I saw this and was so excited, tried it a couple times but didn’t get a pop. Was sad but thought maybe it wasn’t for me. Sat on a lower surface (edge of my bed) and out of curiosity tried the forearm portion one more time. Tiny but definitely audible click. Didn’t really feel anything but when I stood up multiple other parts of my leg clicked and decompressed so I’m really hopeful I’ll feel better tomorrow!! Thank you so much for posting this ❤

Having to use a wheelchair for transportation is like sitting in a chair for hours without ever being able to stand up or stretch. And even when you’re home and don’t need to use it…you still can’t stand up and move. If you’ve ever been on a roadtrip you know how uncomfortable it is to never stop at rest stops just to stand up. I’m grateful I only have to use my wheelchair for things that involve a lot of walking and not 24/7. It’s awful.

Joints always feel better after popping, it has something to do with the shock causing your body to release a pain masking chemical. It's like a miniature trauma, like if you get in a car reck your body doesn't actually let you feel the full extent of the pain for quite some time. So when you pop a joint you're just getting temporary relief from the chemicals released.

In my understanding, we're not: the SIJ barely moves whatsoever, you have real problems if you get laxity in the ligaments of the joint.
You get painful sensations and stiffness in the SIJ if the femurs and pelvis aren't behaving, because it picks up the slack for the shifting and movement they're supposed to have.
If I'm not mistaken, the *pops* from this sort of thing are from displacing fluid in the various joints when bones/connective tissues move to fill space. Namely, felt at the femoral-acetabular (hip) joint, not at the SIJ itself.

Try sitting on a lower surface. Like, I tried this on the edge of my bed but it didn't work because I think my bed is too high. I sat outside on my patio steps, skipped a step from where I was sitting & put my feet flat on that next step & tried it again & it worked wonderfully. Since then I've been doing this a few times a day, especially after I wake up in the morning & always get relief. I even got added clicks & relief by twisting my lower back while doing the forearm part.

“Popping” or “cracking” your back does not realign it, nor does it solve the underlying issue. You’re experiencing lower back pain because you most likely have weak glutes and/or hip flexors. Any pain relief you’re experiencing from this video’s technique is likely coming from the resistance motions rather than the supposed aligning motions. The resistance portions of this maneuver- where you’re resisting the opening and closing of your legs- are activating your glute muscles, which work to move your hips. Focus on strengthening those muscles and you will eliminate your pain for good.

Should we alternate the arm we place between our knees in order to work both sides? Practicing this more slowly and a holding a little longer seems to increase effectiveness. Focus on working on spinal stability exercises, stretching might actually be making your pain worse

A few years ago I had this problem and this particular exercise helped to fix it, also I stop working and not sitting for long hours also helped.

A position i use to decompress my spine is to lay your chest on the bed with your legs left out touching the floor. Then, just release or relax your hip. You're gonna feel pain at first, but that's normal.

  • @gary7708

Another way that works well for me...
From a standing position, put something under your foot on the side of the problem hip that is about 1-2 inches tall.
Squat down and up several times to loosen the joint.
Slide your fingers down into the area of your upper butt crack. (You can do this on the outside of your clothes to keep everything clean. ;-) )
    Squeeze your buttocks together.
You should feel a very good cracking/adjusting/popping as the hips and sacrum reset.
Note - you are using your fingers as the fulcrum around which the squeezing/clenching of the buttocks can cause the joint to be pulled away from each other, thus allowing the joint to reset.
Note 2 - Sometimes the fingers and clenching work by themselves, but I have found that the squats with the problem side elevated gives an almost 100% success rate to this self adjustment.
Note 3 - If you sit at a desk for long periods of time and your hips keep "going out", use a belt around your knees to hold them together at a comfortable distance. This will help keep them from slipping out of joint.
Hopefully this comment will get the attention of the Dr. so she can investigate the method and do a video on this technique I have described. It has completely changed my life to be able to reset the hips without waiting for a chiroprator appointment.
    Dr. Doctor,
Thank you so much for sharing this techinique in your video. ☺

@@tiffanymills3277 the way I was taught was to lay on my back and put something large like an exercise ball between my knees and then squeeze the ball. Sometimes I will also follow by putting something skinnier between my knees and squeezing it. Then I push my knees together from the outside, using my hands, and push back against my hands. That seems to reset things for me.
