I know he's mostly got vintage anvils but has he by chance purchased an Alec Steele anvil? He's another youtuber that does some pretty cool black smithing and has started to produce his own anvil for folks to get started with. I'd be very curious to hear what he thinks of Alec's anvils compared to his collection and vast knowledge of anvils in general.

I got married over the anvil at the original blacksmiths in Gretna Green. I was slightly worried when the lady hit the hammer on the anvil on either side of our joined hands but my husband and I were unscathed haha. It was amazing feeling the groove worn into the anvil and thinking of how many hands have rested in that exact spot over the centuries, going through the exact same life-changing event. They gave us a tiny anvil replica as a memento which now sits on my desk. The main thing I collect is probably books but I've run out of space so I try to buy ebooks and use the public library more. My dream is to one day live in a big enough house that I can turn one room into my own library.

I have friends in the modern blacksmithing community, and one of their constant complaints is how expensive it is for a beginning blacksmith to buy a new steel anvil, and also how difficult it has become to find vintage iron anvils in usable condition. In my personal opinion, tools were made to be used and to have a purpose. I wonder if your dad would ever consider getting involved with the modern blacksmithing renaissance, and perhaps letting go of a few duplicate pieces (at a reasonable price, of course), to help foster those trying to keep the blacksmithing traditions alive.

I love uncommon collections ! I have never seen someone collect anvils, this is awesome. I collect anything insect related- plushies, figurines, toys, books, etc, the weirder and more unique the happier it makes me. I also am trying to collect more vhs and dvds having to do with obscure old horror and obscure animes. Having a rare find and taking care of it could mean preserving a part of history and it makes me incredibly happy.

    Hi Karen,
Loved the video of your dad's anvil collection and what an awesome video for all of your subscribers and their fathers. I love watching You Tube video's about people and the things they are passionate about, whether it be their job or a hobby, or whatever. When you get around to creating your own puzzles, you have got to do one using a picture of your fathers anvil collection. Since the anvils are the same shape and mostly the same color, it could be quite a challenging puzzle. Oh yeah, the "book" looks like it would be a very interesting read.

Hi Karen a puzzle suggestion I have if you haven't already done them are wasjij. It's basically a puzzle but backwards. The picture that a puzzle usually gives you this gives you a picture but you will be putting together what one person in that puzzle sees. So the picture they give you isn't the picture you will be making. I don't know how much sense this makes.

Interesting video Karen. Many years ago I came across a small anvil at a garage sale and picked it up thinking that some day I might want to give working with brass a try for my model railroad. Never happened and I resold it at another garage sale. I was surprised at how fast it sold. At 70 yrs old I have gotten pretty selective about what I buy so I will not be picking up your dad's book. Eventually someone is going to have to come in and clean out this house which about 1/2 to 2/3rds is my mother in laws stuff which she refuses to thin out. 2500 sq ft jammed to the gills. I really hope your dad has given some serious thought to what will happen to his collection after he passes.
Looking forward to your monster puzzle getting finished.

This was such an unexpected and cool video! I'd never really given anvils much thought beyond the Roadrunner and Coyote cartoons. But after watching this I was curious and did some learning about why they're shaped the way they are, what they're used for, what they're made of and so many other things about them. Love learning new things!
And it's awesome that you, Katie and your mom collaborated with your dad on the BOOK🀄📖☺️

I was so psyched when I saw you made a video in the museum. This did not disappoint.

Ah the anvils! I remember you showing them a long time ago, probably on another channel. Nice to see them again! and I LOVE that a viewer sent you a couple of the Worlds Most Difficult jigsaw puzzles. I've been dying to see you do one of those. And OMG The Beatles White Album puzzle!!! AAAHHH! Book!

Karen, perfect idea… can you make a puzzle 🧩 from a photo of the anvil collection??? That sounds like a great puzzle to do!

Yep. Definitely the most random video of yours that TH-cam has told me to watch. Curious how he got into anvils and it's nice to see your connection with each other. Also, likely lots of lead up in there!

This was such a nice video to watch, Karen!! I didn't think I would've ever clicked on a video about anvils (firstly because I didn't know what they are 😭) but aaahh they way you made it work and uploaded it to your puzzle channel is awesome!!! Hearing both of you talk about the things you feel passionate about filled my heart with happiness 🥰 Thank you so much for sharing this!! I need to check out the book now🥳

Your Dad seems lovely. He reminds me of my father in law, who also loves old tools. He hasn’t written a BOOK though. No strange collections here, but I do have 375 puzzles currently.
