I assume the Belabog story was also changed because it'd be pretty hard to resolve something that extreme by just letting the underworlders up and replacing Cocolia with her daughter. It'd be hard to leave the planet feeling like things would get better if things were that extreme, and the planet stories aren't long enough to do the kind of storytelling that'd make it actually seem like it's getting better.
that kind of feeling is sort of what they're playing with in penacony now, it feels like. like we quelled the stellaron and things are generally for the better, but the underlying problems that plague penacony (like the IPC and the other family's greed) are still present and theres not much to be done with them

The classism plotline would have been good but making it work as an ending would be MAD difficult. its like solving eulas reputation problems in the spam of 3 days except now its a whole city who we’d have to fix the reputation of on TOP of replacing its ruler. 😭

It was mentioned in the announcement trailer for the game though, before even the first beta test. Where Cocolia had a voice line that said "one of them is carrying a seed of ruin, which will bring about our end" In the final game bronya does call the stelleron a seed of ruin during the final confrontation. So I'm assuming that was the reason for the initial fight where bronya chases us into the underworld.
probably because they wanna introduce stellaron later in the game because the trailblazer didnt meet with stellaron hunters yet, so they don't know the name or details about the thing
I agree with most of the replies in the comments and as much as I love dark lore, old belobog doesn't fit well and doesn't leave you with a satisfying conclusion Plus it's too fast for literally being the first storyline in game for things to get so dark, honestly I'm happy with the current storyline
i agree, now that the games a little more established though id love to see them eventually go into that darker tone for future planets, put the honkai in HONKAI star rail
Something I remember from HSR CBT is that dailies used to be the same comission-like system as genshin where you had to complete 4 daily missions instead of the simple tasks we have now
you still had to do one commission post launch. the daily tasks we have now were implemented later. those commission missions are still present but they likely get ignored by everyone thanks to the daily tasks lol

its cool to see that the challenge mode not only was repurposed for divergent universe, but also for ZZZ in a very similar fashion, where you save your progress from a run to then fight a final boss with different objectives

I don’t have any footage but I can confirm that the achievement leveling system used to give pulls. I don’t remember which of the 2 pull types it was, but I also remember the system being really nice early on but feel worthless later since it took more and more xp to get through each level.
I remember a lot of data mining that was occurring, specifically information about March and her possible original name. Because the character played way different I assumed that it was just a placeholder model, but it was really fun to see people implement them
Honestly, finding out that HSR's Belobog chapter used to be darker wasn't a surprise for me. I mean, these are the same people who worked with HI3rd. HI3rd's darkness is like, only 2nd to GGZ (which is an entirely different nightmare on its own). I guess they were a little too excited when making Belobog chapter and decided to rewrite it just to soften the story up.
Imagine if the game launched with the original Belobog storyline. You boot up the game expecting a cute spacefaring adventure, only to be thrown into Hoth With Apartheid and told to solve racism before the end of the week.
If u have more of this, or more from their other games, I’d LOVE it. Cut content and seeing what went thru their heads and what could’ve been is my favorite part abt gaming.
HSR had so much for thought in hindsight looking back in how so many early systems they've improved upon and then later brought back into the game knowing it would add to the player qol experience and just needed to polish thing's up, it really is a hallmark of a good developer who cares about they're craft vs a bad one who would rather ignore they're potential customers for giving negative feedback and then call them toxic, then improve upon they're craft
on one hand. 6 piece AND ornaments would have allowed so much customizability. on the other hand it woulda been a bitch to farm but... I hope they bring em back
Yeah but the 5 piece bonus is just another stat boost anyway. It essentially makes no difference to the current system we have now, or at least it wouldn't be as interesting. More so just annoying. Sure we don't have an off-piece but with self modeling resin it really doesn't feel like an issue.
Zenless has the 6 piece that's for sure and that alone is painful to grind and only is benefitted by the fact character kits are homogenized so there are no dead potential stats like Effect Hit Rate or Incoming Healing. I can't imagine having 6 different relic pieces to grind, AND the ornaments, AND the main stat for chest + sphere + rope, AND the substats (I don't want to run two flat stats when it could be anything more useful like effect res.

Because the Jarilo storyline would be WAY longer than what we have since the conflict of the Underworld and the Overworld would be extremely more deep and personal (for the Underworld since they're locked away to literally die to radiation and treated like how police treat black men). In the Penacony arc, we left since the problem of politics would be up to the background characters and not us since we know jack about how to solve and we don't really have to. In Jarilo, not only would we form a connection with the characters above and below, but we'll see how they treat each other which would make it unsatisfying and just outright depressing if we just up and left for the Underworld and Overworld to fight amongst themselves. TL;DR. We'd need to solve literal racism if this version of Jarilo or else us saving the planet would be meaningless if the people kill themselves either way.
@totallyregulargiorno plus ppl just hate unfinished plot lines. We all saw how much ppl hated the Xhianzou alliance story and how "it ended" even though it didn't
because you can't really solve something like that fast. so it's best to chop out a few details and make it easier to digest in a single storyline rather than a full 1.0 - 1.9 patch for one planet.
The achievement leveling system reminds me of Tower of Fantasy they have something similar where you would get rewards for having a certain amount of points from achievements.
I don't want to sound like AK invented rock diseases, but as an arknights player, the similarities of the beta story to arknights is uncanny (crystallization and oppression of infected thing)
Would've been interesting, but I feel like the darkness of it would've immediately put most players off and make for a story that tries to do a lot of big things too fast

tbh, i kinda like the old version of preservation MC ult but the ending is a bit bad. having a mix of like the first couple of sec in the intro of the old till like 8:29 where in it fades black then add the new version till ends that could've been better. Also if they keep the Enhance basic attack for destruction MC they would be probably relevant or be used more in the latest version, tbh i hope they bring that back The old story in Belobog felt really dark it was great they change it because that felt a bit yeah dark
The six relic shouldn’t have been changed cause it allows you to have mistakes by not allowing this it makes the relic system one of the most grinding and difficult and upsetting part of the game.
