Parts of Cleveland may be in decline but not all! Cleveland is literally the last affordable city left in America. Average home prices 200k. Crime is pocketed like all cities. Word is out and people are moving here!!!
@@joshuaisrael2494 I’m glad to hear people are moving there. I do think Cleveland has a lot of great things going on and totally agree about affordability. I’ve been calling Columbus home for several years now and like living in Ohio. ☺️
@@KevinOblivion I’m glad to hear that. I do think Cleveland has a lot to offer and it’s true that every city has its share of problems and areas that are more dangerous. I hope I can visit again soon ☺️
I thought the same thing. Everything looked clean, safe and fun. But it did make me want to get downtown to see the Christmas lights and all the changes since I was last downtown. And spend some money to encourage more succcess!
great video! i live in cleveland and IMO you did the city justice in your video, coulda shown the stadium but ya got everything else. the city was in decline kinda still is but over the last decade id say they been upgrading Cleveland take ohio city if you go down around the corner and see all the houses have all been remodeled and painted really colorful plus lots of new apartment and condos. but all in all I give it 5 stars.. ps I don't recommend walking the streets at night tho if possible
This is just a walk around tourist spots.. This is not a reflection of how people in Cleveland actually live and what most of them really do, regardless of their economic status. He says "a city in decline" but none of the decline or the reasons for it are shown or discussed.
It’s true I am very much a tourist most places I go and I do walk a lot and just try and observe / share what I see. The ‘decline’ refers mainly to the population leaving due to the industrial jobs drying up. As far as I could see the downtown area of the city was pretty empty….but again I was only there for a day. I would like to visit again and I was very impressed with the architecture.
The only thing that has not recovered and flourished in Cleveland since the city's low point in the 1970s is the population, although some of that is slowly returning with some empty nesters and young couples now residing in one of the many new Apartment complexes right downtown or over in the Tremont area and Gordon's Square.
Do some homework before you start trashing the place. Cleveland his it’s troubles like any big city but it’s still vibrant and doesn’t deserve to be degraded by someone that hasn’t done their homework.
Yes, that area has quite a history going back 100 years. It is growing northward with the acquisition of the beautiful Art Deco Greyhound Bus Station. I just saw A Beautiful Noise about Neil Diamond at The Palace. Excellent!
What’s your measure of a successful city? Crippling grid lock, inane housing prices and astronomical cost of living? Cleveland is likely the last affordable city in the country and I’m sure that won’t last forever either.
I agree about the affordability. It is one of the most cost friendly cities I've visited. And there are a lot of great things about it. I was mostly coming at this from a historical perspective of the city and how at one time it was the 7th largest in the USA with a million residents (1950's). It has had a huge population decline which is always troubling, although I hear it is beginning to draw people back. I'm usually measuring cities against those from all over the world, but it's not really fair as I have my own biases like anyone else. But the criteria I focus on is public transit and public services, safety, walkability, green space and access to the outdoors, affordability is a really big one (and I'm thankful Ohio scores high there), and museums and entertainment. I'll admit I'm not huge on sports so I often leave that out. I hope that my video doesn't come across as harsh but just a visitor documenting and observing. I found the people I met to be very friendly and there are certainly more areas of Cleveland I didn't get a chance to see on this trip, but I look forward to a return visit to explore areas outside of downtown. I'm very interested in the Art Museum so that may be my next adventure there.

In decline? I don’t think so. If anything it’s turning a corner upward. Parts of Cleveland are bad but what city doesn’t have challenges?

Very nice shot video. Thanks for bringing memories back of Cleveland. The city is not declining according to your video. It looks clean and beautiful.

Lake Erie is clean. You sure missed the boat on most of the history of these buildings and what they were used for.
