds in this video but thanks lol
@@dougLinker guess I shouldn’t try to text with a carving knife in my hand. Ha. Thx!!
Thank you Doug.
There amazing Mr Doug !
Great video as always, a video on beard would be awesome!

Hey Mr. :-)
When are you going through publish a book??...genre
"Beginners Guide to Carving wood."
I'd be a buyer !

I ordered my magazine to go with my coffee
Another fun carving doug, oiling the finished santa really brings it to life. Merry Christmas from your fans in the uk😊
Great video! 👍 Could you possibly do a turkey for Thanksgiving next? 🦃
Smooth versus harsh line for hair...my struggle!!
У вас прекрасные видео)
Hi Doug,
Listening to one of your carving programs. You recently mentioned Circa 1850 Terra Nova Natur Oil. You mentioned another wood carver had introduced you to this oil.
I order a bottle possibly will be here tomorrow.
If you wouldn’t mind would you share with me how you plan to use the oil on one of your carvings.
I have been using uncut BLO.
Thanks for your time.
It’s all covered in the painting video i just did
Help -Well mr. linker I’ve become a fan! Your works of art are great .
So I watched your what tools do I need video. You are right I have been out of work for over a year now due to bad injury . So I started caring, very addicting.
So to save money I started making Santa ornaments, much inspired watching you.
You are right , I can’t buy a bunch of tools ! So if I was going to just buy two , one U gouge and one V tool for finishing the beard eyebrows and stash . What two would you recommend???
I have one knife like and 1” and one about 1” .
Like you said I can work with little
I have just want two for detail work !
And don’t want to end up with a wall full I’ll never use
Thanks
3:23 You're in the magazine! Bottom-right corner
I keep hearing of your "Tip Jar." Where is it? I really enjoy your videos and they help me greatly.
People just use the super chat function here on youtube -thanks
I'm pretty new, I have made all of your 1x1s and Santas.
I decided to tackle this one, but I may have screwed up. I went and roughed out 5 moon shapes but, I cut them out in the wrong direction of wood grain, they are 90° off, so the face will be on end grain.
Should I even bother trying to carve these?
I Use A Rotary Tool To Do
Power Carving. Could I Do
It That Way?
These are cute. Question Doug have you done any 1x1 toy soldiers for Xmas ornaments? If not maybe you could?
7:14 mins Oh look, you could also make a Banana Man )
😁👍🏼
Ok help? I tried this and on both pieces of wood when i tried to cut the eye sockets the wood just splintered away and destroyed what would have been the nose. So 2 scrap pieces of wood and no santas this year. Any ideas why it happened? I have you video up following it step by step. The only way forward i can see is power carving this with a Dremel tool when i can source some more wood.
Looking for a good tutorial for carving a satan with awesome horns.
The vegan meat alterative? Weird...
Hey Doug, fun carving again, but what is the name of the metal things you hang the moon on up.
ornament display holder is called on Amazon
How many knives and chisels do you use for your work?
All of them💚🇬🇧🌱 depending on the job he's doing... Pretty sure his last video was all a about this... Search his back catalogue it's vast & informative...
How come there is never any blood?
When I carve there is always blood! 🙄🏴
😂me too💚🇬🇧🌱
💚🇬🇧🌱
Soooo, I’m a girl and I wood like to see the half moon carved in a feminine form. I like your vids, but they are all male figures.
may be look in a mirror while your carving and use your features as reference it's only a slightly different couple of angles here & there, practice...💚🇬🇧🌱
