Nah it was better than Crapcony for sure, that whole arc was cryptic and predictable for no reason. That writer better stick to HI3 and not touch HSR anymore, never let bro cook again.
@@jackjohnson8305 The slander was uncalled for, if you hate it, just to say you dislike it, that's it. No need to insult the writer, you're being toxic and immature for no reason.
I think Volkin is under a major misunderstanding with the whole "it was all a dream" complaint because it's not like that was hidden from us. The entire thing about Penacony is that it IS all a dream. They didnt hide that from the start. One of the first things they told us is that people can't die in the dream. They tried to fake us out a few times to make us think "holy shit, maybe they can!" but they kept their promise. People can't die in the dream. There are still stakes in the end though because if the heroes can't stop Sunday IN the dream, everyone there will be forever TRAPPED in the dream. I also dont understand Smack's complaint about Xueyi's nondeath. She's been a robot from the start. Her body was always an empty shell that just houses her soul temporarily. That wasn't new information. At all. I get complaints about Jiaoqiu not dying, but the Xueyi complaint makes no sense.
On the Smack not understanding Xueyi's nondeath, they even reinforced that Xueyi is a spirit. I can't remember for the life of me when they did it but I know they did touch back on it again.
any of this guys actualy pay atention to the story they said many times and they still discuss the story for just to make a video to make money they actualy don't care and still complain about what they don't know
@@MorinoTengu I don't want to just accuse people of not paying attention or insult them without basis. That's not what I was trying to do with my comment.
You have major misunderstanding to his statement too. Another hsrshill trying to deflect the bullet and pretend the penacony is good because of his sunk cost fallacy. Not surprised me, seeing hsr revenue, you guys spend too much for a videogames.
The Aeon's lore in Simulated Universe is much much more interesting than the main quests. It's a shame that their lore will never be heard by the majority of players because it's only for people who are patient in reading multitude of texts and lore enthusiasts.
A clarified definition of Emanator: An emanator is an individual who is given DIRECT permission from an Aeon to access a greater portion of the Aeon's path. This can be done against the individual's will as Aeons do not care if you follower their path or not, if they approve of you, you will be chosen regardless of path. Gachasmack is correct on the degree of power emanators are given, they could give you an incredibly small portion to access or give you a massive amount to pull from. The only type of emanator where this definition does NOT apply are specifically for emanators of the nihility as it is impossible for IX to gaze at anyone since they simply do not care/bother doing so. To become an emanator of the nihility, you have to be able to endure the effects of stepping into a Shadow of the Nihility (e.g. walking into IX) and survive, which results in the individual's journey of self-annihilation to be drawn out to infinity. This is nearly impossible and you'd have to already be overwhelmingly strong (around emanator level, and even then it might not be enough) to be able to endure stepping into IX's shadow. Is Feixiao an Emanator? Getting gazed does not mean you become an emanator, otherwise TB would be the emanator of 3 paths which clearly isn't the case. In Feixiao's case as well as all the other Arbiter-Generals, it is unclear whether they themselves as individuals are emanators or that the Lan Spirits they wield are. The Lan Spirits are manifestations of Lan, which would imply that the power that the Spirits use would be directly from Lan themself. As these spirits can be inherited and passed down from one Arbiter-General to the next, it would be more reasonable to assume that by wielding the Lan Spirits the generals gain emanator powers, while not being one directly themselves. So in essence the gaze could just be Lan giving approval, and nothing more as Feixiao already wields a Lan Spirit.
Feixiao IS an Emanator of the Hunt, as well as the other Arbiter-Generals. The six spirits they wield all possess the power level of an Emanator. It has been stated TWICE that the Generals are Emanators, first by Welt, saying they are equal to Lord Ravagers, and then by Black Swan, saying that "when Emanators clash,..." when Jing Yuan attacked Dominicus The Hamonious Choir with his Lightning Lord, indirectly stating that Jing Yuan is an Emanator. Some may say that "oh but the Generals only control the power of the Emanator" well guess what? If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and looks like a duck, then it IS a duck.
@@longps9528 The reason why many people don't consider the Generals as Emanators is because of Jingyuan's poor performance against Phantylia, ultimately making the Generals really look weak compared to the Lord Ravagers. I mean the fact he needed the aid of almost the entire crew of the Astral Express just to combat Phantylia was a bad showcase of what an emanator is.
@@ForTheViolence I never said she couldn't. As a matter of fact I'm not even discrediting Feixiao or any of the generals here, it's more a compliment that they themselves are able to stand toe-to-toe with individuals who were directly made emanators. You're taking this the wrong way, besides if they wanted to say they were emanators they could've said it outright rather than using vague terms such as "emanator power" or being comparable to emanators. I am aware of the rating pistol but we technically still have no idea what it's basing its ratings off, and there may be a hidden variable that we aren't aware of.
@@longps9528 You're only proving my point. There's a difference between wielding the power of an emanator and being made one directly. They are not the same thing. It's like Sunday, he himself isn't an emanator of the Harmony, but he overrode Dominicus thus wielding the power of one. This makes them emanator level but not true emanators.
Where Penocony falls apart is Robin, Sunday and their relationship. We don't see any of it. Telling a story about how you found a baby bird when you were kids 6 times is not a substitute for showing their relationship. Sunday says he's using The Order so Robin doesn't get hurt, but they showed me nothing that should make me believe him. It sounds like an excuse. Removing Robin from the story for multiple patches and barely showing them interact when the fight with Sunday is what it all leads to was a massive mistake. Everything with Acheron, Aventurine and the other penocony characters was good, but it all lead to a wet fart.
Yeah this is so true lol and they could have easily fixed this by putting a Robin pov with him. Also there is a theory that a lot of Robin backstory actually went to Firefly like her running away from the Family.
i cried, but i guess as an older sibling my experiences were able to fill in those blanks, and i really believe that was fine and if anything enabled me to enjoy the story even more, i dont think everything needs to be explained or even shown, i dont think we needed a robin/sunday prequel, the bird story was not about their relationship but about their world view, i think with hoyo games in general are better consumed when looking at it from an inside perspective rather than an outside one, as in take in the story as someone in the story would and not as someone waiting to be convinced would
Xueyi not dying makes sense. Hanya even touches on Xueyi's situation. ( or it's mentioned somewhere but i know it was mentioned. ) Xueyi isn't a living being, she's a spirit inside an ingenum??? body. If the body is damaged, she can inhabit another ingenum until her body is repaired.
Obession with people dying for 'steaks' is it's own can of worms in fandomsphere's though. JUST killing people doesn't really matter. People living or dying in a story should only matter if it matters. Killing people senselessly without purpose doesn't serve a story, not even for 'steaks' you can build stakes in a bazillion possible ways, if the character dies in service of 'steaks' and nothing else than its a wasted death. Too many of y'all grew up watching Game of Thrones to remember how storytelling is classically accomplished. MOST stories don't have to carry themselves by wasting characters in pointless deaths in effort to create some sense of hyperrealism. Most stories aren't attempting to be hyper real, they're attempting to tell a STORY. To tell a story you typically need characters, so offing them senselessly to build up stakes is pretty much counterproductive unless you built the story fundamentally upon dealing with death. Stop looking for 'realism' in every story you consume, stary approaching them as what they present themselves as. If a story has nothing to SAY about death, then there's nothing that death provides to the story... not even for 'steaks'. Again, you can build any form of stakes in countless myriad of ways. Star Rail is a Disney movie of a game. I don't know why anybody thinks or WANTS it to be inundated with a bunch of character death. If Mihoyo's games were on a ratings system, than Genshin and Star Rail would both definitively be their 'Rated G' games (I wouldn't be shocked if ZZZ has some deaths at some point considering it's very much more PG-13). Looking for or expecting death 'steaks' in a G rated product is absolutely as weird and disconnected as them folks who grow overly attached to fictional characters. It's just a different 'weird' affliction born of shows like Game of Thrones and its ilk... but Game of Thrones and its ilk are HEAVY 'R' rated types of stories where dealing with that sort of sudden and senseless death are actively inlaid in the themes of the story. You're playing a Disney film of game right now, just ACCEPT that and look for your bloody steaks where its appropriate.
Lorehead here: 1. On Emanators: All of the characters in the game "live their faith(s)" to some degree. Characters minimally are on a path, but if they increase their devotion or ideology, they will become recognized by the Aeon their behavior aligns with, being "glimpsed" by an Aeon like Stelle/Caelus, or granted boons like Feixiao. Eventually, characters can follow a path so devotedly that they become an Emanator, or embody the ideology of their path, so much that it severs their identity. If an Emanator deepens their devotion, they become contender for the title of Aeon, and either can challenge the standing Aeon, or become assimilated. 2. On Feixiao's lineage and power: Feixiao isn't half-borisin, Borisin and Foxian share genetics like humans do with monkeys, and so on. She can tap into it differently because of her growing up in the Borisin community as a slave. All Foxians have this shared DNA-origin tho. Feixiao now has outstanding power because she consumed the Blood Heart, which has the collective power of every Warhead since it was granted to the first Warhead; it's power grows with everything it was eaten, and gives all of it to the next consumer of the heart. 3. On Tingyun and Aeon-slaying: Ruan Mei's motive is to ascend to Aeonhood, and she was experimenting with Emanator Starcrusher's remains early on, but now she put Aeon Tazzyronth's remains into Tingyun to resurrect her. If we're getting her as a character, this could be Ruan Mei's first time creating a sustainable life form for The Propagation, which is what Tingyun's path/playstyle might be. It also has scary implications for Firefly bc she lost her home to Tazzyronth's Swarm. Luocha was open to bringing Tazzyronth's remains to Ruan Mei, because him and Jingliu want to slay The Abundance (Luocha's path) and this deal some how gets them closer towards that goal. Also, Feixiao mentioned she wants to hunt down Lan, the Hunt, which is her path as well, and its pretty sick that her target is THE ultimate hunter. 4. On Jiaoqiu: That mf should be dead asl lmao i'm mad too hahaha
Misha was never alive and Gallaghers sole mission was to guide the trailblazers to the truth. Did u do the story or are we just going to spout nonsense.
@@yllemini5092 The Watchmaker was already dead a long time ago, but Misha is a Memory Zone meme blessed by the Trailblaze. When I said "Misha died", I was referring to the meme, not the actual person the meme was based on. As for Gallagher, he is an amalgamation of different Family member, and after serving the purpose of guiding the Nameless, he disappeared. Did you use your brain to think carefully before talking to someone or are you just here to spout nonsense?
I don’t mind people coming back if it’s convincing and fits the character that brings them back. Like Jaoqiu only got saved coz of bailu being there and she is a character with revive. And he still lost his eyes, explains why his eyes are always closed even in the splash arts.
It's ironic that HSR's success as a game is what's hurting the success of the story since they now have a wider audience that they need to cater to which forces them to take less risks with the story. Hoyo still runs a business at the end of the day so can't really blame them for not wanting to hurt their bottom line.
Jingliu and Luocha are still in the Xianzhou because they discussed their plan to finally kill Yaoshi to the Marshal, codenamed Godslayer Protocol. As for why Ruan Mei is in the Xianzhou, she is part of the plan as to how she will be involved it has not been revealed but the speculation is she either resurrects Tazzyronth (Luocha's coffin allegedly contains parts of the Propagation) and make Yaoshi and Tazzyronth fight or resurrect Tazzyronth and merge them with Yaoshi creating another Aeon (possibly an Aeon of Creation) with Ruan Mei as the host.
i also liked 2.5 more than penacony. The issue with Penacony for me was too many characters with too many agendas and subplots. The wardance event was a lot more tightly focused, you didn't have something like the charmony festival where every attendee somehow has ulterior motives or 2-3 secret agendas and there was so much shit to keep track of. I hate to say it but characters like Firefly didn't even need to exist in the narrative for Penacony because someone like Robin could already have served the same role of uncovering the death meme then dying to it. Then you have characters like Misha who should be super important yet were sidelined for 2/3 of the main story. And the less is said about the Annihilation Gang the better.
yup this is what I always say too, wayyy too many characters. what makes stories good is focusing on a set few, their background, their thoughts & feelings, their ambitions, and their growth. it was way too convoluted and an actual good story was the cost in the end.
@@kuvjason7236 Bro is not slandering the story nor the writer, unlike some people in the comment section who are being toxic for no reason. His criticism is on point and valid and I am pretty sure they're mature enough not to attack the dude.
I remember that trailer for Annihilation Gang was fire. But then they almost did not even appear, like wtf. Iirc the old story writer was replaced, hence the situation with Annihilation Gang. Maybe Shaoji didn't have time to rewrite everything and he choose to exclude them mostly.
The whole Emanator thing is a bit confusing. From my understanding, Feixiao isn't an Emanator nor are any of the Arbiter-Generals like Jing Yuan. The moment we see Lan in the story is more the same instances we had with the MC in Belobog and Penacony where the Aeon casts their gaze upon the person when they're doing something that catches their interest - whether or not this gives them some sort of power boost is something I'm unsure of.
penacony wasnt a dream in the sense of other shows, the world of it was in a dream, what happened there trully happened except for when sunday took over everyone in 2.2 climax before final fight
The problem with killing characters is that if you do too much you stop caring about the characters, if you don't kill anyone important there is no impact, but with these kind of games that have a lot of parasocial people playing, if they killed a character, all these "mains" would feel bullied, they maybe would even attack the CEO again.
Smack already said like 4 times that Yunli will fall off if the enemies are not hitting constantly, but that's pure skill issue, I one-cycled Choir with her on the last MoC very easily, you just have to spam her ult then get it back again with Huohuo or Tingyun's ult, literally a no-issue. Its much worse for teams like Superbreak or Acheron. If the enemy locks its toughness bar what the fuck is FF/Boothill gonna do? If the enemy just takes 3 turns back to back and the def shred from Pela expires before you get 9 stacks, Acheron is hitting for half her damage. Furthermore, there's always two sides in every endgame, what are the odds of both sides having bosses that render you dps gimmick useless, and in this case, where the only enemies in the game that dont hit are the DoT puppet and the CC explosive bug? Thats 2 out of 96 enemy creatures, literally a 2% chance. Terrible argument.
it depends on the player tbh whether u can focus for a long time or just adhd lol and the content of dialogue has a lot of life value in it especially in penacony, some of them. xianzhou is more like a typical fighting anime story that has a lot of fighting scene, does no require thought process
i think volkin didnt understand penacony story, everything wasnt a dream, idk where he is getting this from, i think skimming through made him have a false perception of what the actual story was, however i do agree with the not killing characters part, it loses suspense or any form of danger for me
No it literally was all a dream.... The moment when the astral express makes that warp jump and arriving at Penacony was all a dream, Misha was the catalyst that broke us out of it. Obviously this doesnt mean that the journey in Penacony wasnt real but the fact that the writer's could easily just fill in plot holes using the dream premise is what probably pisses off Volkin. Also this puts into question everyones character motivations as it's unclear to what extent everyones free will was within the orders dream.
Feixiao just has a gaze, a like button from Lan the Hunt that They agree with her line of thinking, support her determination & maybe blessing a little bit power to her weapon, Smack, like MC getting the sword from Preservation & the hat from Harmony. If that scene means getting Emanator power then is the Trailblazer MC basically Emanator of every path? There's no way
you can get a glance and not be an emanator. Genius society members have been glanced, fu xuan was glanced by nous and technically the long life species where glanced by The Abundance.
@@beambreaker300 imo, the stare stands for nothing, either the story mentions it explicitly or hints are super clear with no ambiguity. For me, Emanator is not just the power, but status as well, representative of the aeon, I don't think we should just hand it to everybody that is more powerful than the average.
21:50 About the Ruan Mei ship part of the story Volkin wasn’t far off. Yukong asked Feixiao to look into "something" which I believe is Tingyun's ship route to discover what happened to her. Feixiao then says they found a destroyed ship but there was no survivors or cargo. Then ended with saying Ruan Mei was the first one to the scene. Ruan Mei is definitely slated to being an important character in the coming story with Welt and Himeko, Luocha and Jingliu, both factions wanting to form partnerships with her.
I used to play HI3 a lot and I would like to correct a misconception that people have about the story. People say that HI3 killed almost everyone, but in reality they only killed bad or neutral guys and never killed main characters. I'll give them credit for Elysian Realm because they killed most of the playable characters there, but on the other hand all the main characters are alive and they always get a BS power-up in a situation where they should have died. You could argue that the story is dark enough without the main characters dying, and they are still losing something important to them, but that's a whole other topic.
Thats right Volk 2:42 if you skip just one or two parts of Penacony 2.0-2.3 you wouldn't understand the whole of it. For me, my opinion is: Penacony is better than the Xianzhou Wardance Arc but the gap isn't that big I think Penacony just edges Xianzhou Wardance Arc a few points.
I personally like Penacony more, because of the lore that came with it and the amount of discussion the community had during the story, that imo the community didn't have with the other storylines thus far and even now. Discussions about who and what makes someone an Emanator, can you really die in a dream or not, Is Firefly sam, who are the galaxy rangers, the IPC, what is "Meme", whats Sparkle/Elations goal, and many more lore bombs really started having discussion around them because of the Penacony story, and though I do like the action in the new Xianzhou arc I don't feel as though there's a lot of major lore plot points are around them. I will say though I appreciate HSR having way more cutscenes this update compared to previous ones and hope they continue doing that.
The discussions around me and my friends were more like. Why is the pacing so ass?! Why do they waste an entire chapter, just to say you can't die in a dream. Why was i staring at a still pic for what seemed like an eternity, while some of the most sleep endosing dialogue stretched into infinity. It makes Genshin dialogue fluff sound like main plot in comparison. If you liked it, good for you. But it's one of the worst story arcs I've played in a gacha game, let alone any game... 🤷
@@kingcopium9143 I'm glad you enjoyed the story too. If i come off as harsh, it's cuz you have to be brutal to see change. I liked the flow of the game before Penacony, I'd like them to return to that is all... 🤷
8:32 I don't know, Smack, if you are actually taking death of a fictional character seriously to the point of anxiety in a game where people slash through universes with katanas, YOU might need to "get a grip" 🤣. It's like being on the edge of your seat because Santa Claus might die. It really all depends on the writing/story. Most of the time death is a cheap plot device. When it's done well, like Himeko in HI3 or the original Superman: Doomsday, it doesn't matter what happens after that moment, the good story is just good by itself. But being like "No, if you bring my fictional character back the story won't be real to me anymore" is wild...
No she's a half breed. Hooolay said she is the perfect Alpha bc she has both the cunning and deadly instincts making her the best of both parties. Personally I feel her life's gonna be almost immortal like Hooolay after eating the moon rage bc Hooolay was immortal bc of it.
my main problem with Penacony was that all our relationships with the characters, and even the relationships between other characters felt so fake and shallow. This was especially evident with Firefly, Sunday and Robin. This problem was caused by the sheer number of characters they tried to fit into the storyline.
That title is crazyyy just on sheer amount of content alone. Also the concept for penacony is amazing. Fexiao is by far better than any one character but man.. that title is cuhrazy. Volkin never reads the story so the one time he did he thought it was peak haha
They should just add more floors to MoC, PF, and Apoc Shadow. At this point they have maxed their two week rotations. If they were to add another game mode to this cycle it would take 8 weeks to see a particular game mode again. More floors, more jades would be better in my opinion than incentivizing 0 cycles, which are not even possible in PF and Apoc Shadow. If HSR wishes to add more endgame, they will have to shrink the two week cycle rotation to one week or they will have to add more permanent endgame modes. Divergent Universe is a good example of an endgame mode that resets weekly.
In my opinion, the Penacony story is more complex, while Xianzhou 2.5 is more straightforward. The Penacony story is favored by those who enjoy complex narratives with details that need attention and time to understand. On the other hand, the Xianzhou story would appeal more to people who prefer a straightforward narrative without having to think about too many details. I personally prefer the Penacony story because of its complexity. Penacony doesn't just tell the story of a dream world; it portrays how someone faces reality, whether they choose to accept and confront it or instead decide to remain in the dream world. Penacony also features a variety of characters, each with different agendas and mindsets, which provides me with material for discussions comparing the thought processes and perspectives of each character, such as: - The difference in mindset between Sunday and Robin when facing a choice - Sparkle's very random way of thinking - Acheron's perspective on the dream world - Welt's perspective and Acheron's perspective on their respective worlds - etc In Penacony, there are also many agendas from each of its factions: - Stelaron Hunter - The Family - Galaxy Ranger - IPC - Nameless Penacony is also rich with values regarding the problems someone faces in their world and shows how each Penacony character deals with their own challenges.
Volkin I agree with you that song is so fucking annoying now I just mute music whenever I run the robin team, it ruins the mood for the really cool bgm as well
Yeah, I really didn't want to pull for her because of the damn song, but I caved in the end because I really, really needed a good support on my account
Genuinely asking, what makes you anxious about fictional characters dying? I can never get past the contrived "you're trying to make me sad" so the deaths themselves feel meaningless in either direction. It's similar to tragic lore or ridiculously overpowered descriptions (which never actually play out anyway because it wouldn't make sense).
Focalors dying in genshin was impactful, I don't play the game anymore, but that was a death I didn't believe Hoyo would go through with, I would love to see shit get real on the next planet we visit in HSR, then maybe we get more of a serious side of Stelle and some deep character development.
My biggest gripe is that sparkle was a red herring to distract from the main storyline and didn't really do anything menacing. She was just trolling the whole time xD And everything else being in a dream so it didn't really happen irl
21:20 feixiao and yukong talked, it was implied that yukong asked feixiao for help to search for tingyun. Feixiao says that the ship was ruined and couldnt find anyone alive but found the traces of someone that arrived before feixiao which was ruan mei.
27:30 I like to think that Feixiao was not suddenly decided to be the Hunt emanator, but just simply Ian the Hunt 'gazing' upon her and granting her powers because their ideals were aligning or something, similar to how the mc has had Qlipoth AND Xipe gaze upon them in Belobog/Penacony, turning the MC into their new path. And since we don't necessarily call the mc an emanator of preservation or harmony now, I would like to think that similarly Feixiao is not per se an emanator of the hunt. yapping over
Marshall is an emanator. Like diamond is. General's are similar to 10 stone hearts who received powers from marshall. So emanators can actually distribute their power. Loke how jiygyuan inherited lighting lord from previous general.
Except HoYo materials explicitly (Guide to Penacony: Conscious side) say that while Marshall is above other six, all seven of them are Arbiter-General possessing spirits bestowed by Lan. Full stop. Lan bestowed Lighting Lord to previous general and he bestowed it to Jing Yuan when he became current one. Hua has own spirit (probably strongest one) but only relation it has to others is, that all of them are from Lan.
@@TheTenzen12 I would like to say another thing, clearly Marshall fu hua has the authority to decide if u are the general or not, that why he sent 2 generals to check if JY is good or not, if JY were to be an offender, fuhua would have taken his power as the general. That's why I think Fuhua is the one who decides who is gonna be the next general. I mean fuhua was the one who let JY be the general, as to the fact if fuhua is Emanator or not, debatable, we don't know for sure but I only see fuhua as a candidate for Emanator.
it started with hiemko sending levithan remains from the thelassian abyss to ruan mei then yukong saying they saw ruan mei at the reckage of tingyun ship so she prolly revived her
I loved 2.5 story wise, the characters were great and I was hooked in for the most part. What I really disliked tho was the endboss. Although the design and music department went out of their way to create a good boss, gameplay wise, it simply was a draining, boring fight. I had to actually use two sustains, simply bc her damage and not being able to break quickly enough [I do not use break team comps] was waaaayyy over the top. I get the whole break meta, but including that into story bosses? Leaves a bad taste in my mouth tbh. My biggest criticism with the game so far. Other than the bossfight, the patch was very enjoyable.
@@MiggyBunny11 True, was my strategy as well handling the fact that I don't have a definitive, distinct breaker in my kit. Yet still, it just took a bit too long and was exhausting after a while? First time in the whole game I ran 2 sustainers in story😂
And here I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand Robin because of that song, I hear she's great, but I just can't put up with a battle having that fun vibe song 😅
Personally I enjoyed the Wardance arc story more than Penacony. I think Penacony story was less interesting for me than the things they didn't include in the main story. How Penacony was formed, the family lore, side characters etc. Penacony is truly one of the most complex places in a video game imo but not sure this translated into the main story well. I feel like it wasn't a great choice leaving a lot of things to the players to find out what is actually happening with the main story.I wish it had a more clear storytelling on its own but if we wanted to we could do side content to find out more about it. Also I need to mention 2.3 .It was such a mess.
30:14 Foxians and Borisin share ancestors, so they can have kids together. Where Feixiao was born Foxians are slaves for Borisin, pretty obvious how they get new foxians kid slaves.
Volkin is right. We are back to the original story that never ended on Xianzhou Luofu. We are just locked in a mindset that Hoyo set for us pre-Penacony release. We were waiting for Penacony and they made a filler patch that pulled us back to Belobog where we met Topaz.
This Trailblazing Continuance was definitely better than the previous ones. I genuinely hated the previous Continuances because I honestly didn’t care much for the plot there. But this one with Feixiao was actually really good. I hope the Trailblazing Continuances coming in the future are like it, since they keep me engaged with the story before the major patches.
yanqing’s so funny because he was able to just barely stop hoolay while also almost meeting his demise if it wasnt for feixiao. meanwhile he’s unable to beat jing yuan, blade, dan heng, jingliu and not to mention Us as the MC and kafka
Hoolay says that Feixiao has borisin blood flowing through her. She is a half-breed. There are multiple times her lack of a tail has been mentioned as a notable lacking feature.
For 2 months I was only doing story Because I could clear everything easily for three days now I started to level up all of my character traces now i have a goal to level all traces
Penacony 2.0 patch was REALLY good. But shit HELLA fell off for the other 3 patches for it. But as an arc, the feixiao one was WAY more interesting. Didn’t feel like a filler patch at all. If I had to put the arcs in order from my favorite to least favorite: feixiao arc , belabog, luofu arc, topaz arc, penacony 2.0 patch, huohuo arc, and then the rest of penacony. Killing off side characters isn’t as impactful as killing main characters. On top of that, most of them didn’t even die… and Gallagher and misha weren’t even shown dying 💀.
Someone needs to ask the devs where is where the annihilation gang is and why they haven’t been released even though they were teased/drip marketed at the start of penacony
the 2.4-2.5 story was on the level of penacony for me, i like that it was more contained and straightforward (even though penacony’s complex narrative was also really compelling im a sucker for villains who are evil just because and motivations that can be summed up in sentences rather than paragraphs lol) i agree that killing off jiaoqiu would make the story more impactful, but i also don’t think his survival diminished the impact at all. jiaoqiu faced some pretty devastating consequences in the loss of his vision, there’s still a weight to his sacrifice because he will never be the same again. now if they reverse his blindness i’ll be pissed but im hoping feixiao’s comment about fixing his eyes is just the setup for a follow up arc where the dissonance between jiaoqiu’s acceptance of his condition and feixiao’s rejection of it is explored. i think that could become a really compelling narrative about ableism
Volkin, going to be honest, I also skipped Robin, and was thinking about puling her now, but then I realized that I have a fully built Hanya right there. Sure she's not as good, but I don't care, at least now I have an excuse to use her again
1:10:25 DHIL is pretty much the only Hyper carry where RM is better then robin because of SP, all other hyper caries, DoT, follow teams are better off with Robin. If you compare the 2 RM is only better in break, so compared to Robin she is pretty much a dedicated break support right now Edit: oh, Acheron is better with Robin too.
actually hoping for more characters that purely focus on debuff, i think that would be the next META, or at least i hope since im raiden B mei 2.0 main
I can tell some people didn't pay attention because everything in penacony happened, it was only the world itself that was a dream, which is another way of saying it's a mental world, since some don't seem to comprehend that
45:40 I agree with Smack. Expectation: FUA units build stacks for Feixiao. Reality: FUA units build stacks for Feixiao, Feixiao build stacks for FUA units.
I hated Robin song too, but I got over it since I won the 50/50 in 30 pulls, and she brought with her a Bronya. After a while the music kinda blends in.
something I would like that seems obvious for a higher difficulty is more MOC floors, but hear me out! floor 13-14 for exemple would need 3 teams instead of 2, so not only it get's harder but it makes you want to bench less characters and build them and yeah you could say ''it's not beginner friendly'' but that's the point of ''Endgame'' content, you do it when you're on a high enough level, and floor 13-14 would naturally be a little harder than 12.
To be fair, we all knew Tingyun wasn’t dead because we brought up that they took her body. The entire mystery Aventurine was out to prove was that death doesn’t exist in a dreamscape and that something else was happening Xeuyi’s entire lore is being undead. Misha and Gallagher are in fact dead and game mechanics like texts were adjusted to drive home that very point.
Why do you think Hoyo don't kill off their characters? Cause no one wants it. They've tested it in Hi3 and they know it doesn't make money. Nobody wants to pull a dead character.
True. Why would people pull a character they know will never appear again? As someone who has E0S1 Jiaoqiu, I would've wanted a refund if they really killed him off.
@@AIA222-yu5ml Yeah, likewise. And imagine you wanted to pull a character, just as an example, Rappa, and you find out she is going to die. There is no way I would pull her.
one of the reason gacha story cant go anywhere same like non gacha game, no? I keep thinking about it. The gacha genre make the devs to holding back their own power. The writer obviously have the ability to make such story, yk... gore, violence, war, dead, disability, mental illness, etc. But, since its gacha... they know it will ruined their business. Maybe, thats why so many peoples especially CC always said "its the best story on all of gacha genre", "for a gacha game, its pretty good", or "its good, but nowhere in same place like triple A game". I would like to heard others opinion about this.
@@mmogemu02 Yeah, gacha stories are bad. But its a game. I don't care that much about the story but I wouldn't play if it was gorey and nasty. I just don't like it. So I feel like I'm a prime example of people who just aren't into that or characters dying. I'm the same with films and such too. But! Just like any film, you do not have to kill off main characters to make a good story.
Bruh that's a stupid take. Nikke, fgo, arknights earn a lot of money while having dead characters(some, more than others) On top of that Hi3rd revenue is small because of their small playerbase and the game itself being old,not because some character is dead. On the contrary, people have been asking for characters to be dead once in a while because the stakes are gone in that game. There are literally so many exceptions for Hi3rd alone that it makes me wonder where you even got that idea. Himeko's godsbane battlesuit,HoV,HoH,CI,all earned enough for Hi3rd's standards.
Penacony was awesome and is easily the best story so far. Xianzhou has become so damn stale for me that I get bored just running around there. In the grand scheme of the story 2.5 was just another tournament arc with a party crasher. 2.0-2.3 tho? We had matrix references, the best new explorable area, and the best character stories in the game so far. We had firefly, aven, Acheron, Sunday, Black Swan, and sparkle! We found out an raiden mei and we saw aven’s big gamble. We had Acheron’s slash that left a permanent mark on the environment we had to repair! As far as story beats go, yanqing and JQ are the only characters who even came close to touching the level of story fulfillment we got in penacony. Fei wasn’t even a main character in 2.5, she just got some animations. That was all yunli, March, and yanqing! If you didn’t like the whole “matrix, we’ve already lost, everything flipped on its head” thing that’s okay, but that is far and away more creative than anything we’ve had yet on the xianzhou.
I wouldn't call Tingyun was not a fake out death she snapped her neck whilst revealing that she was not Tingyun. Its not like we thought she was dead then next patch we find out its a fake, it was in the same cutscene thats not a fake out death imo but I'm curious what everybody else thinks.
Penacony is just a far worse version of Persona 5 Royal's story. Sunday is just Dr. Maruki. He has a loved one attack and nearly killed which drives him to take away everyone's free will in order to make a dream world in which there's no suffering. Adventurine is Akechi. He's willing to sacrifice his life to shatter the dream. He's an orphan "adopted" by a powerful political power and is essentially a puppet to them. He even has the fake "friend" rival thing going with the trailblazer. There are several more parallels, those are the main ones though. They even copied the Phantom Thieves calling card thing in the March 7th event.
My opinion on the no character death in hoyo and gacha in general is not done is that your fave characters will get no more interaction both in story and game wise for the rest of the lifespan of the game. Other than flashbacks and games with post death lore reasons that they come back. Granted npc death should be used more often in hoyo.
I completely feel Volkin on the boring characters standing talking thing ahah After completing Changli's quest and seeing how much more dynamic the camera was etc, when I saw the Yunli story stuff I understood I couldn't do it anymore. The stiff characters and mostly static camera just kills it for me Speaking of killing, agree for Hoyo not killing off any characters, it blows, especially with how many characters they keep pumping out. They end up having to shoehorn them into the story, which ends up hurting story quality
i think smack didn´t get that robin is skill point positive simply by letting every unit attack again, if you play robin with sparkle just let sparkle AA a turn if you need the skill point robin gave her a free turn anyway you can convert each support turn into a free skill point
Tingyun thst we knew was an imposter. The real one was thought dead after the fake vanished. But the real one was found in the wreckage of a ship. The 4 star one is the fake tingyun. If the leaks are real and we are getting a 5 star tingyun. It could be a clone or the real one e
Penacony should have been 3 patches spanning 1 Robin Sunday Sparkle, 2 Acheron Aventurine Firefly, 3 Sunday Jade IPC. But no we got 2 patches and a 3rd FULL patch of just Jade. Like what???
Whilst I agree that death fakeouts cheapen a story the way Hoyo has already done like 10 different times starting with Tingyun, I can't agree that death is a necessary tool for stakes and tension building in story-telling. There should be consequences yes but always going to death as a tool for this is just a bad writing crutch. That said some deaths should have happened in this recent ark (looking at ur blind ass Jiaqou). Xueyi not so much... shes already dead kinda and a true death for her and Hanya is their eventual happy endingso her "death" was inconsequential. Do note whilst I am saying not everything needs to lead to a true death in the story I am on the side of being annoyed by the fakeouts, like... this isn't HI3 with 15 different versions of Himeko denied to us as we have to live with the 8 versions they released cos they killed her in the story... every char (almost every) is unique in HSR so them dieing after serving their purpose in the story is FINE!

A clarified definition of Emanator:
An emanator is an individual who is given DIRECT permission from an Aeon to access a greater portion of the Aeon's path.
It’s said in the game that the generals are a match for the lord ravagers. Ya’ll writing these paragraphs and losing sleep over this is hilarious.
@@ventrue7 you need to be a little more specific because we already had a robin POV during 2.2 story and she was with Sunday
NGL the only part in the whole Penacony story that I like is the philosophical debate.
Same with Firefly lol, terribly written
i cried, but i guess as an older sibling my experiences were able to fill in those blanks, and i really believe that was fine and if anything enabled me to enjoy the story even more, i dont think everything needs to be explained or even shown, i dont think we needed a robin/sunday prequel, the bird story was not about their relationship but about their world view, i think with hoyo games in general are better consumed when looking at it from an inside perspective rather than an outside one, as in take in the story as someone in the story would and not as someone waiting to be convinced would
Xueyi not dying makes sense.
Lorehead here:
Tbf, Misha died, and Gallagher ceased to exist. They actually killed off 2 pivotal characters of the Penacony Arc.

@@yllemini5092 The Watchmaker was already dead a long time ago, but Misha is a Memory Zone meme blessed by the Trailblaze.

The Marshall is the only candidate
penacony wasnt a dream in the sense of other shows, the world of it was in a dream, what happened there trully happened except for when sunday took over everyone in 2.2 climax before final fight
You could argue that the story is dark enough without the main characters dying, and they are still losing something important to them, but that's a whole other topic.
iirc, werent the elysian realm characters alrady dead, and then became playable?
@@Prahalad3362Yes most of the Elysian Realm characters were already dead when Mei met them.
They did killed Himeko, and she was playable, and really important to the character development of Kiana back then.
@@HonestToCritic I respect that opinion, not everything can cater to everyone👍
Penacony also features a variety of characters, each with different agendas and mindsets, which provides me with material for discussions comparing the thought processes and perspectives of each character, such as:
- The difference in mindset between Sunday and Robin when facing a choice
- Sparkle's very random way of thinking
- Acheron's perspective on the dream world
- Welt's perspective and Acheron's perspective on their respective worlds
- etc
In Penacony, there are also many agendas from each of its factions:
- Stelaron Hunter
- The Family
- Galaxy Ranger
- IPC
- Nameless
Penacony is also rich with values regarding the problems someone faces in their world and shows how each Penacony character deals with their own challenges.
Volkin I agree with you that song is so fucking annoying now
I just mute music whenever I run the robin team, it ruins the mood for the really cool bgm as well
Yeah, I really didn't want to pull for her because of the damn song, but I caved in the end because I really, really needed a good support on my account
They really should’ve added all songs and make you able to choose which one plays or just set it to random
@@beambreaker300 This too! that would be much better
8:49 Perfectly agree to your point Gachasmak.
I cannot force myself to be anxious if I already know nobody is gonna die😅.
No fim ela é uma tola mascarada kkkk
And since we don't necessarily call the mc an emanator of preservation or harmony now, I would like to think that similarly Feixiao is not per se an emanator of the hunt.
yapping over
Setting: Belobog
Characters: Loufu
Story: Penacony
Also Smack, you should stream HI3.
@@TheTenzen12 oh, hi 😂
@@lionmask3630 XD
@@TheTenzen12 I would like to say another thing, clearly Marshall fu hua has the authority to decide if u are the general or not, that why he sent 2 generals to check if JY is good or not, if JY were to be an offender, fuhua would have taken his power as the general. That's why I think Fuhua is the one who decides who is gonna be the next general.
I mean fuhua was the one who let JY be the general, as to the fact if fuhua is Emanator or not, debatable, we don't know for sure but I only see fuhua as a candidate for Emanator.
I agree with Volk on Robin. I refuse to pull her because of that song.
@@thomasjml82 I am kinda surprised ngl that people dont like the song 😂
I hear it daily on my Spotify cause I don't have her 😂
The stories keep dragging on and on and on.... i miss belobog
True . So much yapping for nothing
it started with hiemko sending levithan remains from the thelassian abyss to ruan mei then yukong saying they saw ruan mei at the reckage of tingyun ship so she prolly revived her
The Volkin character development this patch is insane
my limitation is no eidolons and no signature light cones. if you go for any of that it makes every other character very weak in comparison
Bro I was so pissed Jiaoqiu survived it makes no sense with Hoolays personality and *ideas* that he wouldn't eat him
2.5 revealed a lot of his personality. Dude absolutely would leave someone to die in their misery if he had bigger fish to fry
Other than the bossfight, the patch was very enjoyable.
i feel u but to be fair, u only really need to break the hand/paw and the head, focus hard on those 2 while broken and ya gucci.
@@MiggyBunny11 True, was my strategy as well handling the fact that I don't have a definitive, distinct breaker in my kit. Yet still, it just took a bit too long and was exhausting after a while? First time in the whole game I ran 2 sustainers in story😂
@@VeyVox lmao i feel u, i also used 2 sustainers when phantylia came out, but I now have a good aventurine so he can pretty much still sustain solo
56:00 BLUD NEEDS TO STOOOP saying this about yunli, she was doing well even in the moc that wasnt hitting her
Rocking the BARF team right now.
Boothill, aventurine, Ryan mei, Fexaio
Shit is fun as hell.
We were waiting for Penacony and they made a filler patch that pulled us back to Belobog where we met Topaz.
boothill already mentioned rappa in the tournament event to luka
Silver Wolf is the one who hired Sparkle to ensure Firefly deaths go smoothly.
It was top master plan all along
This Trailblazing Continuance was definitely better than the previous ones. I genuinely hated the previous Continuances because I honestly didn’t care much for the plot there. But this one with Feixiao was actually really good. I hope the Trailblazing Continuances coming in the future are like it, since they keep me engaged with the story before the major patches.
Brooo i hope tingyun become like a evil new boss or something
yanqing’s so funny because he was able to just barely stop hoolay while also almost meeting his demise if it wasnt for feixiao. meanwhile he’s unable to beat jing yuan, blade, dan heng, jingliu and not to mention Us as the MC and kafka
Hoolay says that Feixiao has borisin blood flowing through her. She is a half-breed. There are multiple times her lack of a tail has been mentioned as a notable lacking feature.
For 2 months I was only doing story
Because I could clear everything easily
for three days now I started to level up all of my character traces now i have a goal to level all traces
Someone needs to ask the devs where is where the annihilation gang is and why they haven’t been released even though they were teased/drip marketed at the start of penacony
the 2.4-2.5 story was on the level of penacony for me, i like that it was more contained and straightforward (even though penacony’s complex narrative was also really compelling im a sucker for villains who are evil just because and motivations that can be summed up in sentences rather than paragraphs lol)
i agree that killing off jiaoqiu would make the story more impactful, but i also don’t think his survival diminished the impact at all. jiaoqiu faced some pretty devastating consequences in the loss of his vision, there’s still a weight to his sacrifice because he will never be the same again. now if they reverse his blindness i’ll be pissed but im hoping feixiao’s comment about fixing his eyes is just the setup for a follow up arc where the dissonance between jiaoqiu’s acceptance of his condition and feixiao’s rejection of it is explored. i think that could become a really compelling narrative about ableism
Volkin, going to be honest, I also skipped Robin, and was thinking about puling her now, but then I realized that I have a fully built Hanya right there. Sure she's not as good, but I don't care, at least now I have an excuse to use her again
Fair. I did just fine in the first half of last AS with Hanya Ratio JQ and Aventurine. She puts in work.
27:30 all generals of Luofu are Eminators of the Hunt supposedly.
FYI All Arbiter Generals are Emanators of the Hunt Path
1:10:25 DHIL is pretty much the only Hyper carry where RM is better then robin because of SP, all other hyper caries, DoT, follow teams are better off with Robin. If you compare the 2 RM is only better in break, so compared to Robin she is pretty much a dedicated break support right now
Edit: oh, Acheron is better with Robin too.
actually hoping for more characters that purely focus on debuff, i think that would be the next META, or at least i hope since im raiden B mei 2.0 main
the genrals use the powers of the hunt emenator because of their weapon, which are essentially the real emenators of the hunt
"It was all a dream" is as bad or worse than "time travel" shenanigans.
I can tell some people didn't pay attention because everything in penacony happened, it was only the world itself that was a dream, which is another way of saying it's a mental world, since some don't seem to comprehend that
Those wild anime and cartoon theories lol! it reminds me of the wild rugrats one!
After a while the music kinda blends in.
something I would like that seems obvious for a higher difficulty is more MOC floors, but hear me out! floor 13-14 for exemple would need 3 teams instead of 2, so not only it get's harder but it makes you want to bench less characters and build them
and yeah you could say ''it's not beginner friendly'' but that's the point of ''Endgame'' content, you do it when you're on a high enough level, and floor 13-14 would naturally be a little harder than 12.
we already know linigsha full kit in new event you can make a video on that
In Volkin I see myself if I was a streamer. I can't stand Robin as well
To be fair, we all knew Tingyun wasn’t dead because we brought up that they took her body.
The entire mystery Aventurine was out to prove was that death doesn’t exist in a dreamscape and that something else was happening
Xeuyi’s entire lore is being undead.
Misha and Gallagher are in fact dead and game mechanics like texts were adjusted to drive home that very point.
I totally agree with Jiaoqiu. If they killed him. The story would have been more impactful and He himself got a lot of love.
The dream was a power from reality. Acheron destroying the dreamscape is a feat.
Almost certain Feixiao is a half breed.
4:57 Alice in Borderland, I think that's the show you're thinking about
Why do you think Hoyo don't kill off their characters?
Nikke, fgo, arknights earn a lot of money while having dead characters(some, more than others)
On top of that Hi3rd revenue is small because of their small playerbase and the game itself being old,not because some character is dead.
Yes, the Return the the Loufu is my favorite HSR arc. Penacony puts me to sleep every time i participate in it. I'm still at the Sparkle/Robin part.
Penacony was ass
I wouldn't call Tingyun was not a fake out death she snapped her neck whilst revealing that she was not Tingyun. Its not like we thought she was dead then next patch we find out its a fake, it was in the same cutscene thats not a fake out death imo but I'm curious what everybody else thinks.
the fact that Moze is pronounced that way is because we're in space China so names have Chinese pronunciation
Im hoping they add someone that can follow up for each dot tick
Nobody cares about npcs
I completely feel Volkin on the boring characters standing talking thing ahah
After completing Changli's quest and seeing how much more dynamic the camera was etc, when I saw the Yunli story stuff I understood I couldn't do it anymore. The stiff characters and mostly static camera just kills it for me
Speaking of killing, agree for Hoyo not killing off any characters, it blows, especially with how many characters they keep pumping out. They end up having to shoehorn them into the story, which ends up hurting story quality
One of the nicest podcast for sure
i think smack didn´t get that robin is skill point positive simply by letting every unit attack again, if you play robin with sparkle just let sparkle AA a turn if you need the skill point robin gave her a free turn anyway you can convert each support turn into a free skill point
Now feixiao herself isn’t confirmed an emanator but all the arbitrating generals are considered equal too or close to the power of an emanator
Nah, 1.6 had a Blade rerun i'm new and still haven't gotten a chance since I started to swipe my card for him I need that E6S5
Another great episode boys!
Yes you can get all of the free 4 stars selector in the permanent event tho Good for F2P
