    The lights are a simple power and ground setup, simply find a fuse under the hood that has power when the ignition is on and tap into it with an add a circuit tap, then find a good ground and the lights will turn on every time the ignition does.

    I bought the same exact headlights as you on my 2007 Chevy Silverado classic. I also bought the rear lights for my truck as well all LEDs I changed all the stock bulbs out for LED lights and I tell you it makes a big difference. I even changed out my fog lights to LEDs in the bottom as well. I love it it makes the truck look newer and cleaner. They're nice lights.

    I’m sure other comments mention this, but on my 2005 Silverado the DRL are off when in the park position. They are on in all other drive settings. Before going too crazy I’d recommend others stick the truck in drive and put on the parking break and verify if they are now on or off before diving into rewiring.

    If you want the led strips to light up like the DRLs then you tap into the DRL wire. Also you can do the fuse box light mod to have them on all the time lights on high beam or low beam or during the day. Also they look funny with the regular halogen bulbs and led strips. Will Phillips this is because he is wired into the corner light. When you turn on your parking lights, this turns off the DRL circuit. In the ‘auto’ setting, the DRL bulb (inner bulb) would be the only bulb illuminated. In this video, he has the headlight switch in the parking lamp setting. The lower housing (turn signal/DRL) is designed to operate as a function of the turn signal. The upper portion (low/high beam) is designed to tap into your DRL circuit. Obviously, you can wire it any way you choose. Most of these video creators are just choosing to tap into the corner marker circuit.

  • @zacharyg.mosier5607
    @zacharyg.mosier5607 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    You could have just run a jumper wire from your positive wire you wired in for the led strip to your DRL
    Then you could have had them on in auto once it would go into drive and when your drl's kicked off at night and lights kicked on they would be on

  • @JKZ103

    I am so-o-o glad you did this demo of the DRL hookup and the wire taps .... I just got similar but a different brand of headlight and bumper lights, so I'm hoping there won't be moisture problems. I was guessing I would have to tap the actual OEM DRL lights much like you did with the corner 194 bulb marker lights that you did. My Silverado is an 03. I've ordered Sealight 6000 lumen head lights which are cool white light. My factory fog lights were added from an 05 Avalanche bumper and valance with the fogs after I hit a deer. Bright lights for avoiding "unauthorized deer crossings" is a necessity in Tennessee!

      Yes! No moisture in the headlights. I bought some precut protective film and put that on them so they won’t get rock chips or fade as fast

    So if you wire these into the DRL, shouldn’t it run on auto?

    If you splice the DRL works into the regular daytime running lights, they will automatically come on in the daytime.

      I know how to do electrical but how should I wire them in? Like the ones I have have a black wire and a white wire. And on the factory wires it is a black and a blue one. Should I wire the black wires to the black one and the white wires to the blue one?

      @@tommylogan8480 Couldn't tell you specifically which wire is which, but if you know anything about electrical then you should know how to use a multimeter so just take one and then figure out which of those wires is ground and which is hot.

      I bought these about 2 years ago and I had zero moisture issues with mine. I just got done replacing them because the halogen bulbs get them too hot and fade them and crack them sooner than later. So I just did LEDS and we’ll see how it goes. ( I also parked in direct sunlight for 1 1/2 years) that didn’t help. They do scratch pretty easy, maybe a coating will help, I’m going to be doing one soon to help with UV and scratches.

      I did the same way as this, and mine blink at night.
      not sure what could have happened during your install.
      But my question for you is, do your DRL work now with these installed? Because i just noticed mine don't work anymore. I'm guessing Because i tapped into my DRL.
      i didn't think that would cause this issue.
      I've had them installed for about 3 weeks now.

    If the turn signal light is lit at all times, when you go to actually engage the turn signal, does it still alternate with the corner light? If so, do the DRLs turn on and off as well?

      It's a dual filament bulb. The flaw however with this design is that (if you look closely) the lower housing in a non reflective black. That means that the turn signal and running light bulbs don't project properly. I hate that about mine.

    Or you could just wire the driving lights to the factory driving lights wiring and the using the driving light bulbs for another amber bulb and wiring those into the turn signal wiring.

    How have these been holding up? I’ve been seeing mixed reviews about the LED light strips burning out and the housings fogging up. Do you have any input?

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Matthew Hargroder so far they’ve been good. I guess I got lucky. I’ll check again tomorrow and let you know if the LEDs look faded or burned out. If I don’t follow up then they are still good! I was prepared to reseal then in case they let moisture in but they are doing fine. I bought clear vinyl to protect them from rock chips and fading from UV

      The reason why they burn is because they’re plugged in incorrectly
