The OnePlus 10 pro was the biggest shock for me, everyone has been saying oneplus has gone down hill and doesn't have that underdog performance like it used to, but, as a OP9Pro user, the performance of their phones are still great, and the OP10Pro getting over 8hrs Screen on Time is impressive

I remember like 2 years ago iPhones were always the first phones to be out of battery in these kind of tests so I must say while I do prefer Android Apple is doing impressive stuff when it comes to battery life.
We really are at a point where for most people it doesn't matter what phone you get. Every year different phones will just slightly overtake each other in certain areas but really it just comes down to what ecosystem you want. As a pc user, I don't see myself making the switch to apple, I'm lucky I like android OS.
While they should've always last the longest... It was such an embarrassment that knowing they are first to get all app optimizations etc and every android was beating them... Knowing also that androids ate way more power hungry etc

75 celsius? Holy crap, almost as hot as a usual day in Australia! Jokes aside, that thing is a fire hazard. Imagine how hot could it get while you play an intense game on it when the phone is charging.
@radafus link It can be a good thing to not throttle the CPU ever but if the cooling is not there you get more trouble than good, the hotter the CPU the lower the performance anyways. And you need gloves for this 75C (167F) can cause second degree burns not to mention that lithium battery which also likes to expand/explode at these temperatures.

@@bubamileva true it isnt a reason to drop the phone, but they know whats better for them and maybe they value the extra 2 or so hours the iphone gives them. Different ppl look for different things in a phone
It only proves how gullible, naïve, and insecure you are. 1 hour on samsung gives you 7 hours. 2 hours on iphone gives you 8. By time both are discharged, you get that hour back quicker, when you need it on the samsung. And that is far more useful. As needing anything beyond 6 hours usually means you charge both at least once during the day. And if you are stretching to just about 8 hours, the poor battery life of iphones will quickly within a few months degrade to where you are at 6 hours 30 minutes. Given the fact it's all custom, actually proves how poor it actually is. With the slowest file transfer around, the slowest charging around, and the worst design screen to body ratio the design, and limited functionality of the iPhone is evident. There is no "best" phone. "The benefits of customized software " Without the benefit of being able to customize nearly anything of course.
Yeah my iPhone 13 mini has decent SOT battery life when used stationary, but standby time leaves a lot to be desired and only gets worse when bringing it around. Battery tests in the past used to include a reasonable standby time to overall mimic real world usage.
Gotta say, being a 13 Pro Max user, I never bother looking at those TH-cam battery charge tests with a 150w warp charge because the 13 Pro series iPhones simply don't need a rapid charger more than 25 to 30w. Now when the 14 Pro gets released with hopefully are larger battery and improved 6nm 5G modems I reckon they will probably get 11 hours screen on time. Please apple please.... a USB-C or TB4 port like the iPad Pro 5th gen and you will make us sooo happy.

It's been great since the XR (except fot the Minis and the SE). Apple is really on a different league when it comes to optimization. And this is all with a 'smaller' battery than the competition.
the best battery saving feature the iphone has is it goes to FHD most of the time and it has full control of its panel's frame rate lowering it when it is not needed. Android should follow suit tbh because aside from gaming, people won't really notice the difference.
My Bru, this is the best battery drain test video I have seen. Good on you for adding Temps to the testing as it is a Major factor for the longevity of any smart phone battery as well. Been rocking my s22 ultra for a week now, no regrets.
Have you seen your battery life improve? My S22U was giving me roughly 6.5 hours the first week as it learned and adjusted, and now is giving me between 7.5 and 8.5 hours consistently 2 weeks later
@@LetsDIYIt yes definitely, initially I was abit concerned because I thought the battery was draining a little to quick then it really improved to the point where it's the most efficient flagship I have yet owned. Getting about 8hrs SOT.
Huawei P20 Pro 2 years in the use: battery still lasted 2 days for me. Samsung Galaxy Note 10: Had to recharge the battery daily, from day 1! And for the Huawei I didn't even watch out to not stress it too much. It was charging overnight and things like that. Huawei charged full speed with EVERY USB-C cable and played music through ANY USB-C to 3.5 mm adapter. Note 10 doesn't load full speed unless you are using an original Samsung cable - so using a longer cable on the original charger still slows it down so it takes twice as long. USB-C to 3.5 mm adapters also don't work if not original... So yeah, selling chargers and cables seperately is TOTALLY about saving ressources, when they won't allow you to use stuff you already own, so you don't have to buy it all new... 😉

@@vitaliibraslavets so should be the current pixel phones (Tensor chip) for obvious reasons, i mean if we are talking about the hard/software being made by the same manufacturer.
I think the new chipset will be even more efficient, i saw at test where the 8gen1 uses 12 w snd iphone stayed st 5 watt, even tho is 5 nm vs 4 nm its faster. Apple bionic chips are years ahead.
Frankly it doesn't get much better than that. We would need major technological change or enlargement of the battery to achieve it. We know so far that A16 will be based on 5nm again. So same architecture in 3 generations but better optimized and streamlined So we would see around 10% efficiency gain if everything is the same. A15 has 5nm like A13 on 12 series but the iPhone aside from the around 10% improvement in efficiency we got much larger batter from 3687 to 4352 so a lot bigger. If there are no major upgrades with 14 series in terms of performance of the boost is around 10-15% the battery improvement would be 10% efficiency or less than that if there are any changes on the battery
As an Android Fan, I absolutely am amazed how Apple optimized their OS with their hardware in the new 13. They did an incredible job on this phone probably the best phone they ever released

Really bummed about the Pixel 6 Pro. I had to upgrade from a Pixel 4a 5g after it bricked itself one day. That phone lasted forever. I often went well into the next day without any charging. By the end of day 2, it was around 15%. I don't think the battery ever actually died on me for the 2 years I owned the phone. I averaged 9 hours SOT, often pushing 10 hours. My Pixel 6 Pro has a beautiful screen and feels very snappy, takes amazing pics, but I do find myself having to charge it at the end of the day, and a few times I've gone to sleep with it at 12% and it's dead by morning, having sat idle for 7-8 hours. I average about 6 hours SOT with it which is still great by phone standards, but definitely feels like a downgrade coming from the Pixel 4a 5g.
It's pretty weird for me to hear you sing such high praises of the 4a's battery life as my brother owns the same phone and complains about that same thing.
Great video Nick! iPhone's battery life improvements are so good! Gone are the days of awful battery life... Letting Jony Ive go was probably the best move Apple did... But we need better balance between form and function, the Max variant is simply too awkward and big 😖

Apple has a lot of experience designing and optimizing the CPU, while Google unfortunately has no such experience other than some accessory chips. I associate the new Tensor chip with the huge overheating and optimization errors. While Google has some talented people in their team, they still lack experience compared to Apple in hardware manufacturing.
As a die hard pixel fan, I wish. But the way they're headed right now, the answer is no. If they want that chance, they'll need to actually do more design and switch to a TSMC fab. The Samsung fabrication processes are too inefficient, as is the chip designs they're choosing. TSMC and a better silicon architecture is why the apple phones will continue to dominate until someone actually follows suit and tries doing the same. I hope for everyone's sake that it's Google who does that

@TOM It was supposed to be 30% more efficicient than the S21U according to Samsung $2 billion marketing campaign. Yet a year old phone with degraded battery beat it! That is very bad. Once GOS is disabled tests have showed it will use 33% more battery in games so that SoT will fall even further. Samsung has big issues with efficiency as being beaten by the One+ 10P proves.
interesting vid/comparison, thanks for putting in the work for it! Why are you testing them sim-free though? Wouldn't it be closer to real life situations to test them with cellular? Is it perhaps because different SIM cards or phone plans can drain different amounts of battery?
The iPhone just Wow, 32% better battery life in a 14.8% smaller battery with LTPO 1.0 tech and a 5nm older chipset while having no vapor cooling tech and staying the coolest Absolute carnage🔥🔥🔥

@tara chandra it’s not the iphone’s fault that the other phones have unnecessarily high resolution lol. Beside that the iphone has a smaller battery than the rest as well. Excuses.
Amazing result from Oppo and OP, their colorOS optimization was very good with some opportunities for the newest Oppo. With higher resolution than Apple, OP was very good as Android side. But this isn't the final, I'm curious about the upcoming Snapdragon 8 gen 1 plus efficiency, maybe it will deliver better result at android side.

Usually charge my iphone every 2 days with 11-16% left. I don’t use it often considering I only get an average sot of 6hrs spread in those 2 days. But I’m very impressed with its standby time. I cannot get to those figures with my previous android device. I’m pretty happy that I made the switch from android to ios. Yes iphone would charge slower, but it just suits me fine. I prefer charging once every 2 days rather than to charge every single day wearing out the life span of my phone’s battery.
the latest batteries life has nothing to do with the number of times you plug the cable in. it is call charging cycle. charging cycle is a lot bigger when you charge under 20% or over 85%. the way you charge it kill off the battery faster than you charging it everyday but only bring it up to 85%, which there is a setting you can set in an android phone... or a Tesla.
Great video all in all, but I think one thing that's important for this test as well is charge time, especially with the OnePlus warp charge (probably also the reason it had the highest temperature during charging too) because you can plug in the OnePlus at 20% and 15-20 minutes later it's at 85-90% where most the other phones here would take an hour and a half to get that. I have the OnePlus 9T and it's amazing on battery life and charge times.
I made this comment before I saw the charge test video, the IQ9 and the Xiaomi blew my mind with 15 minutes for a full charge that's insane. Idk if the OnePlus 10 charges differently than my 9T but definitely seemed slower
This comparison really got me subscribe because it doesn’t only compared the battery life based on the current capacity of the batteries but also adjusting them if they have the same mAh, and the computation of the capacity consumption per minute.
Did you consider screen frequency? The Iphone panel has a 120Hz maximum refresh rate and can vary it between 12 different values going all the way down to 10Hz depending on content and user interaction.
Maybe u should have also added the s22 ultra's predecessor to the test so Samsung can see for themselves how significantly the s21 ultra does better in terms of battery 😃😀
I'm not an apple user, not for the lack of trying, but I am jealous of the battery life. I hope manufacturers start focusing on this area more as phones used to last over a week when I was young and now very few last more than a day.
@@jphuwae4505 I think he want to meant if SoC has same architecture as higher end ones and it's weaker than them, it would consume less battery. Nowadays midrange phones with big batteries are the ones who has best durable battery times because they're weak and don't consume lot of power as powerful ones.

With the slowest file transfer around, the slowest charging around, and the worst design screen to body ratio
the design, and limited functionality of the iPhone is evident. There is no "best" phone.
"The benefits of customized software " Without the benefit of being able to customize nearly anything of course.

Because use QHD lol

Use your pixel 6 pro like a 4a 5g,it will last like 4a 5g,set the refresh rate to 60hz for example.
It's pretty weird for me to hear you sing such high praises of the 4a's battery life as my brother owns the same phone and complains about that same thing.

No
Apple has a lot of experience designing and optimizing the CPU, while Google unfortunately has no such experience other than some accessory chips.
I hope for everyone's sake that it's Google who does that
@@Rix317 What? Bro they have one of the most powerful computers, they have quantum computing, HUGE server database with an amazing team of hw and sw team.

I'm not an apple user, not for the lack of trying, but I am jealous of the battery life. I hope manufacturers start focusing on this area more as phones used to last over a week when I was young and now very few last more than a day.
That iPhone 13 Pro Max sustains punishment 😲 it simply REFUSES to die.
Its interesting to see how apple gives you this battery life with just 4350mah battery.
the secret is in the processor

@@muhdizai apples phone never had low specs lol they literally the king in SOC ? What you on about ? A16 Bionic will obliterate all
@@jphuwae4505 I think he want to meant if SoC has same architecture as higher end ones and it's weaker than them, it would consume less battery. Nowadays midrange phones with big batteries are the ones who has best durable battery times because they're weak and don't consume lot of power as powerful ones.
For example according to GSMArena's tests:
Xiaomi 11T Pro (5000 mAh & Snapdragon 888): 14 hours of video playback
Sony Xperia 10 IV (5000 mAh & Snapdragon 695): 32 hours of video playback
iPhone 13 Pro Max (4352 mAh & A15 Bionic): 24 hours of video playback
The last 2 generations of iPhones have been turning the table when it comes to smartphone battery life 😍
the OS did well... it would be nice if they are open source.
Skip 888 and 8G1, wait for 8G1+ and Dimenisty 9000, they will be more efficient.
2:30 Mark is it just me or did the iPhone get a much easier run for a good 5minutes
Can’t take anything away from Apple, these guys know how to make chips.
yea.. iPhone 12 pro max was great on battery😂🙄.. it sucked I had it..

iPhone 13 Pro max lead the way, props to Apple Inc for their efficient SoC
Don't forget TSMC, they are a significant reason why they are so efficient.
iphone supports like 10 apps in 120fps mode
It is to be expected because the symbiosis and resource management of the iPhone is far above any other Smartphone
Also it much more efficient, i saw a test where iphone bionic uses 5 w vs 8gen1 used 12 w thats a huge differense
@@Randomdude21-e OnePlus did pretty good tho! But for some reason last 15% doesn't last too long
Would be nice to see it again with the same display resolution on each device, because iPhone has just QHD compared to WQHD in other phones and we know that it can make a big difference. Thanks!
QHD is the exact same as WQHD. Its just a different name. But yes, IPhone’s screen is worse, but I just wanted to correct the terms. :D
screen size also bigger screen could potnetially mean more power
Would change nothing, because iPhone with higher resolution would have bigger battery and would change nothing!

My note 20 ultra lasts 10 hours 36 minutes battery life with a single charge. 😲 🤯
Few months ago i bought note 20 ultra Snapdragon variant. I saw many TH-cam comparison videos with iPhone and it was a big disappointment when iPhone 12 & 13 pro max wins the battery battle with heavy margin. Yesterday i decided to test my device battery life and charged my battery 100% and surprisingly it lasts 10+ (screen on time) freaking hours. (normally i charge my device from 20% to 80%)
Bruh these are continuous testing without brakes, in real life usage all the phones obviously last more than what is shown here. Even my $150 android lasts 10 hrs on normal usage, on continuous use it dies in 3-4 hrs.
i do have iphone 13 pro max as well
it last two days dude but these channels made it 9 hours😂☹️
@@Claudiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa i am talking about SCREEN ON TIME bro. For a single charge my note 20 ultra lasts for a whole day and few hours. Let's say it lasts 26 hours from 100% to 0% and the SOT was 10 hours 35 minutes.

Hello, I'm from India and I've almost finished watching all of your videos . All mobiles are very expensive, and I can't afford them, but I keep watching your videos ☺️
I've always bought Android but you have to hand it to Apple, so consistently amazing with their battery and optimization.
yesss this. The argument i also see from android users is, iphone is more expensive, worse quality and slower, yet they beat the 22 ultra, which is 1299 compared to 1099 for iphone, in both speed, battery life and heat management. Only thing i will give to the s22 ultra is that 10x optical zoom with the periscope. Even though i have never felt the need for that much zoom :)
