I think in terms of a journey of tastes in art, my music journey is my favourite. It started with my brother being really into ambience which rubbed off on me, then it progressed into loving bedroom pop (Fox Academy). Which then lead me to Jerry Paper (a synth Jazz artist who stated in ambience), which then allowed me the chance to listen to Yasuaki Shimizu's album Kakashi, One of my all time favourite albums! From there it's been one beautiful soft Japanese album after another and I couldn't be happier! This album breathes beauty and peace.
What was your Journey to this music? I'd love to hear the chain of events that lead you here!

What you do is listen to every album of a certain genre/time period until you find the good ones. It is really a lot like torture, because most of what you find is terrible. You go through long stretches where you find nothing good and you begin to wonder why you're even doing it. Then you find something truly special and it makes it all worthwhile. And what happens next is that once you find something truly special, it generally comes in a group. Good music is connected to other good music, so once you find something good, if you check the artist, record label, and related music, you will often find many albums and eps of great music that is similar. It's like searching for sunken treasure in the ocean: you spend 1000 hours finding nothing, then suddenly a huge amount of treasure all at once. The most important part of being a record digger is to share the gems when you find them because most people don't have the patience or time to dig through 1000 records to find the 20-30 that are amazing. I see it as a form of public service, but some people do it as a profession. It's called curation in the art world, but I come from the vinyl record world and we call it digging.
